- The incredible loud fan gave me no option but to open the PlayStation 4 Pro (PS4 Pro) and give it some fresh air. No more noise and working like new, my PS4 Pro is now good to go!

If your PS4 Pro is still under warranty, for a great cleaning, voiding warranty is required.
The second batch of PS4 Pro is slightly different than first batch.
In this video is the second PS4 Pro, the first one has two seals and two security screws behind. Otherwise, they're the same.
For a deeper cleaning including replacing the thermal paste, I have this video:
• How to Replace Thermal...
Followed this guys instructions and this genuinely worked, I couldn't stand how much noise my ps4 made while playing red dead. There wasn't much dust in there but what came out really has made a difference. I can still hear the fan working but I can at least here the dialogue now
This worked perfectly! My ps4 fan was so loud it sounded like it was gonna explode lol. Now she quiet as a mouse
Mine is matted I’m dirt and grime. The rest of the cocnsole looks fine too me just the fan was absolutely filthy. I hope it’s all I have to clean. I have a Spider-Man ps4 pro and haven’t played it in a while do to noise and my console would overheat and crash
😂😂
Gon clean mine out right now too
Mine is the same I can't even play certain game, hopefully I can get it clean soon I can see the dust insofar already.
GG’S
After watching this video, I know that you are a man of focus, commitment and sheer rocking will

Followed this tutorial throughly! Works like a charm!! No more loud airport noise! Thank you!

Mine sounds like a freaking leaf blower, should I be concerned?

DO NOT REMOVE THE POWER SUPPLY FROM THE MOTHERBOARD.
THE CONNECTION PINS CAN BE DAMAGED OR RIPPED OFF.
It is not needed if it is just a simple cleaning and it risks pulling the connection pins off the motherboard itself.
Wish I had read these comments before following this guys instructions. That's exactly what happened to me.
I was trying to pull it off, but when I read your comment I stopped. Let's hope it still works
Update: it's working amazing. Just like it's new! Thank God I don't have the airplane sound anymore 😂
@@grunge1677 I was about to pull it out until I read this comment too😂😂😂
Too late for me bruh I ripped out the whole white thing holding the cables anybody know a fix??
@@SandqMan no
There are different ps4 models, the first video I searched was different tear down. Thankfully I found you.
I watched this and realized my Playstation is nowhere near his. His system had lungs like a smoker that's been smoking for 50 years.
😂
Same
That's how badly clogged up your fan was.😂😂😂😂😂
Just done this about an hour ago and it sounds great 😂, earlier me and my brother were playing mw2 and it sounded like an airplane
the moment u took out the battery I was "like ok I wont need to go further then that" funny neither did you🤣🤣
😂😂😂 I've gone far in a different video named "PS4 PRO Deep Cleaning" but that's mostly if you also want to replace the thermal paste, in most cases a simple cleaning like this is enough
Gosh i cant take off the front cover
Try taking it out while wiggling the whole ps4. Worked for me. Just wiggle the WHOLE ps4 up and down very fast while pulling up the cover
It happens the first time you do it
It is very easy with a spoon.
@@That-individual thats really risky
Just use a lot of pressure, dont worry u wont break anything. Same thing happened to me the first time and it all worked out nicely
This is great thanks. Although one point is never let a fan spin as it will be like a generator and sending back unwanted voltage to the board.
No it won’t lol
It doesnt just run by itself. Lol
Just disconnected the power supply who'll clean a ps4 which is plugged in 😂
I couldn't access the fan in mine, so I clean it from the outisde. Thanks, my ps4 sounds better now.
You don't need to remove the power supply wire, just use air duster and whatever you got to clean around, just pulled my pin off and now I have to replace that
Seems like a lot of people in the comments are having this issue. Maybe y’all just heavy handed?
Skill issue.
I broke my ps4
Damm srry
me too ☠️
I don't think I would remove the power cable. From what I can see and have read in the comments, it's too easy to break it, especially in comparison to the PS3 slim. So I would leave it attached in my case. I wouldn't be using a vacuum either but instead, an air compressor. Way easier to blast away the dust on the fan and heatsink.
Cleaned it (it does have some rust or corrosion but thankfully on nothing more than the metal and plastic and nothing vital), thanks to watching this. I wish the PS4 Pro was as open friendly as the PS3 slim or even the PS4 slim. :(
@@DarthDragon007I think there’s starting to form rust on the metal panel u see when u first take the top off… is that bad or is that ok?
@@line7596 I'd probably take it off and use soap/water maybe alcohol to clean it as best you can then dry it off thoroughly before putting it back..
@@DarthDragon007 I’ll try that! Thank you😊
I wouldn't recommend a vacuum for cleaning a fan unless you keep the fan steady while doing it. Terribly bad on the bearings
The insides of my PS4 Pro looked a pit different and all but 2 of the screws had nipples in the center. But I was able to make do with what I had and this video was helpful. Thank you
I followed the tutorial and it worked and there is no jet noise thnx bro❤
Instructions not clear, microwave has now taken over my bedroom and won't let me in.
Just kidding, awesome video, just what I needed.
Awesome 😂
What happens if you take out power supply and when unplugging it it tears the connector piece off body and peels the green flakey stuff
That just happened to me :(
Yeah man me too I’m sad asl now
It looks like you've used some cleaner with your cotton wool pads. If that is the case, could you recommend a cleaner that doesnt damage any of the plastics or electronics? I have some Isoprpyl cleaner, but im unsure if i can use it on the plastic.
For the plastic parts you can simply use water
This white cord after the power supply is on there for me. It doesn't come off? I'm trying to yank the little thing and I really don't want to pull it from the wires which I've tried several times and I know anymore after this will rip the wires off. I just feel it.
Late answer, but for else. If that's the case, you can leave power supply cable on for cleaning everything. Just be careful working. There's actually quite a bit of slack to turn it away when cleaning.
Jesus Christ they put that top cover on like they hid treasure in there or something😂 spent almost 15 minutes trying to get it off I think… then wen I finally got it off I found out we don’t have screwdriver that fits in either of the two kits we have😃 so ig I’ll have to wait to clean it
Great vid, just cleaned our ps4 pro, thanks to this video! Thanks!!!
I can’t take the bottom cover off it’s so hard got a solution??
Also if the cable from the power supply to the motherboard has never been taken out it will be a pain to get out at first so be gentle. My first time trying to clean my ps4 pro i accidentally ripped the cables from the connection and had to get them sautered back together at a electronics shop
think i’ve just done the same
I feel like all you need to do is the first part. After that it’s clean.
i did the samething as you did and omg this works %100 its so quiet when playing god not like a jet anymore
did you just clean the fan or did you clean everything including the heatsink
@@RosJ i clean out both of them that was in this video best way i can so it helps
Bruh thanks alot i just ripper the power connector from my ps4 but the tutorial was good until i broke my ps
Great video. I heard that the fan should not turn while cleaning. Thanks
Yes or no
Thanks man! Cleaned it with the kids helping.
One thing, while Pwrspply out of the way, hold vaccum cleaner with broader tip above fan, directed at an angle. At the same time blow air through grills, to clean them. Fan does not suck air from the back, but blowa is oyt the back. So radiator grills are congested from inside. When you vacuum from the PS side you just draw dirt deeper into grills.
BE CAREFUL, I just did what he said and removed the bottom part of the power supply cord, RIPPING IT OFF. After further research you are supposed to remove it from the top part that connects to the power supply. I believe i have a different model, please add more warnings into this video, i have to get it repaired.
To late i already ripped it
Thanks. Great tutorial. Fired up my Ps4pro since.. Don't even remember and noticed it being quite noisy. Decided to check out cooler and began to check iFixit tutorial, but very quicky got thought that this is overkill. I just need to get access to fan and cooler and what do you tell. YT saves the day. With this got system cleaned up and ready within like 20mins. However, it was in way, way better state than I though and looks (=sounds :) ) like I gotta began to consider possibly replacing compounds in it. But even so. Excellent tutorial in disassembling to get into critical parts, thanks...
Glad it helped
Also, never use the air thing to spin the fan. It'll break the fan. Hold it in place with a q tip
Bruh for my hard disk cover there is a screw that I can’t get to and every video I watch they say “ just pull the hard disc cover and it’ll come right out “ smfh
Nvm ima dumbass
thank for the video bro! I had one scare once when I tried to pull the power supply like you showed instead of coming away like your it started separating and I was like WTF ... then I just looked at it a bit closely and just pushed it back in and it all clicked and it's working for years now and I just clean the fan and the parts beneath the plastic coverings ... I guess I didn't do something right but now I am afraid to try to pull the power supply again :D
Yeah, I heard about this happening a lot. It never happened to me, I dunno why on some consoles it breaks those cables. Usually I’m more afraid of ribbon cables than such cables
Thank you this was sooo helpful you just earned a sub
Thanks for this, just cleaned my ps4 pro for the first time. It was quite clean to be fair, but im hoping this will resolve slight glitches i started getting recently.
Thank you so much walkthrough explaining and showing slowly. Now my ps4 sound silent
Bro which screwdriver is needed to open the back screw that seal needed to be opened with dryer
For the fan cleaning, can i use a microfibric cloth instead of a cotton swab?
Yes, without problem
@@YesterdaysTech i did not expect you to reply that quick after a 9 months vid thanks alot ❤️
I can't do it it'd hard opening the top I'm afraid I will break it.
Use the back of a spoon
help i cant do this
This seems little more complex than my Xbox one x.. my newly acquired ps4 pro from a kid sounds like a jet engine... I'll be doing this aswell.
Just completed this process. All worked like a charm! My newly acquired used ps4 pro is quieter than a kitten.
The wire in the way, mine doesn't come out, and I snapped the wire by accident. So I will never listen to anyone on YT ever again.
I can’t get the seal screw off it has a dot in the middle of the screw and I can’t get a screw driver in there
You need a Torx TR8, that has a hole in the middle
@@YesterdaysTech ok thank you
I got as far as taking the power supply out. As he took the plug "as mentioned" out. I tried to to the same and ripped from of the plug base off. Please don't make the same mistake as me.
Because you pulled too hard maybe
I also made this mistake. About to teach myself to solder so I can fix it. 😅😭
This dude sounds like a villain in a Steven Seagal movie. 😂
😂
Worked like a charm.
Big help after cleaning. Put an SSD drive in it. Get rid of the crappy disk drive. Creates too much heat.
Bro this vid made a my PS4 break it won't turn on no more
Same 😢
You are Da Man!
Why has he got white hands.
Got to ask,, Did you have it in a sawmill? That looks like wood sawdust, not normal dirt and dust.
You're the man i'm definitely subbimg to your channel thank you
Bro this helped so much
Nice video, it helped me. Thanks bud
Glad it helped
How do you remove the bit under the silver plate. Is the middle screw fake?
I can't budge it
Did you try turning it the other way
The screw driver I use just jumps off it. So it's a real screw?
@@SpoodinOot Yea I was using a t8 and it wouldnt budge bc I was turning it the wrong way🤦♂️ then I was able to remove it
Mine has never been open and that screw is a circle. Literally no way to get that off unless i just snap it. Just bs..
DONT REMOVE THE POWER SUPPLY! You can break it by accident!
I thought mine wasn't that dirty but man it's so much more silent now
Can you just clean the fan and be done with it there? I mean, will it stop being so loud by just dusting the fan?
Can you say again what star form screwdriver you used?
Security Torx T8
@@YesterdaysTech thanks.
But it thought it’s two different torx screws? Cause i was able to unscrew the metal plate but after that the one I used was to small for the other screws
This video made my PS4 break when I pulled off the motherboard cable I couldn't put it back in now it won't turn on
Same 😢
@@Kakashl_hatak3 I feel u brutha I feel u
I'm lucky it's only dust but it's the kind that is very hard to get off without water
Thank you! Because while playing suddenly it felt like that there's a jet in my room.
I tried putting out the cable from the Board and i didnt work. Now my ps4 wohnt turn on again 😢
Same 😢
Thanks my console needed ❤
I dont have this special screwdriver is there any other way how i do it or i need to by one?
Bro God bless u cuz it worked and it's silent as hell
Thank you for removing the airplane sound
Did you use alcohol with the q-tips well cleaning the fan?
Yes rubbing alcohol works and hydrogen peroxide
I've cleaned my fan, it's hard to get all the gunked dust of the fan blades, and alot of it falls under neath. My CD player won't work not as a result of my cleaning, it's got the disc not recognised problem and no common fixes will work,. But I nowadays after being sick of the noise and the console over heating and thus causing games to crash more often, I now just play with the lid off, the sound difference is unreal and yes the console is then exposed to more dust. But the PS4 pro is so loud, once you take the lid off, after 20 seconds it goes so quiet. Funny when I first got the pro I remember thinking how quiet it wascompared to other console I'd had, then after about 3 months, it sounded like it was taking off to the moon.
Is there a technique to unplug the power supply cord? Because I've been at it for a little bit, and I don't want to force it too much to where it breaks.
Did you use a T8 screwdriver for the whole breakdown? Where did you get your screwdriver set from ? Link thanks. I need to do a deep clean and add thermal paste.
For a complete disassembly you’d need a Torx T8 and Phillips Screwdriver PH00, PH0 and PH1. There are plenty of PS4 tool kits out there, however, you should find them at any tool store.

It's actually security torx T8. But I disassembled the system with 1,5mm flathead screwdriver. Yes it can be bad for screws, but screw that. I know what I'm doing. Just for those who tend to stuck in the security bit thing. I sure did. Smallest SB TX's I had was 10's in every single toolset I have :)
Here in 2024, i only took off the upper cover and cleaned the vents and the inside, no more plane noises
CRC contact cleaner. You can spray half a can on any electronic device or mother board and its the best way to clean electronics
Well I would highly advice against that without noting that you gotta disassemble everything to small bits. It'll easily make loose dust in thick paste if one tries to use it otherwise. Just to note.
Nah, you gonna make me break my cover
i pulled off the power supply from the circuit board, i was pulling where the guy in the video was pulling and the whole thing came off.
Same, because instructions were wrong, some models apparently have this part glued, so you can't disconnect it. The other end needs to be disconnected.
Wait bus doesnt vacuum cleaners kill the motherboard?
Are all the screws the same size?
can I use a mini vacuum cleaner and clean it away so it pulls a little and not break it
If a mini vacuum cleaner is the handheld type, that won’t do much and is not powerful enough if your PS4 Pro got some really amount of dust in there. If you check this video th-cam.com/video/82V_kWSkgHA/w-d-xo.html you can see the large amount of dust is stuck on the other side of radiator so unless you wanna fully disassembly it, you need a powerful vacuum cleaner. If you’re ready for a complete teardown, then you don’t need a vacuum at all
Hmm the screw isn’t where the hard drive is on mine
How'd you take out that white cord? I'm having a tough time.
Just pull it, should not be that hard
@@YesterdaysTech I got it but thank you for replying! :)
You're welcome 🙂
Mine ripped the port off the circuit board
Really? 😳
I was trying to take the cover off but when I heard it was about to come off I thought I was gonna break it 😅
😂
You really helped with that video, but my ps4 is still so loud I don't know what to do
I have another video where I also replace the thermal compound, that may help
Just ripped out my power connector 😔
Same tf am i supposed to to do now
My thing is now destroyed could you help me in some way?
Hello, im am wondering is it ok if i do not touch the power supply. Since its my first time doing it i am a little scared to touch it.
If the PS4 Pro is unplugged, there's no need to be afraid
It's ok to handle, but just don't put anything inside the casing. Capasitors could shock you even after dissabled, but it's actually virtually impossible to insert like your hands inside components.
I am having problems trying to put the ps4 parts in, I am actually kinda stuck.
Great video thank you so much brudder!
I can take off the cover but i cant get to the fan 😢
Man thanks for the warning that when u unplug the power supply u could rip the whole connector off the board just trashed my PS4 😢 no warning u just reached down grabbed it came unplugged I go to do it I'm up a creek go figures
The background porn music is gold
That fan is tiny compared to the PS5s fan. No wonder the heat and noise is dramatically different.
1:18 one of the screws is stripped how would I go about getting it out
My ps4 is still VERY loud and I did everything you did
Maybe your vacuum wasn't powerful enough. I suggest a full disassembly like I did in this video: th-cam.com/video/82V_kWSkgHA/w-d-xo.html
@@YesterdaysTech thank you I will check it out
Thx so much you are so good❤
That was not really clean though. So much dust left inside. Fan was supposed to be out completely and thoroughly cleaned. Also the main point of doing this is to make the console as efficient and silent as possible which you can obtain only by having a high quality thermal paste applied which didn’t. Hopefully that worked for you but people should know this is not the way to clean things. Good luck
That would be a full teardown and a deep cleaning, I have a separate video for that
So upload a vid hiw to do it properly if not stfu
Oh c'mon the video is about cleaning the system. It's obvious that paste replacement can be the issue, but in most cases it's simply the dust, especially inside cooler. This covers that _really_ well.
How you are repairing in your ps4 pro?
What do you mean?
@@YesterdaysTech but On next day I'll got to repairing my console ps4
Good
thank you for the tutorial
If your shit over heating but some canned air and spray the sides and the fan but make sure to do it outward so your not blowing the dust into the console then buy a mini table fan for 10$ at Walmart and put it facing your ps4 right side where the fan is and it woll never over heat again
Thanks a lot about the power supply I fucking don’t have a working ps4 anymore
