Very nice unmolested truck. However, two things: It's not an "Apache" (as you first mentioned). The Apache name didn't come out until 1958, and was dropped after '61. Secondly, you said that the hood ornament was "original". No, it's not....none of the "Task Force" generation Chevy trucks ('55 to '59) were fitted with a hood ornament.....only the front badging on the hood (not withstanding the side fender badging). It's safe to assume that a prior owner added that jet plane ornament before you acquired the truck.
That hood ornament was a dealer installed accessory offered by Chevrolet for 1955 and 1956. Two rocket hood ornaments for 1957 were available that set on hood wind splits.
