Remember my comment the Duramax won't be last in the Ike gauntlet test... The way the truck is packaged it makes heavy loads seem light and inspires confidence!!!
Yep. I completely agree. Same thing with the next-gen gas engines too.
You can't go by the Ike gauntlet test because they all ways tell a lie when it comes to Cummins they all ways put the Cummins last.
@@stevearrington6886 While I agree "too much/little chrome" is not something I want to see a scale about, it pretty much closes the door on a couple mfg for their HD gas trucks... With this logic, you can also consider or eliminate on the diesels as well. What this channel shows me is FCA/Cummins need to get the transmission nonsense completely cured once and for all. It's clearly still an issue.
You need to put the GMs in cruise control to really use the exhaust brake correctly
Why not set cruise at 70 on every truck you test and let it do the work? Feel like that would be a better way of showing what the truck wants to do. Anyways love the videos have a Merry Christmas.
Only way to truly test a truck is to set cruise control and let the computer do it’s thing, come on Eddie you been told before......
It's not recommended to use cruise control while towing. I tow 32ft rv.
Been doing it for years with my gmc trucks never had a problem... Maybe you should try it!!
Oslec Liedbag is that in the owner’s manual?
Smoking is not recommended yet people still smoke. Like I said been towing for 10 years 36’ toy hauler no problems those are my facts. Can anyone else agree we will see wait looks like I have a like comment on here already....
What i thought was interesting, is the difference in boost compared to your ram, where the l5p was at 27 psi and your ram was almost 40 psi. I would be interested to see the oil temps. I think gm programs their engine/trans to run at a higher rpm for protection/ longevity reasons. I would say running at 27 psi for an extended period is a lot easier on internals compared to running at 38 psi, but that’s just my thoughts. Great video though, your tow tests are really informative, and I really appreciated you hooking up the I-dash.
David Smaus boost is a measure of restriction
When are you gonna race them? Side by side, traction control off, 4wd 0-60. No bullshit. Let’s see which is faster? It would be fun to watch. Great video!
The duramax will blow the ram away I've done it
The torque of the Cummins in-line 6 cylinder is hard to beat. I am glad my Cummins doesn’t need all of those extra gears. You should have turned around at the bottom of 8 west with the ding ding and see how it likes that long grade.
Love the video. The RAM when loaded is is awesome. There is no doubt that's what it's made for. The GM is just easier to drive around town and smoother when unloaded. You cant go wrong with either truck. Keep up the good work.
And holds 50% more payload
Miss the old towing tests where he would measure squat and put truck in drive to see if it will move without giving gas
Gotta give it to the ram for pulling in the low RPM. Can’t stand high engine revs on long trips. Makes the drive so much more noisier
Have you ever towed with a straight piped Cummins there is no such thing as quiet with that
10:40 you're describing defuel on shifts until it goes back in TCC lockup and the shift is confirmed to be completed. They all do it but on Ram it's really pronounced. Once the shift is done, it hammers with fuel to give you that feeling and it comes back on boost. Your gauges won't show that happening because they don't update fast enough. You can see it on the vehicle specific pids on efilive or hptuners scanners or a dyno graph. Ram needs to go back to the drawing board on their transmission again. The trans in the GM and Ford are used in the 6500/F650/F750 trucks as options. Ram has nothing like those trucks and why they're constantly struggling for transmissions. They get the best MPG and are the least expensive option of the three.
Im pretty sure @Eddieslife you can have the Idash show you what gear your in.
what was the weight of the ding ding loaded with fuel and water? my trailer is around 8k loaded. Ram has zero issues. just curios on what you think yours weighs.
Chevy changed the Interior of the new Tahoes. Guessing trucks are next..
Could only hope
Should of let the truck do it’s own shifting, would of kept the RPMs down.
i did and no it does not keep the RPMs down it likes that 2200 and up
I wish gm would not offer only one rear end gear, a 3.42 just sounds way to high for a dually. I really wish they would have at least a 4.10. Only reason I won’t be looking at a new gm dually even though it’s now rated to tow as much as everyone else
You do realize that the old Allison trans 1st gear was 3.11/1 the 10 speed 1st gear is 4.08/1 don't need 4.10s
@@onlythetruth5433 when you try to pull 30k you will want it.
Remember the more aggressive your rear gear ratio is the easier it is on your powertrain however it comes at the expense of efficiency.
@@KoolCordell transmission ratios and gears are far more important same reason most semi's are only a 3.55 axle they have low trans gears
Ok thx for the honest rivew so i keep my denali l5p 2018... maybe is time to tune the l5p to feel more love
I would like to see you do a comparison between the Ram, GMC and 2020 Ford Powerstroke.
That number on the vane position is how closed it is not open. The number will increase and boost will build.
when boost builds the vane position will decrease not increase
Watch your vane position as you give it more gas they will close up a bit the open back up at the truck settles at speed.
I live in AZ so this question is about towing a trailer in CA. Do they not enforce the 55 MPH max speed limit if you have a trailer? All the tow videos you don't seem to worry about that.
they do but i take the risk for you guys
@@EddieLife3500 I do about 80 until I hit the border. Then it kills me doing 60 the rest of the way lol
If you look at payload numbers on both Ram & GMC on your he 2500, the GMC is far & above better. Not sure which drives nicer
Whoever approved of this Denali interior should be pointed out in a public forum and laughed at... Shit INTERIOR!
Can you find a 2020 ford to compare the ram too
im looking
@@EddieLife3500
Ok man I talked crap and said the Duramax pulled great and was an awesome truck.. I know drive a 2019 ram 3500 dually with 4:10 aisin....the Duramax was I'm the shop more than I had it and GM ended up buying it back! The ram with the 1000 lb tourque definitely outpulls the Duramax and is just to me more of a heavy duty truck
What did you get for MPG?
No idea man never really paid attention to it
FINALLY thank you so much Eddie right on Christmas Eve that means a lot and like I predicted that 10 speed is ok but like I say and coming from a Ford guy that Cummins is meant and built to pull and tow while doing it effortlessly and I know exactly what you mean when it shits up it continues to pull that’s the beauty of Cummins in-line 6 Diesels VS a V8 and I’m not hating on Duramax or powertroke and again coming from a Ford guy I accept that ram is better for pulling because of the Cummins Engine it’s what semis used in the past and still use to this day that’s why your Ram pulls so well and good but also most importantly it’s breaking power is just as amazing and crushed the other two in stopping a load
Just imagine when Cummins gets a 10speed those low starting gears will multiple the torque like crazy oh wait A ram with a 10speed lol they can't even build a 4/6 speed
Creed Moore65 exactly brotha exactly what I’m saying I can only imagine the pulling power lol maybe someday 😂
@@jonmaciel4696 people only talk about gear ratios in the axle however the starting gears in the transmission multiple power way more same reason you can take a stock 12 valve Cummins with a manual and pull 30k just let out the clutch and it goes if you were to take the auto trans in that year it wouldn't tow that trailer. Some manuals have a 6.29/1 1st or low gear same year for autos may be 2.45/1 ect it's all in the transmission
@@onlythetruth5433 or a 8 speed
Merry Christmas Eddie
Your dad doesn’t use this as a Daily?
Edgar H252 dude his dad is retired probably chilling at the crib. They’re rich anyways so they probably got multiple cars
daaneel just because he’s retired doesn’t mean he’s not out and about every day and Eddie uses his Ram as his daily even though he has other cars.
Edgar H252 clearly he doesn’t drive the truck that much if he always lets Eddie use it
Is it a 2500 or a 3500 ? just got my 3500 denali last month haven’t towed yet
you will like it it towed good and this one is a 2500
Eddie's Life ya I towed a 28 foot last week it did good with my Chevy SS inside but I need more power how’s that banks work ? Cause I heard you have to get a aftermarket ecu by hp tuners to even do that delete on it gm is the only one like that now a days 🤦🏻♂️
Travis Marionneaux i would recommend to check out Denny Diesel on TH-cam. He deleted his 2020 Denali HD
I still think the Cummins is the way to go for pulling 😬💪🏻
mikestrucks I agree. It seems like the Duramax acts more like a powerful gas engine. The Cummins is a like a tractor engine, it’s happy pulling at low rpm.
Rides like a tractor to!!
What’s the altitude there?
natey891 I can only speak for those guys that come over and sit around his “ Hooka “ pipe.... “ Altitude is ..... High’ as you can get !’🤪
Hes going from 1800 to 3500 in this video
You ever pull through or to Lake Cuyamaca?
No sir
You should test pull through that Highway or if you really have time. Come to the mountains for a pull test. Like 2 hrs from SD
I have a 2020 dodge 1 ton and it is garbage compared to my 2019 duramax 1 ton.
I still missed the actual mpg numbers after all that
The manual shift ?
At 12:12 I still see you didn't fix the strobe light
cash5150 got em
I believe those strobes are designed to keep mice out. Hear mice dont like the flashing effect.
I hate that tablet they put in the dashboard of the Ram. Yeah let's get the eyes off the road even more by looking at the bottom of that thing to do anything. Bad enough people can't focus with their phones.
Yeah I kind of agree. It seems nice I suppose but in a tow vehicle is that really necessary? You gotta scroll through different screens to operate different functions? IDK- I hear the ram interior is amazing but the duramax I find to be such a fantastic driving/towing experience
you better test the new ford.. that thing is a monster! my buddy has one and its as fast as my 2018 deleted on lvl 2 sotf.
DHiller yeah but get hit with a bug and you got a dent in that ford... not good
@@jgoings13 fake news.. been hotshotting on a f450 for 278k miles been through 48 states and never dented on a bug. quit bullshitting your self.
DHiller chill out Keyboard warrior we have not owned a new ford just watched a review from a TH-camr rat man Roden and he did a 10k reviewand had all kinda dents from bugs.... we run dodge and Chevy beat the hell out of them plow snow... multiply people drive them and they keep on chugging...
@@jgoings13 keyboard warrior? your the one who sounded like one! read my comment and read your comment.. do what ever floats your boat and if you want we can meet and ill let you ride with me. we go 1k miles and if we didnt bent a hood or anything with hitting bugs you give me $1000 and if we bent anything ill give $1500? deal?
DHiller dang bub now we’re talking money over a bug dent... you must be pressed have a good one be safe out there trucking..
You should try out a Lbz Duramax
Bad ass Truck
American 💪💪💪🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
10 speed💪💪💪💪💪
Love the channel. Duramax with 10 speed did great. But honestly tired of hearing u & Ryan always cry about the interior of that truck. It’s a very nice truck. But anyways always watching your videos
The issue with trucks is that they are priced at numbers that rival some very nice luxury cars but people forget you're paying that price not for the interior, which is what people see everyday, but for the capabilities and the power plant.
Although I will say I miss the days in the early 2000 when leather was a $700 option unlike nowadays were Ford forces you into a lariat for 20,000 over in XL.
Okay same story Duramax can't pull past a 1/1 trans ratio as where Cummins will pull in 6th gear 0.63/1 gear trash wait to ram gets a 10speed
you talk about the Ram like it's your sister, bro.
@@jamms2966 ya bro all trucks are over priced garbage bro
Feliz navidad pendejos :)
There are recalls Duramaxs are overheating and engines blowing up. Stay far far away from anything GM/CHEVY as the quality is horrible... If your in the truck market stick with Ford. Scotty kilmer Highly advises against GM.
Have an 07 chevy Silverado that never overheats. Thats bs, take care of vehicles and they will run for years.
