  • Hello Everyone!
Here is a 1990s Goldair Desk fan with its original box. I recently bought this fan off of Trademe. This fan as I have always remembered is identical to my Mistral 1218 Desk fan with its original box. Well funnily enough, When I 1st read the instruction manual not only was all the pictures the same but on the back page it has the Mistral brand with it as both Mistral and Goldair are a brand made by PDL here in New Zealand. Of course in Australia there is Mistral over there. But Some of New Zealand made mistral fans are typically manufactured by PDL (Which is the New Zealand version of Clipsal). When I 1st tested this fan it was all locked up as it hadn't been used for a long time as these C-Frame motors are common for being stiff. I just ran it for a couple of minutes and it came back to life.
It has 2 Speeds and Oscillation. I had to run it for a bit before making this video as the bearings were still getting used to the fan getting used. I am very happy to have this fan in my collection. There is a slightly earlier model of this Goldair fan that uses a Dark grey switch and a square motor cover. I am more of a "fan" of this style though, (Fan Pun). This fan has a very long cord for a small fan of this size. As you can see the front side of the box was a little bit ripped up as I had to carefully peel it off as it was sent in its box through the courier and the label was placed on the front side.
This fan was bought from New World (Which is a New Zealand supermarket) Back in February 1999. I didn't expect to see these fans being sold at New World as I have always known Goldair to be sold at MITRE 10, Briscoes, Farmers, Noel Leeming and Harvey Norman. This fan was sold under Deceased estate so likely the people that signed the warranty section were the ones that passed. And the Daughter or Son were the ones that sold it to me on Trademe.
Background noise was my Mother doing stuff around the house.
