In 2020 I made another time travel to Soviet times by visiting Barentsburg and Pyramiden. They are Russian towns operated by Russia in the Norwegian territory of Svalbard situated closer to the North Pole than any settlement in Siberia. Barentsburg is still populated. Pyramiden was abandoned in the90s but being maintained by a few Russians.
Actually, the name of the first city is Tighina, it is a city of Moldovan/Romanian origins, on the right bank of the Nistru river and is hundreds of years old.

The area of Transnistria was once heavily settled by the Germans at the invitation of Kathrine the Great. After Germans lost WWII all the remaining German settlers were exiled to Siberia by Stalin and the region was populated with Russians. That's why Transnistria has such a Russian influence and Putin has a military base there but it all started with Stalin.....
Liar, wake up. Russians have been living on the territory of Transnistria since the 18th century. Transnistria became part of the Russian Empire as a result of its victory in the Russo-Turkish War of 1787-1792, which was secured by the Iasi Peace Treaty between Russia and Turkey.

Moldova wasn’t as lucky as other countries that were able to break away from the USSR. Similarly to Ukraine, Moldova is still considered one of the most corrupt countries, which seems to happen the stronger the Russian influence is in a country.

@@3dfxvoodoocards6 Exactly this. Some of these points can also apply to Ukraine, which is why Russia invaded the Donbass in the first place. 6:43 That isn't the Russian flag.. In 2009, the Supreme Council discussed a proposal to replace the civil flag - which is plain red-green-red without the hammer and sickle - with a new flag, carrying three horizontal stripes in the colours white, blue, and red, being nearly identical to the flag of the Russian Federation, but with a different aspect ratio (1:2 instead of Russia's 2:3). The primary reason for the co-official national flag is that it indicates Transnistria's desire for closer ties with Russia, a guarantor of Transnistria's claimed independence from Moldova. In a 2006 referendum, 97.2% of Transnistrians were reported to have voted in favour of increased free association with Russia. The new flag is used alongside the state flag.
