Westside Carnival which is a festival of masquerade dance displays organized by Skyy Power FM is the biggest Christmas fun-fair marked in Takoradi on 26th December

The Twin Cities, such a fun place.
I really enjoy the masquerades.
One thing I would ask is that the masqueraders stick to the locally made masks.
Because they are authentic, amusing, have more substance and are more fascinating than the store bought imported versions. In fact the locally made masks are quite ingenious.
Not to mention it means local economies and artisans benefit more.
I also feel that some of the dance steps resemble that of the Dogon people - is there a connection ?
The masquerade style is quite a contrast from that of Winneba.
It is great to see that these events are growing and participation is by everyone no matter social status, that is togetherness !!!
