- VUITY™ is the first and only FDA-approved eye drop to treat age-related Blurry Near Vision (presbyopia) in adults. These drops are designed to help people in their 40's and older read without glasses.
I tried vuity (since I have presbyopia) and analyzed the results after 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 and 2 hours.
I share my experience and conclusions.
Financial disclosure: I have no financial interest in any of the products presented in this video. My goal is that we deliver the best technology for each patient to help them see their best.
I appreciate the time spent on this review and the thoroughness and honest evaluation of the effects of Vuity eye drops. Your channel is my #1 source of info when I need eye advice.
I have big problems with blurred vision due to scales on my eyes. Will these drops help??
i dont need my reading glasses anymore to look at my smartphone or tablet so these drops are a godsend for me. I dont know about anyone else but it makes my life a lot better and is well worth it.
Where did you buy the drops
Just starting to have patients come in asking about it, the few that have tried it were not impressed and self dc'd (mostly blurry distance VA, one with headache, and no one felt their near vision was all that better). Thanks for sharing!
I have been trying the Vuity drops for about a week. I am not impressed. While they do improve my vision, I still had difficulty focusing on my computer screen. I also noticed they wear off within 3 or 4 hours. My Dr. said I could reapply, but that would be very expensive. I will go back to my multifocal contacts. They are the best option for me at this point.
You can try nano-grade eye drops, the last-ditch treatment for presbyopia.
Nano-grade eye drops consists of God's extract of clay and pure water
and only AGE-breaker (advanced glycation endproducts breakers).
All glory belong to God !
Try pinhole glasses for computer screen viewing.
Most detailed review I have found on Vuity. Thank you.
I have tried the Vuity drops for a few weeks now, on and off. I found I can read better within a few minutes, and in my case the effect lasts for 12 hours or more. I can get a mild transitory headache from it, but reading small print and not wearing reading glasses has been worth it so far! I have driven at night and had no issues, and no discernable effect on distance vision either. In my case, it has been a good effect. I have to do a great deal of fine print reading and have to switch often from the fine print to computer screens, so I have been very pleased with the Vuity results thus far. I should add I had LASIK over 14 years ago to finally get rid of glasses and contacts at that time, so when I had to start wearing reading glasses, I was not a happy camper, lol. So far, so good with Vuity!
You don't know nano-grade eye drops.
Nano-grade eye drops should be the last-ditch treatment for presbyopia
because nanoparticles of nano-grade eye drops are AGEs-breakers too.
Furthermore, nano-grade eye drops can cure cataracts without IOL surgery.
In reality, western medication can't effectively treat and reverse various
eye diseases, such as wet-AMD, open-angle glaucoma, cataracts, Stargardt's
The same here.
I've tried them a few times. They completely clear up my myopia and astigmatism. They do very little for my presbyopia. I wouldn't consider driving at night while under their influence unless it was an emergency. The light reduction is severe. They seem to have very limited use cases. ...for me at least. Not having to wear corrected sunglasses while driving through the desert at Noon is probably best case. I'd probably still need contacts to read GPS.

Hy I am 25 year old so can I eligible to buy this or use for my self
You are genius doctor. Brilliant description of problem & the answer.
Another informative, straightforward, credible, practical video. Thank you.
I'm an avid reader and with these drops i no longer need my reading glasses. I know its not a big deal but im happy as a lark about it!
I appreciate the time you took to test this drop for the treatment of presbyopia. As an ophthalmologist, I would be hesitant to prescribe this medication due to the numerous side effects and the potential to increase the risk of retinal detachment and make cataract surgery more complicated if the pupil can no longer dilate. I just looked up the price. Vuity is $80-85 dollars a bottle vs. $22.00 for Pilocarpine 1%. I would be really curious to understand the business case for this medication.
As a software engineer, even I was aware of the risks. EDOF lens implant seems safer, but I can't parse the knowledge well enough to be 100%. That said, even if they're equally safe (which they aren't) expensive eye drops daily seems like it's only buying time. One will still need to eventually do the surgery on one's eye(s) or rely on reading glasses.
I actually paid $100 for the Vuity. I was already wearing bifocals and still don’t understand why the doctor prescribed it. I have used it twice in the months I have had the bottle.
Here Country 🇲🇾 Malaysia
Pharmacy got selling this Vuity Eye drop?
I tried the eye drops (I was so excited) they did nothing for me. I paid $84 and you get just a small amount and insurance doesn’t cover them. I won’t be getting my 3 refills and I won’t be using them again. It’s amazing to me what gets FDA approval these days. Especially if these are known to cause retina detachment.
Great review and thanks for the tests, all very helpful! I was hyperopia and my eyesight was perfect upto ~45 years old then the presbyopia started to bother me and became worse and worse. Now I have to use +350 reading glasses. I recently underwent a LPI to prevent glaucoma. Before the laser surgery, I took 1% Pilocarpine eye drops, about 10 drops in each eye in 30 min. After the surgery, my eyesight became perfect again! Without reading glasses I can clearly see objects from very close to very far. The improvement was extremely significant. No headache, however the pinhole effect was strong due the to constricted pupil, it darkened the vision. All effects lasted for about 16 hours. I tested it again in another day, one drop each eye, the effect lasted about 10 to 12 hours. Later on I learned late last year FDA approved the use of Piocarpine eye drops for treatment of presbyopia, sounded a great news to me. Glad to see the discussion here. Trying to learn more.
As a glaucoma specialist, I was quite surprised when I saw this drop come to market. This has become a last resort for most glaucoma due to its side effect profile (which you described) though still helpful short-term as part of the treatment for acute angle closure. A potential side effect of retinal detachment is a good reason to avoid its use. Another potential side effect of long term use is scarring down of the iris to the lens which complicates future cataract surgery. I will never prescribe pilocarpine for presbyopia.
I don't foresee vuity as being widely adopted in the marketplace over the next 1-2 years. More sizzle than steak.
@@ShannonWongMD or gristle than steak
Western medication forever can't effectively treat and reverse presbyopia.
Nano-grade eye drops is the last-ditch treatment for presbyopia.
Nano-grade eye drops consists of God's extract of clay and pure water only.
From wet-AMD, open-angle glaucoma, cataracts, presbyopia, dry eyes,
Stargardt's, etc., nano-grade eye drops is the only solution.
In fact, some American eye patients are deeply appreciated nano-grade eye drops,
God's mercy.
Nano-grade eye drops are AGEs-breakers too and can bring lipofuscin out of
RPE or Stargardt's can't be effectively treated and reversed.
All glory belongs to God!
I think making pupil miotic, increase the depth field of view, so increased range for near vision a little, but comes with its own side effects...
Why would it cause retinal detachment and scarring of the lense? I’d love to read more about that. Can you point me in the right direction? Just got my drops in and I’m over the moon with the results. Definitely want to understand all the risks. Thank you
Thank you for the professional review of this product. Very helpful for those of us who are considering this.
I have used Vuity for a month, I’m 52 and had the exact same results, with only a slight improvement. I had to either use my contacts or reading glasses to function at work because the drops did not help me enough to not need them. I will not be buying them again but it was a hopeful thought unfortunately it didn’t work for me.
What a great review!! Thank you for taking time and doing so much detail, I wish you would review every type product. I will look for any others you may put out.
I Just tried the Vuity drops, I Got a brow discomfort or eye discomfort, I applied them this morning 10:24 Am, it has been an hour and My vision is WOW!!!
So kind of you to take this time Dr. Inspiring for other physicians. Alcon should had contact you before selling this. 👍
I just turned 53 and probably around 2yrs ago I was on the verge of needing reading glasses. So I started taking the best eye supplements I could find. I take physicians choice eye health, Astaxanthin, life extension macuguard and their Brite eyes 3 eye drops.I also do daily eye exercises.
Now I feel like my eyes are pretty close to how they were in my early 40s and I can read great now.
I do spend a fair amount on supplements but they are working great for me.

Thanks for your detailed video. Very informative. I’ve been using Vuity for a week and have not noticed any improvement for reading. I have green eyes and I’m 65 years old. Had headache(s) the first couple of times I used the drops. So far, it’s not working, so I’ll be relying on my reading glasses.
Thanks for your attention to detail. You really give thorough attention to the questions.
I tried VUITY waited about ten minutes and it worked for me. I could see pretty clearly. The only thing is it only lasted about three hours.
I noticed with your demonstration the stuff you could see was black on white only. The receipt and the eye chart.
EDIT: I also have blue eyes
I got a free sample from my ophthalmologist today. After one hour there’s no discernible difference. 2020 far, 1.5-2.0 readers depending on material. Sixty years old.
Appreciate your effort of testing product and sharing the result. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing that, helpful to see it in action to determine if it was even worth asking my ophthalmologist about.
MFSCL low add distance centre in one eye and high add near centre in the other eye, works a treat. if emmetropic, slap a +1.00DS with a Hi N-Centre in the none dominant eye.
the vuity will probably do wonders to astigmats though.
Thanks DR. What a helpful honest review…I’m 43 now and just started noticing the slight blurry vision up close…I don’t need readers yet but I know it’s coming so when I seen this advertisement I was a little skeptical but curious.
This is a great review. I agree with you that either multifocal or EDOF intraocular lens implants with refractive lens exchange surgery are more effective than Vuity eye drops for presbyopia treatment.
I agree about RLE. However, my eyes are 20/25 which means they are not bad enough to qualify for RLE. Ugh. Need to wait a couple more years. Until then, I've found that Vuity helps at times -- depends on what I'm doing (if I'm pixel peeping it's doesn't help compared to general reading).
You're wrong. Nano-grade eye drops that consists of God's extract of clay and
pure water should be the last-ditch treatment for presbyopia.
Compared to nano-grade eye drops, western ophthalmology seems so primitive.
From wet-AMD, open-angle glaucoma, catarcts, Stargardt's, etc., nano-grade
eye drops should be the last-ditch treatment. Furthermore, nano-grade eye drops
are AGE-breakers too.
All glory belongs to God !
Nano-grade eye drops does belong to nano-medication. Nano-medication is
based on:
God created humans out of an extract of clay from ground.
An extract of clay are universal ligand and only AGE-breaker and
can effectively treat lipofuscin problem.
Another thing you could try is to increase the brightness of the light where you are testing. Since less light is making it to the eye, that may sharpen your close up vision with the drug.
Thank you for your commentary, I will stick to using trifocals.
Thanks doctor Wong for this very informative video on this subject and thanks for your honesty
Appreciate your honesty 👍🏽
It’s interesting to see how he put the drops in. I always hold my head back to allow the drop to fall in the center & roll to the sides. I read on webmd to keep the head back for a full minute without allowing the drop to escape. I’ve been using for 6 days with no change but not one to give up. Oh I’m just using the samples at this point although I have a 90-day Rx. I truly thought this DO would slander the drop in favor of the lens replacement surgery bc that’s one of his specialties. But the analysis & conclusion seem legit. $79 is definitely cheaper than thousands but I’m not against lens replacement either. Still weighing my options but grateful for this review.
Excellent review. Thank you so much ❤
Thanks for the review. I'm just over 50 with blue eyes, wearing 1.25x readers. Tried Vuity for first time today. It caused a horrible headache that lasted for at least 30 minutes, and felt like my eye balls were being squeezed. Couldn't focus mentally, so what's the point of seeing clearer?! It caused me to feel physically ill with mild nausea and some body aches. Was not expecting that! Sure, it helped a bit. I could read the tiny numbers around my watch for a few hours, for example, but not worth the side effects for me. $80 learning experience. Wish I'd gotten a sample first!
Does insurance cover it?
A great review from a professional.
Thank you.It's been really helpful.
Thank you for your honest review!
I’m so excited for multiple reasons like learning out how to leave a comment ( still don’t know how on tv) first off. 🤣 To have someone to take time to explain and demonstrate in such detail is a beautiful thing . I am most excited that there might be an answer to my problem. I’m a type of person that can’t keep up with glasses I take them off and on off and on off and on I just have a very hard time dealing with the reading glasses and I’m not like other people I really really struggle I can have 20 pair glasses and I still can’t find a pair . It’s beyond frustrating. Needing reading glasses has changed who I am and my quality of life. I don’t know if it’s because I’m ADHD or not but because I’m so inadequate about wearing glasses it makes me just avoid it. I get something to hang around my neck and I just rip them off without even consciously knowing it. I put finger prints all over them I lay lens side down to scratch. I know what I’m supposed to do and not do. Don’t touch the lens and so on but I just never have the thought I’m taking off my glasses I’m not even aware of it so while this might be convenient and cosmetically nice it could potentially life changing for me
Really? Put a rubber band on your wrist to remind you to act age- appropriate and stay focused.
Thank you Doc .Much appreciated
Excellent video! Thank you! 👍🏻👍🏻💪🏻⭐️
... and the tv commercial makes it seem like a damn instant miracle
Terrific evaluation. Thank you.
I'm seeing retina detachment as a possible adverse reaction. How common is that? If it's even 1% of patients, another Symfony/ESOD seems 10x less dangerous and would give you better vision in low light.
Greatly appreciated. Thank you for sharing
Thank you so much Dr, for this great information
Thanks for the review. I keep thinking since the lens implant cleared up your right eye. Why.didnt you.have same surgery.to the other eye. Sorry if this has been asked before
Thanks for the great analysis and explanation. Now I'd like to see data showing what percent of a large study group gains how much improvement in vision. For example, do 10% of subjects have much greater pupillary constriction and get more lines of improvement + more problems with night vision?
Thanks for trying in an implant eye!
Excellent video. Thank you!
Excellent analysis of vuity Thank you 😊
I tried Vuity and had the same experience as you. I have hazel eyes so I don't think eye color has any impact. The dramatic darkening that it causes when it "kicks in" is trippy in a vampire sort-of-way. I've tried it 3 times and had the same disappointing experience each time. I will be ordering progressives that correct for my presbyopia. I hear that there are 8 other companies working on presbyopia-correcting drops - some that work by softening the lens rather than constricting the pupils. I'll be willing to try that approach if such a drop is ever FDA approved. Until then, I'll have to put up with readers. I'm up to a +3 reader at this point.
I’ll be 64 in July and haven’t developed it yet. But sure, live long enough, I suppose 100% may get it, particularly if they make it until their 80’s and beyond.
I was hoping you'd address the use of the drops with contacts.
Thank you,Dr..Wong for this view of this eye drop.I did Not thin,it would be that effective,as I thought " new" products of medications, are something I do Not automatically trust nor think, will work right away.My experience with the pharmaceutical companies,is affected by own critical thinking skills, and Aldo, with a cautious view of the drug industry.I am a healthcare professional myself,Dr.Wong, and I very much appreciate your invaluable assessment of this eye drop.Sincerely,Nancy,Missouri.
for floaters, you already have eye drops or treatment other than vitrectomy.
Great review. May I ask why you did not put an implant in both of your eyes?
Can I have only one eye with IOL and keep my better eyes with my natural lent?
Thank you for the information.
Thanks Dr for the insightful analysis. Helpful. What kind of lens implant do you have? I cannot see up close but far I am good. I would like to see near again but not sure if Lasik is a better choice. I am also around you age range. Thanks
Symfony lens - right eye - placed 3/30/2017.
There's also the big risk of retinal detachment for those with pre-existing retinal issues
Is this any different than the medication that's been used to pre glaucoma since the 1950s? I believe it's the same substance that have different concentration.
(edit)
I see you actually answered that q later in the video.
great comparison of products
It's funny, I have low vision under LED bulbs but under the sun I see perfectly in close and far away. What's that?
I very appreciate. Very helpful.
Appreciate you testing the vuity drops, but you as an eye doctor or any doctor, you only tried it two times? In one eye each? That seems like a quick test?
Just thought you would've done at least a week? I'm giving it a month. But I'm having not exactly stellar results myself.
So the question I have is...
Are there other eye medications, prescriptions, that work better? Obviously it's a new medicine but I'm curious if there's a variation, different dosages or improved medication now or upcoming?
wonderful video Sir
Hi. Congrats for your hard word and didactic in educating us.
IMHO, you should do a vídeo explaining how is your experience as a surgeon, using the operate microscope and having a Synphony iol in your rigth eye and being presbiopic in the left eue with your lens.
How is your perspective as a surgeon? How do you feel in seeing trough the microscope lens.
(Sorry about the english).
Thanks a lot. Wish you the best.
Thank you that's a nice presentation
15 years children can use this??
Doc, why did you only do the lens in your right eye? I (48 yrs) was good until about 2-3 years ago. Long-distance is still fantastic. Thanks for putting this together.
I have a presbyopia-correcting lens implant in my other (right eye).
@@ShannonWongMD Yes, but why did you only do the implant in one eye?
He did it for risk mitigation. He's got a half hour video explaining his reasoning, how the surgery went, and so on. Browse the channel's videos, and you'll find it quickly.
very informative sir.......
Hi Doc Shannon, im almost 50 and living here in the Philippines. Not sure if we have the technology already to do eye lens implant. May I know how much that surgery cost?
I would say as an optometrist that we also have to consider this working better or only working for people who have emmetropia. Or undergone refrsctive surgery to become emmetropia.
I've tried vuity on several patients so far....no great improvement on any of them thus far.
Good review. I just heard them talking about this in the media within the past week or so. My thought was, wow, that would be great, but is it safe? But so far, the reviews such as yours have not shown the product to be quite effective enough/versus risks at this point in time, at least from customer reviews I've seen/read. It's 80.00. So in conclusion, I suppose I won't venture to consider it, at least at this point in time. This review was very helpful. I was almost thinking that for certain things, I could have days to back off the readers, but..not yet.
I will however remain hopeful:)
My thoughts exactly.
How many bottles we have to use. Is it for long time or only till we use after that we loose sight
I'm curious. My ophthalmologist gave me a printout of my exam. I see a PS for both left and right: 4.1 and 4.3. I assume these are my pupil sizes in mm, but are those sizes constricted or dilated?
Did you have any side effects? I had a terrible time - raised my bp, my neck felt scary tight and my mouth felt like it does before u throw up. Not to mention its $80 thank you SO much for making this video - makes me feel better about my decision to disagree with my dr and not use this (sorry i posted this before u covered side effects 🤓) and i do have brown eyes. It worked a little after the aide effects backed off maybe 2 hrs in but only lasted a few hrs for me
How does it affect distance?
WILL YOU MAKE AN EYE DROP WHERE I CAN SEE FAR BECAUSE I HAVE NO PROBLEM SEEING CLOSE
I take my glasses off to read fine print. Once upon a time ago, I could read the OED without the magnifying glass.
Who to see for a lens implant ? Cost ?
If this drop work a bit like a pinhole glasses this should improve vision for myopia too right?
Hi Doctor! I am starting to show early signs of cataract on both eyes. Do you think I can still use this?
Do u need to get all 4 covid booster shots for these eye drops to work
I have accommodation insufficiency so I have a lot of eyestrain doing anything up close, even with glasses. Would Vuity help at all with this?
Thank you Dr Wong. I'm 42 & blue eyed. My readers are 1.50. I'm interested in trying the drops but the night driving is my concern. I've been dealing with the "halo" effect around traffic lights & oncoming headlights for the last year. Would that put me in the likely dangerous night vision side effect category?
From what I've read/heard, night driving seems to be something to avoid during the effect of these drops.
@@la196 so disappointing. 😒
My age is 16 can I use it I have spectacles please reply
I see all these great reviews. Vuity didn't work on my eyes at all. I wonder why - I'm bummed
I have been messing with pin hole glasses . When I wear them I can read tiny print . Any idea why that works ?
Great video thank you
I’m currently using them, they are a really good stopgap until the lens softening drops get approved… they don’t last long enough for me only lasting 6hrs. I’ve tried re dosing once they have worn off. They do have an effect but it is diminishing returns. Currently I use reading glasses until my eyes get tired and then apply drops, means I can do 12-15 hrs in front of a computer without having to guess what’s typed on the screen. Now, Vuity is a repackaged glaucoma drug so I wonder if off label prescription of the generic Glaucoma drops would work while being more cost effective than $80 a bottle. I can see these becoming OTC relatively soon…
How to get this eye drops? Please help me sir.
what is this implant you mentioned?
Excellent review!!!!! I want you to be my optomolgist. Where are you located.
Isn’t this medication for glaucoma? It’s been around for years. Just being relaunched for reading?
Pretty much.
I had Panoptix lens put in - and I can see good up close-- MOST of the time-- past 40 ft. out-- blurred.. can't read road signs at all... and it's been over 3 months... WOULD THESE HELP ME?? I'm also considering one of those ACTIVE FOCUS lens of RESTOR from acrosof.. or however it's called... IDEAS???? I WILL NOT go back to glasses-- I specified that to the doc. told him I'd rather see BETTER at distant and use them up close if I had to-- and the panoptix was SUPPOSE to fix BOTH.. and I am NOt looking for perfections-- just FUNCTION and I have none.
I would like to try some eyes drops
I need the drops where do I get them
Sir, I thought you implanted the other eye with the Panoptix and the other eye is Symfony? That is pinhole effect.
Very helpful, thanks 🙏
While your personal experience with Vuity is well described and matches that of the Vuity study participants, the clinical studies found that Vuity significantly improved short-range vision compared to the placebo after 30 days of use. Thus, farsighted vision will not improve after a single dose or one-day treatment. Is this not correct?
I do not believe that vuity works better after 30 days of use than it does within the 1st two days of use.
