I just purchased my almost new 2017 Kawasaki X300 Versys on Monday of this week. It had 1540 miles on the odometer and looks absolutely brand new! It was delivered to me by the original owner on Tuesday April 13, 2022 which is the first day that I rode my new motorcycle. The previous owner rode it to my state so that he could rest assured that I would register and title his motorcycle before he turned it over to me. First let me say that I am 68 years old. I am 5-10" tall, weigh 269 pounds and I have a 29/30" pants inseam. I looked all over for specifics on whether this motorcycle would be a good fit for me. I knew it was tall with the seat height at 30.9". But would I fit this motorcycle well. I already had a bad experience owning a 2002 BMW R1150GS that was a huge machine, a real monster. That BMW proved much too tall and heavy for me to safely handle so I sold it right away. I replaced that BMW with a 2001 R1200C Pheonix which proved much more manageable with it's seat height of a mere 29.9". But it is a 1200cc machine which means it is VERY heavy! So I bought a little Honda Grom which proved to be so much fun that I thought to myself, "wow, look at what I have been missing." Then I discovered a Blog online where a girl named Noraly is riding her 2022 Honda CRF300L from South America to Alaska. She calls her site "Itchy Boots" where she posts 3 videos per week on average. After watching her great adventures for a couple of months I decided that I must have a motorcycle just like hers. But then I discovered that the Honda CRF300L is nearly impossible to acquire right now unless you are willing to pay $2,000 over MSRP. Yikes. That is when I discovered the 310 BMW and the X300 Kawasaki Versys. I went with the Versys for several reasons. First, it was availability. Next was value and finally after watching many reviews on TH-cam I liked the twin cylinder water cooled engine making 40hp. So I bought one! I have ridden it 60 miles so far. This is what I can report. First, it IS TALL. We lowered the rear shocks to the lowest factory settings and now I can almost flat foot the motorcycle. It actually seems manageable although I almost dropped it going up the ramp into my shop today. Scared me a bit. The motorcycle is whisper quiet. I like this because my Honda Grom snarls like a mad dog with it's aftermarket Vance & Hines pipe. Really it is too loud. But the X300 has a very nice exhaust note. I do not plan to change this. Next, This motorcycle handles beautifully. The ride height seems tall but the bike is so friendly in every situation. I just love my new X300. Finally, this motorcycle is geared very low. Extremely low. But I guess Kawasaki wanted it this way. I go through the gears to find that I am in 5th at 37mph lol. I hit 6th at about 43 mph and that is the last gear. It seems like it should have a 7th & 8th gear lol. The bike redlines at 12,000 rpm. Whoa, that makes it a screaming machine. When you ride 65mph the engine turns 7,500 rpm. This is very alien to me and seems insane. But there is tons more throttle left after that, all the way to 12,000rpm. Amazing! This bike gets 51mpg so the high rpm must be efficient. I researched re-gearing the bike but you cannot alter it very much without disturbing the engine's code(s). For this reason I plan to leave mine all stock. Finally, the seat is very hard, most uncomfortable. I rode 40 miles today and my Fanny wanted off of this torture device. I guess I am spoiled by the Corbin Seat on my BMW R1200C. Finally, my biggest concern was, "will this motorcycle have enough power to haul my fat butt around lol". Yes it does! The low gearing is so powerful that this little Kawasaki doesn't even know that I am onboard. I get the impression that the X300 could carry a circus elephant if one was so inclined. I hope this little report will help others decide to buy a X300 Versys. I sure am happy with mine. So lite and easy to handle. That is where the fun is!!!
Birds dead at 75 mph on a versys - if you try a Sheepskin wool pad with padding it will help your bottom- wax the helmet keeps bugs from sticking. If you go 60 mph you get 65-70 mpg- 101 mph is the maximum speed ! And your pegs need lock tight- good luck keep checking oil level every fill up when you run that fast!
I did a 600+ mile trip on my Versys X300 in October, 2020. Probably 90% under 65mph and most of the westbound leg on the TransAmerica Trail (on Mitas E07 tires). I rode SW Colorado to Utah and back, one up. Great trip, good gas mileage. SEAT: I put about an inch foam under a MAD DOG brand ATV seat cover and it made a HUGE difference in seat comfort. Great bike for an entry level adventure bike and an excellent commuter. At 6'3" I needed better wind protection on the hwy. I made a DIY shield about 3 inches taller - much better. I prefer NO windshield to the head buffeting I get above 55 mph with the OEM shield. Zero issues on my 2018 after nearly 5,000 miles. - Ray, near Durango.
@@travisolson9190 Good luck on your trip! I'm still liking the Mitas E07, 2000+ miles and still very good. Depending on how much off pavement you plan, you might also consider Dunlop Trailmax Missions - they have been rated VERY well by Kyle Bradshaw on TH-cam. (I might try those on my Vstrom 650XT.) Always good to hear from other X300 owners.
Man that's awesome, you took this thing to the max. Beautiful scenery. I'm planning on this as my first real motorcycle, though I don't think I would ride it as fast as you!
Lots of useful information regarding the speed capabilities of the bike, its comfort, what's needed to make it practical at purchase and potential upgrades after ownership, Complimenting this are great views along the road and a great attitude along the whole ride. T
I drove my 2017 Kawasaki Versys X 300 from Toronto to Dawson (Yukon), Alaska, Banff, Yellowstone, Salt Lake City, Grand Canyon, Denver, Sweet Water Town, (Tennessee), then backed to Toronto in June to July 2018. There is no problem at all. The only parts changed were a rear tire and chain. The original chain is really not good enough. Total mileage is about 20,000 km. I love this bike, small, lighter, very stable when high speed of 150+ km/h.
Do you still ride around Toronto? I picked up a Versys a few months ago and am looking for more people to ride with - might do a trip to St. Johns NFL next summer
My solution to peg vibes: a sized-up boot with a real squishy gel insole under the insole that comes with the boot. Then thick socks that are cool/moisture wicking in summer and thick/fluffy wool in winter. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Great real world review! I'm looking seriously at this bike but have been holding off hoping they bump it to 400cc with the Ninja 400 motor. Amazing the sustained high speeds you're wringing out of that mini motor! Many are saying at those revs the motor won't last, so the plan you have to rack up high mileage at top speeds under the 5 year warranty is a good one and should draw some interest. I knew the seat sucks but not that the pegs vibrate that bad although you say that's only at top speed. This class of small adventure bike should gain in popularity. At least it would fit my needs for a combined highway, backroads, and trail bike.
Ride a Suzuki Gladius for a few hours. That’s a weapon of ass destruction. You might decide the 300x has a better seat than you thought. Seriously though, maybe look for an airhawk or gel seat pad first before spending the money for a seat upgrade. Great video too. Answered my curiosity about long range cruising speed fully loaded. All I need is to cruise at 70ish with some extra on tap for passing and mountains etc. Also, you might try 1 tooth higher on the front sprocket to lower high speed rpm’s and that might help your peg vibe issue. 👍
Hopefully you'll consider a power commander or something similar for a tune. Also an exhaust would add a bit of power up top. I'm interested in seeing how the bike handles your driving style long term.
I currently have a cruiser Suzuki LS650 but have been looking at an adventure bike where one doesn't need a ladder to throw there leg over the seat, my inseam is only 31 inches, I tried the KLR and the Versys 650 but thought they were top heavy and I wasn't comfortable with only the balls of my feet on the ground when I stop. I test drove the BMW 310 GS and didn't like it, but others who have compared the versys to the BMW say the Versys is much better. I was hesitant about the high rev engine and longevity, I'm at the age now where I think, "My next car could be my last one to buy," and I am having the same thoughts about a motorcycle, I only put 3-4000 miles annually on them. Thanks for the video, I'll have to try a back roads road trip one day.
Here the same. I may be looking into the last Bike I purchase. Looked into this 300cc bikes. My inseam is even less. If I would have the time to experiment I would looking into the Hyosung gv650 but I didn't hear anything good when it goes to spare parts. You should look into the Kawasaki Vulcan S. They fit the bike for you for free, has plenty of power for all kind of speed limits to get tickets and has a weight that I could throw around in 10 years from now. The best is the price line for the bike.
"Um, this might not be a good idea, i put thes eon with these, you're not supposed to do that, but i did that anyway..." - instant like :) but mostly thanks for somebody finally making long trip on these!
Good luck getting a new motor from Kawi. Friend of mine blew the engine on his KLR with a few thousand miles on it. Kawasaki determined it was a manufacturing defect, but wouldn't replace it, paid the dealer to fix it. Few years later the motor died again, no compression. Because the dealer installed the piston rings upside down. I do like the 300, hope it works well for you.
A lot of driving issues you are experiencing are as a result of trying to go a bit too fast on the bike. It likes 70 MPH and under and will give you great mileage.
Re. numb butt - If you feel like the basic seat shape is OK, add a Beadrider beaded seat cover. It makes all the difference and only costs ~$35. It lets some air move around down there, which puts off numb butt. Re. ears ringing - you need to get on board with ear plugs, or you're going to be deaf pretty soon. Wind blast, even inside a helmet, will do it to you. The cheap foam ones from your local pharmacy are fine. 11:40 Re. 36 mpg 90; OUCH. That's about what I get on my Versys 1000 at that speed. :-o However, having the side bags hanging off and the rucksack sticking up, I guess I'm not too terribly surprised. Do you think it would pull a 3 tooth smaller rear sprocket, to help keep the RPM down? Maybe not at 90, but 75, I bet you'd be up into the 50s mpg range. 12:22 re. 90 mph. Is that GPS-verified? (even Google Maps on your phone) If not, it's often 10% optimistic, so that 90 mph indicated = 81 mph actual.
Well said. I agree with speedometer being inaccurate, why do they do that!? Drives me crazy! I don't ride without earplugs anymore, lesson learned. I'm going to check out that seat cushion, maybe do a review on it🤔
Are you using earplugs? The ringing in your ears can be bad news. The noise not only makes you tired a lot faster, but also can damage hearing in the long term.
Vesys is a good bike, but you HAVE to travel light. My 300x starts getting some wierd, oscillatory vibes if I exceed weight limits, so I don't, anymore. Engine is great. It's not a dirt bike, nor can you make it one. But you can slam it through some semi-gnarly dirt situations just fine. I bought the factory side boxes, hand shells and center stand--No regrets at all.
Nice!! Been thinking about a “ adventure” type bike. I like little 1 lane country roads and my Kawasaki 1600 is like driving a dump truck down them lol. Great on the highway though!
Great video but I think you’re missing the point of touring on a small bike. You showed some great footage of the forest and mountains in the background but I have to feel that if you left more time, maybe a week for that distance, you could do a nice enjoyable speed of say 50 mph and actually enjoy the bike and the scenery. Imagine if you halved your daily distance and stuck your lady on the back, you would be fresh enough to put the tent up at the end of the day plus you wouldn’t suffer all that you did with your back and your backside as you could stop a little more. Please don’t take this as criticism, it’s totally not and I know you are onto something with a smaller machine. I ride a 1000cc Honda and when we tour our average speed is 50-60mph and it’s much nicer for all. In 2016 I toured Scotland from Southern England on a Honda Innova 125 scooter. My average speed must have been 30-40mph and I had the time of my life! Loved your video and subscribed for more! Best regards Scoots
I also took a trip with my versus x300 back in 2021, it was 1300km to the place I wanted to go and another trip back. And the bike does sometimes suck when passing cars, you gotta stay top speed all the time to pass better🤣🤣
I highly doubt you'll kill that little 300, despite the RPMS. Looking forward to see what happens though! There are folks with more than 100k mi on CBR250Rs on the original powerplant, so I wouldn't put it past Kawi just the same.
That warranty would be sick if you have a long trip planned. Unlimited mileage? I would love to see Kawi give you a new engine after 150k in 5 years :D
The X300 is a surprisingly great little bike. Yeah, the seat is awful, though. I love long rides, but can't push more than 2-3 hours before getting off and walking around for a while becomes a necessity. I'm usually good for an hour or two after that, but no more. If you find a comfortable seat, the rest of us will be grateful.
I have an '18 Versys 300 with the rock seat and my research has led me to Seat Concepts having the best replacement seat foam and cover as far as comfort goes. Haven't pulled the trigger yet but probably will soon unless something better comes along. I did buy an Air Hawk pad for it for a quick fix last summer...helped but still not where I want to be.
@@JohnnyNerdOut I was thinking of this today, went for a long mountain highway ride, the vibration could only be felt when i was consciously looking for it and jamming the soles of my feet into the pegs with pressure trying to see if i could feel it. It was on par with the same vibrations in the seat, so yes, I am thinking you need an adjustment or perhaps you wear ultra thin moto boots?
Very impressive lol. I went to look at a 1000 and all they had was a 300. It was so tiny lol. If you can cross country on that you could ride around the world on anything 😎. You got me beat for sure lol. I have a Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 and I'm worried about 400 miles in a day lol On a side note I finally got to check out the 1000. Really nice but damn expensive ! About the same as a new Harley road king .
Geez man... Maybe you wouldn't have so many issues if you weren't pushing the thing to 100 mph in areas that are likely 75-80. I know the engine is out of a 300 Ninja but that's not what you're riding. Slow down and enjoy, that's what tour riding is all about. I got my Versys 300 this year and I absolutely love it, with none of the soreness / numbness issues you've had. Of course, I'm on highways that are maxed at 90-100 Kph (55-62 mph)
Agree. Unfortunately this wasn't a leisurely trip so i had to boogy! Do you have the stock seat? I CANNOT ride for more than 50 miles without my rear end pain being all i can think about. I am 6' 175lbs so maybe my frame has something to do with it?
Hey brother thank you fof the review! Can i please get your opinion? Which would be more comfortable for highway use? 2017 suzuki dr 650 or 2017 kawasaki versys 300x Cheers.
Great question! Depends. Under 70MPH, the Versys. Over, get the DR650. Unless, you get earplugs to drown out the engine wine, are okay with not having instant passing power, and upgrade the stock seat. The 650cc motor would definitely handle highway speeds easier, which might be your biggest factor? But the twin cylinder 300cc is pretty damn smooth IMO vs a big Thumper cruising at 65-70MPH.
@@JohnnyNerdOut Hey , my use of the bike will be many short rides on gravel during work , on the weekend i wanna use it to travel a bit and drive far (around 300 km ) on highway , and i want to enjoy it as much as i can while maintaining the light off road capabilities both this bikes have. I'm from a hot country (israel) if it might effect your answear. Which would you suggest? Big big thanks for replying and helping!!
@@JohnnyNerdOut i bought a mesh cover but i can do 200 miles with no issue and have done over 700 in a day on the stock saddle however i bought the mesh for sweat but its nice having a bit more cushion.
Easily achievable, if u have the time to spare. Back in 2006 when my job, allowed, I was out riding like every other week & I clock 48,000km (~30,000 miles) in within 8 mths on my new FJR1300.
Yo i saw you have the top box and aide panniers by kawi, why the hell does it say they are NOT compatible with each other? Can you open the side panniers with the top box with ease? Whats the issue
As a motorcycle rider with over fourth-seven years experience I have one BIG recommendation for you, WEAR EARPLUGS, or you’ll be wearing hearing aids aids within the next twenty years or else. If your ears are ringing, you are getting damage. Your choice, but be smart.
I like the saddle bags are they any good? I read they are 17 liters capacity? I was thinking those and a big dry bag over the rear seat and saddle bags?
@@JohnnyNerdOut thx for the reply, the rattle I thought about was the one you reference to after bottoming out the fork in a pothole at 40mph. Have you found out why you ain't supposed to have a top container with the panniers? My dealer said that it had to do with the load limit on the subframe, but it isn't referenced in any of info I found from Kawasaki and it stopped me from buying one last year.
@@densamme1752 oh, that rattle stopped..thankfully. after 6k miles with all 3 cases on, I've had zero issues. Each case is rated at holding like 6lbs each so I can't imagine it putting stress on the subframe. I say go for it and load it up with storage.
Good, get something to make the seat better and you should be golden. It'll fit the bill. Check out my versus playlist for other vids on it and more info on different rides I've done with it.
Your very best cruising speed in stock form is approximately 75mph. Best speed for fuel economy and engine harmonics. It can do 85ish MPH for a few miles at a stretch, but I wouldn't maintain those speeds. It can get over 95mph for a pass, but that is max and she'll be screaming.
Really? Don't admit what you want to do regarding the warranty in public- you're asking for possible trouble later. Thanks for the video tho ~ safe travels.
Within the next 3 years I'ma do the Trans-America Trail on a CSC RX4. Don't listen to the naysayer's. Have all your ducks in a row, plan meticulously, and get at it.
My gosh, man, what do you expect from 300CC?! Its already punching way out of its league to be touring on the slab with a load. How can you criticize it for being buzzy at 80? Your camping equipment is way too big and heavy. Get higher tech and more minimal backpack camping gear. The accordian Z-pad is the best for motor cycle sleeping pad because it can be folded to make a base for other gear to ride on. Lose the trunk and make a tight roll of gear strapped to a rack and back of seat. Be a Spartan and leave half the stuff you are taking. Don't go heavy weight camping on an ultralight rig. Your motorcycle zen aesthetic is out of balance. Seek purification through St Columbanus and read some Kerouac. but Kudos for at least going down the path of enlightenment so far, thanks.
Unfortunately the point of the trip was to bring the bike and as much belongings I had to my new home 800 miles away. Couldn’t really leave things back.
Only 5000k’s, going well so far. Kymco are a well established company, they used to make parts for Honda bikes so I’m not worried about reliability. Plus it has a 3 year warranty. My only gripe is the frequent service intervals - every 3000k’s. Luckily the dealer is literally 3 streets away from where I live & the cost of a basic service is cheap. Do you still have the Versys?

Thanks brother!
It seems to me you are trying to get away from something... slow down and enjoy the little thing and stay away from the "blur" a little. Stay safe.
Wow the chem trial spraying was crazy that day! Great review. Thanks!
I took my ex250 ninja from Maine to alabamba no problem. It was actually a pretty nice touring bike. 900 miles is just a long day of riding.
That's pretty impressive 🙂
I drove my 2017 Kawasaki Versys X 300 from Toronto to Dawson (Yukon), Alaska, Banff, Yellowstone, Salt Lake City, Grand Canyon, Denver, Sweet Water Town, (Tennessee), then backed to Toronto in June to July 2018. There is no problem at all. The only parts changed were a rear tire and chain. The original chain is really not good enough. Total mileage is about 20,000 km. I love this bike, small, lighter, very stable when high speed of 150+ km/h.
That sounds epic!
Do you still ride around Toronto? I picked up a Versys a few months ago and am looking for more people to ride with - might do a trip to St. Johns NFL next summer
How did you do it on that stock seat?
When the video was starting I thought man that looks like Mt. Hood.
My solution to peg vibes: a sized-up boot with a real squishy gel insole under the insole that comes with the boot. Then thick socks that are cool/moisture wicking in summer and thick/fluffy wool in winter. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Those parallel twins last for ever keep up with the oil changes
My ex250 had 56k on it and was still running like a champ. All it ever needed was new fork seals and steering head bearings.
Own a '81 kz 440ltd. Fuckin champ!
I have a 1981 kz305 with 17,000 miles. Still revs like a champ and makes power, but it's burning oil bad. It needs a rebuild.
A 400cc would be perfect IMO
yeah and if the don't csc showed a bike that is a 400cc parallel twin that they may one day import.
That stock seat is brutal man. Just plain brutal. Great vid. Thanks
Ya, the worst.
I bought a new 2023 Versys 300 it is my favorite bike. I have 7 others I don't ride anymore...well I guess I still ride the spider sometimes.
Just wondered if it would stick 70 all-day touring. The bike would be ideal for me as old and need a lighter bike. Will wait for reviews. Stay safe.
it will do 70 all day. 90, no
Hopefully you'll consider a power commander or something similar for a tune.
Same here from the Bay Area, considering on purchasing my last moto like this one
300X is a very good all rounder. Tried the 500x but the VX300 is lighter and less expensive (buy a used one with all the farkles)
Would like a light bike but can you across continents?
@@missadventuresmotorcycledi2773 yup
"Um, this might not be a good idea, i put thes eon with these, you're not supposed to do that, but i did that anyway..." - instant like :) but mostly thanks for somebody finally making long trip on these!
I believe they want either panniers or top box not both due to weight.
@@albertnicholasjr9412 Which doesnt make sense since you can also carry a passenger
Ya, I'm always nervous about companies honoring their warrantees.....
Your comments put smiles on my face.
A lot of driving issues you are experiencing are as a result of trying to go a bit too fast on the bike. It likes 70 MPH and under and will give you great mileage.
that cart wheel - priceless!
Re. numb butt - If you feel like the basic seat shape is OK, add a Beadrider beaded seat cover.
I'm going to check out that seat cushion, maybe do a review on it🤔
Nice! Keep us posted on the versys x300. Got mine.
Are you using earplugs? The ringing in your ears can be bad news. The noise not only makes you tired a lot faster, but also can damage hearing in the long term.
No I dont, been meaning too, but I think I definitely will get some today!
@@JohnnyNerdOut Indeed. Save your ears!
Maybeso change sprockets if you are going for speed. Change headlight bulb.
But that will change consumption huh.
Totally agree. Have realistic expectations and it's an awesome bike.
Nice!! Been thinking about a “ adventure” type bike. I like little 1 lane country roads and my Kawasaki 1600 is like driving a dump truck down them lol. Great on the highway though!
Well, this is a super affordable way into the adventure bike segment!
True about mid speed power. Beginning from 5th gear and 55ish mph, it has a slow but increasing pull with the right amounts of throttle.
Best regards

Totally agree! I was in a time crunch or I would've "stopped and smelled the roses"
Thanks for your comment!
Great video man! Keep adventuring!!
cool trip thanks for posting the video, this is a really good overview of the bike.
I also took a trip with my versus x300 back in 2021, it was 1300km to the place I wanted to go and another trip back.
And the bike does sometimes suck when passing cars, you gotta stay top speed all the time to pass better🤣🤣
I'm doing a 1400 mile trek across the US. From Florida to Ny.
On a x300?
@@JohnnyNerdOut ya man.
@@schmidtlifeproductions603 keep me posted!
There is definitely a part of my brain that is hoping for that to happen. But i'm only averaging about 7k per year right now= 35k miles after 5 years
i see this was 4 years ago... but if you step the front sprocket up one more tooth you'll certainly get much better long distance riding..
Ya. Stock gearing was way low.
That birdie went bye bye A.K.A night night!! Cool video!! Trying to decide on a bike for my gf to ride with the Vstrom
I was attacked! Ya I think it's is perfect girlfriend bike (is that sexist?)
@@JohnnyNerdOut I do not think it is sexist. The V-strom is perfect for all lol
You need to wear foam earplugs before you get tinnitus, the wind noise is harsh!
Yep 👍
2018 I hit a black bird on my face ,east Texas back road ,app 65 - 70 mph. My neck is 3 in longer now
LOL, glad you made it out ok
I have a Russell Sport seat. All day comfy.
James Springate
Thanks for that info!
My Versys 300 footpegs sure as hell don't vibrate...
Even over 80-85mph? Maybe I just need an adjustment...
I get very slight vibs from the pegs at 70MPH, nothing that bothers me!
@@JohnnyNerdOut there is some vibration for long journeys on my ninja 300 - same powerplant, so I think that's expected
Very impressive lol. I went to look at a 1000 and all they had was a 300. It was so tiny lol. If you can cross country on that you could ride around the world on anything 😎. You got me beat for sure lol. I have a Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 and I'm worried about 400 miles in a day lol
On a side note I finally got to check out the 1000. Really nice but damn expensive ! About the same as a new Harley road king .
Ya they are pretty steep cost wise IMO. I wanted something under 6k so my options were limited.
Good review. I like this video series. What was that weird noise at 8:07? I think it was that bird you hit coming for revenge.
I have custom made ear plugs that defeat a lot of the noise.
Watch out for the crater in the road to Crater Lake.
Definitely hit it
2017 suzuki dr 650 or
2017 kawasaki versys 300x
Cheers.
@@JohnnyNerdOut Hey , my use of the bike will be many short rides on gravel during work , on the weekend i wanna use it to travel a bit and drive far (around 300 km ) on highway , and i want to enjoy it as much as i can while maintaining the light off road capabilities both this bikes have.

lift suspension height, how to do on the versys x 300? i am from Brazil...
I also don’t understand why you can’t have the top case with the panniers. Having a top case with a back rider would be heavier wouldn’t you think?
I have both side cases and top case and no problems. Doesnt make sense to me why they say not to do it.

Easily achievable, if u have the time to spare. Back in 2006 when my job, allowed, I was out riding like every other week & I clock 48,000km (~30,000 miles) in within 8 mths on my new FJR1300.

Yep
Nice place great ride 👌
Yo i saw you have the top box and aide panniers by kawi, why the hell does it say they are NOT compatible with each other? Can you open the side panniers with the top box with ease? Whats the issue
No issues at all. I have no idea why they said that. All the dealers told me no as well.
As a motorcycle rider with over fourth-seven years experience I have one BIG recommendation for you, WEAR EARPLUGS, or you’ll be wearing hearing aids aids within the next twenty years or else. If your ears are ringing, you are getting damage. Your choice, but be smart.
I couldn’t get it to edit. It should say forty-seven years experience. Autocorrect was wrong.
Absolutely, I did stop halfway through the ride and found noise canceling headphones. After this ride I bought a big box of Hearos ear plugs!
👍
what windshield is that?
I like the saddle bags are they any good? I read they are 17 liters capacity? I was thinking those and a big dry bag over the rear seat and saddle bags?
They're good, but a little small. It's nice that they are OEM and can use the same key as the ignition.
Thx for the video. How much weight do you have on the bike during this trip? And did the rattle go away?
Probably 60-70 lbs. The footpegs only rattle above 80mph. Which is about 10k RPM so I guess it's to be expected on such a little bike.

What average speed at highway without stressing the engine?
I ride interstate all the time on the VX300. It will hold 85 all day, though you'll lose some MPG.

I did a 1200km camping trip on my 300cc Kymco scooter no problem.
impressive. How well do those hold up longevity wise? How many miles do you have on it?
Only 5000k’s, going well so far. Kymco are a well established company, they used to make parts for Honda bikes so I’m not worried about reliability. Plus it has a 3 year warranty. My only gripe is the frequent service intervals - every 3000k’s. Luckily the dealer is literally 3 streets away from where I live & the cost of a basic service is cheap.
