I got into K-pop because of Twice. One of my fellow metalhead friends turns me into them. Aside from hardcore/metal music, Twice is all I’ve been listened to in my spare time 😂

This is informative information to those who are new to Twice. They have accomplished a lot in less than three years. This level of success for a girl group is actually unprecedented even better than what GG have accomplished first three years. But I do have to mention that Twice did not debut out the gate running as they almost left the melon top 100 chart almost immediately after debut and took several weeks to slowly climb up the charts and after several months able to crack the high single digit and never won even one music show. Few months after their debut, they also was hit with a major Tzuyu scandal one of the dark time in Twice history. So unlike BP who actually debut fast and won fast, Twice had to build fan base initially and worked very hard their debut months even promoting at local schools and parks. I remember their early climb to fame as if it was yesterday and now just three short years, they have come far!
Not to mention that scandal could have threaten an end to the group or at least the end of Tzuyu as a member. Kind of reminiscent of SNSD's anti Black Ocean scandal. Which is probably one reason why people feel the similarity of Twice to SNSD.
So true about the dark time in Twice's history with the Tzuyu scandal. I felt I should have added that in, but felt it wasn't Tzuyu's fault at all, so I didn't want to open that topic. I do feel it's incredibly important to at least mention it though. Really wish TH-cam had a feature where you can edit or add clips in a video.
Honestly their whole discography is amazing, the top songs are top for sure, but every song I've listened to on their album has a special uniqueness that makes me want to listen to it over and over.
I wanna add how every member gets to shine -Jihyo and Nayeon have lines and center, so they're good -Jeongyeon known as the 3rd best vocalist, her short hair (now long) that atracct attention, her own songs, being the 2nd tallest after Tzuyu, "YES or YES" center -Momo, the Dacing Machine, japanese. She was given the dance breaks of "Like ooh ahh" and "Likey" -Sana, she shines by herself without too many lines or center, people lool at her. She is a natural trendy maker, "shy shy shy" "cheese kimbap" or "ohyo ohyo ohyo" she is given the killing parts of the songs -Mina, the 3rd with Most lines, center, known as the English Speaker of the group. She is usually given the intro of the songs "One more time" "What is Love?" "DNTA" and "YES or YES" -Dahyun, she has the most center in TT, their most succesful song ever. She dyes her hair different colors (blonde, purple, blue) so she stands out. She is always smiling so that's important too, also her variety shows skills -Chaeyoung, known as multitalend yet underrated, it makes her stans even more loyal to her. Now JYP is giving her time to shine with FANCY and she has been in the front line of their choreos most of the time -Tzuyu. What can i say about her? She is extremely popular without help. She wasnt even supposed to be in Sixteen but was added due to a participant's leave. Even in the show she wasnt given enough screentime yet she atraccted a lot of people. She is the center and face of CFs and i'm waiting for the comeback when the spotlight is her. Anyways, she is also very funny and makes her popular on variety shows. The thing is, she doesnt try. She is honest and you can feel that. I love how every member shines in their own way and they all shine brighter when they're together. TWICE is another kind of group. Besides of working together, they're a family. That makes them unique♡
not only was I never a fan of any band (I love a lot of musicians but I only buy their music for their music), I was never into pop music and definitely not into kpop music before I stumbled upon TWICE's Cheer Up in 2016. at first I didn't like the song, but there was something mesmerizing about the members, how different from each other they are and how everyone had a clear role in the group (Momo's dance break, rap line, Tzuyu's visuals, Jihyo's vocal, Nayeon's charisma, Jeongyon's girl-crushing coolness, Sana's clumsy charm, Mina's quiet elegance) that made me come back to see them again and again. and even though I'm one of the Once who loves them as a whole package and not only because they're funny, cute and pretty, it's clear that one of the reasons for their success is how different from each other they are and how they're a team regardless. they get along so well it's easy to cheer for them. JYP marketed them well as both a unit and and individuals and that's very important when it comes to big groups.
Tzuyu is from where I was from. I read about her competing in the show on line so I came here to look for clips. That was the beginning of me getting into kpop. I still have a hard time telling faces of many past and current GG members. But TWICE took no time for me when the final 9 was announced by JYP. He really hit the jackpot by assembling these 9 girls. They are not high beauty but they are uniquely pretty. They are not top talent in show biz but they work incredibly well as a team to elevate anything they touch. Call it magic or god ordained but no matter how beautiful and talented a girl can be, without that magical quality, she may never find a foothold in show biz. All 9 girls in TWICE has that magic. Together it is a gale force that takes over Kpop (not to mention JYPE’s share price) into its current global level.

I've never been a huge fan of girlgroups but TWICE just changed everything. They were the first girl group I've ever stanned. It all started with a growing curiosity about JYP's new survival show, and since I was an ahgase before, I wanted to know what JYP was up to. I found Sixteen very interesting and started to watch it. Before I knew it, I became quite attached to these nine girls and started to follow them. I waited until JYP would release their debut teaser photos and waited until they would eventually release the mv. Up until now, no girl group can replace TWICE in by heart. I've made a bet with my friends before and they said that I have to follow a particular girl group for a month and NOT watch twice for a month. I admit, it was interesting, but it tortured me at the same time. After I had consumed that single month, I told my friends that I was sorry and I didn't really get into that group. So here I am a 4 year old once who loves, will love and always love TWICE. I mean seriously, who can't love them? They're humble, down to earth, they're quirky, fun, and their individual personalities just mesh with one another, complimenting all their different personalities. Not to mention, I was already a massive JYP trash because of 2pm, Wonder girls and MIss A.... diving into GOT7 and TWICE just made me love JYP even more and all the groups he'll be debuting in the near future. Stray Kids, I've followed ever since their pre-debut. Boy Story, and ITZY. But TWICE will always be my ult. :))))))

I had no idea who Twice is. I ran across one of the girls of Twice on youtube. She was really cute and funny so I watched more of them. I still don't know who they are until I heard their songs then I was hook. They have been my favorite group.

Twice is so huge that it’s even scary, if u look at it. twice had a mediocre debut - they even performed at a university classroom in front of ~50 students b/c they had nothing better to do. twice succeeded because: (1) awesome songs by black eyed pilseung (they composed loa, cheer up, tt, and likey - defining hits of twice/color pop), (2) they used vlive and similar media to directly provide regular content to fans (literally hundreds of vlives over the last 3 years), and (3) they are genuinely fun to watch, like a irl idol anime! i think their shaky debut is why the group is particularly diligent and attentive to fans (and why onces can be so defensive). jihyo said that their success is like a dream and she's afraid that it will disappear just like that. each member is a multi-millionaire now, so they have enough wads of cash to soak up any tears.
True that they had a mediocre debut. I should have added that in the video. They did ramp up shortly after though, as I felt they came out of nowhere fast. As for why Twice succeeded, strong points on why they did so. I liked #3, how they're like a IRL idol anime. I haven't had anyone say it like that before, but it does make a lot of sense. I do like Jihyo's mindset that the idol success can disappear at any time. That's why I always believed that idols should transition towards TV shows and acting in movies and dramas when they hit their mid to late 20s. Being an idol is really like sports, where it favors the young and athletes have a expiration date. Same thing with singers.
@@Popsori i think TWICE members have an incredibily mature mindset. They talk with us about serious issues, they show themselves without makeup on vlive, they share their thoughts with us (Tzuyu did it on twicetagram before FANCY) and i think that's one of their strongest points and what builds loyality. When people see you're honest with them, they stay.
I used to listen to Kpop randomly before and not much to Twice. But now, I'm a fan since I Can't Stop Me. My bad in sleeping on them after all these years. They're the best. They are so worth paying attention for. Love them so much now !!!!

It's what you mentioned in JYP 2.0, it's a system which took TWICE to this level. A month after their debut, TWICE did a Cheerleader cosplay on V App, the response was so good, that Cheerleader Stage Outfits were included after that and TWICE's Stage Outfits turned them into a Girl Next Door Group. It was probably at that point that the direction for their next comeback went toward Cheer Up, rather than keeping the same Concept as Like Ooh Ahh. V App is also a factor, as it helped BTS, Got7 and TWICE grow their fandoms outside of South Korea which confirms your reasoning why 2015 was such an important year because that's when it was launched.

Your channel rocks. I'm from the US and not in the age span of typical Twice fans, but I found them on YT during the height of the Covid pandemic. I found 9 Angels who make me happy like no other Kpop gg or any musical group period! I watch all of their vids, concerts and anything TTT. I'm not sure if I qualify as ONCE, but it's a family I can relate to from my ❤ and I truly love our Queens. I missed their 2019 TwiceLights World Tour, but I was there in my previous life. I used to be SONE, but I quitted the fandom after jessica left, as i dont trust their bond and personality anymore. Twice is the fandom that i followed now, not because they are similar to SNSD, it is indeed due to their sincerity, honesty, humble, in term of their personality. I love them indeed because of their strong bond & teamwork, personality,. charisma, sincerity. They always said they lack of , so they work so hard to achieve today's result. I admired them more than SNSD, and I believe they can achieve much more than SNSD (they already did with short period of time), and they can run and sustain for much longer than SNSD. I hope they can grow and hit much more phenomenal record in coming years

*Introduction :* I wrote a text in a website. I will copy that here :) ---------------- The video is very good but it deserved to be more longer. I was going to write "a bit" longer but it isn't right (my feeling is that there is more to develop even if I loved your video). I don't know exactly how some things are working, I'm not going to spend 2 days to write this text and make researchs but here what I think. In my country we don't speak english so excuse me for the faults. First there is a link between the MV and the lyrics for many songs and an hidden meaning but it's not much discussed. Maybe what it touches the unconscious is enough to have an impact ? It isn't always the case in the MV, probably half of the music videos (K & J) are simply good productions. Twice can offer just something beautiful (visual and sound), the members talk about their videos like something enjoyful even if there are some interesting things in there. Even if the sense of something isn't well understood, Twice has never adds something weird in their universe so the beauty (in the general term) is enough. A simple example with Like OOH-AHH. I've been triggered by people saying " _Kpop and zombie ? 2 things that people love. Let's put them together._ " There is a story in the MV about the relationship between twice and fans (not just in terms of lyrics but also thanks to the events). The lyrics have a double meaning since they are addressed to the fans but also to a probable love. The clip does not forget to represent female persons / fans. It's a little fuzzy, are Twice members really talk to their future love or just talk to the fans ? After all, the lyrics show that they don't want a fake love but a relationship with people who trully love them. There is more to say but what I feel is that the first MV was important to introduce the group to the people after Sixteen and Twice TV 1. Between that and Cheer up, we had a lot of contents to know the young women (for me, Sixteen was a survival where the girls learned to become women) In fact, I have the feeling that everything gathered together gives a consistency to the group but also to the individuality. A lot of MV of Twice have some meaning and gave interested to the video but like I said, I wonder if it's something unconscious that the fans feel or see partially. I watch a lot of MV but at a time without knowing enough Twice and I didn't see the MV a lot of times, the fan theories were useful. Likey is interesting but I didn't see these details about the perspective the first times (like in cheer up). It's something that you see in many MV of Kpop but I didn't watch what offers "the industry" 1 year ago. (Maybe I can't post the link but in _Likey_ , look at 44s the difference of the images between the reality and the camera of Jihyo. There are 2 state of minds if you read the lyrics) The hardcore fans of Twice know or see much more than the others but the sensibility isn't the same for everyone. I think that there are multiple things that make that you become a fan and stay in the group. Everyone see that Twice is - The most popular Girl group - They're good in what they do / talented - They're pretty - They're funny Ok but when you become a fan you know how hard it was, their friendship, the emotional moments and you watch a lot of private content or broadcasts (with special stages). Btw I have a lot to watch, I'm not done. It's also for that reason that they can keep this statut, they're one of the group who is the most present in the medias and they always had a good mentality. A good mentality... natural or it's a work on themselves ? I think both with the help of an happy career. I'd like to talk about how the group was built in general : There are 2 speechs of JYP that a lot of fans heard. In Sixteen episode 7 and the Twice TV 1 ep 5 we can see JYP explained how to be a good person, how to chose the leader, etc. The members know each others since years before Sixteen, there were some groups of friends and/or it was more easy to be friends when Twice begin. JYPE seems like an healthy company in the industry (I don't say it's the best), Twice is living the dream, The coworkers are great, they have been well formed. I don't know if it's only me but the idols are just impressive and help to keep a good mentality. It isn't just Twice, they all work so much and they don't complain. Just look at the ISAC, they train hard during 1 month or 2 and there is nothing important to win... some people were crying seriously ? If you mix everything together, it's just impressive and crazy. Well like JYP said : if they do like in the letters that they gave to him, they will be the best group. Of course, the other groups are great but twice is the most popular band and I tried to explain more or less the reasons in addition to this video.
Totally agree with you that this video could have been longer and perhaps more in-depth. I tried to keep it within 12 to 15 min long, but I think that the intellectual K-pop fans, as well as ONCEs, would have liked to see a more in-depth video. Also agree with Twice's first MV set the tone for the group after Sixteen. The video was that first introduction to the girls. I also liked it how Twice learned to become women because of their early experiences and struggles entering the K-pop world. If it's one thing I wished I expanded more, it would be adding a ONCE section. Like you said, there's a lot of reasons why hardcore ONCEs remain loyal to the group, like they're pretty, funny, etc. I did know that during the 6Mix and Sixteen days, there were certain members that were close to each other even before the formation of Twice. I feel I could have mentioned that as well in the beginning. I learned a lot more about Twice after your explantation. A solution could be to make a second part if necessary but there is a passage in your video where you show briefly the link between Twice and the fans. You made a good video anyway. I think the video really ties in with your video on 'The best way to tell if a Kpop group is popular today in Korea' from a year ago. I just read a headline recently on The Korea times that Oh!GG's "Lil' Touch" has topped various music charts and has about 19m views of its MV only 3-4 days after its debut. Those statistics might seem to indicate that Girls Generation is still the #1 girl group in Korea, but we all know that is far from the truth. It is representative of the established marketing and brand of Girls Generation, however. Ever since their hit "Gee", they cemented themselves as a household name and had been able to release virtually any type of song and would chart extremely well regardless of quality. As you have clearly pointed out though, the real popular groups are the groups that are buzzing among teenagers and 20-somethings and that is clearly Twice. A point that was not expanded upon in the video that I thought contributed greatly to Twice's success is JYP's careful marketing and management. A major highlight from his keynote address to investors about "JYP 2.0" from this past summer (th-cam.com/video/08257W8sdNs/w-d-xo.html) was his thought process behind consolidating management of his artists from multiple divisions based on function to 4 labels. In 2015, he revealed that his company's production quality and value had been hindered by the company's expansion. This lead to a cumbersome way of handling artists and being able to produce content. He was not able to keep up with production. To remedy the situation, he experimented with created a dedicated taskforce to directly handle one artist. Instead of having the artist interacts with many divisions of JYP Entertainment, the dedicated taskforce and artist would work closely together. He revealed that that artist was no other than Twice! I think the success of this taskforce is evident. Releasing 1 iconic hit song is something that most kpop groups would salivate over. Being able to release multiple, consecutive iconic hits definitely has roots that extend beyond the members of the group itself. I also concur greatly with Rob Star's point that JYP is highly philosophical and methodical. From catching JYP's thought process from tidbits through KPop Star it is clear that he has the qualities of a competent CEO that is able to transmit his vision down to his subordinates. Time and time again JYP has shown that he cares more about how his artists live and train over the end result which is an indicator that he is a person that he is in it for the long run. I think Twice's success is a culmination of him learning from his failures and Twice reaped the benefits. As you have alluded to in your video, I think the most concerning thing about Twice is how they are going to be able to maintain this type of promotion. I used to follow Girls Generation very closely and the one thing I learned from their BTS videos is that it takes a very long time for 9 girls to prep for the next comeback. Its likely that Twice's members have been unable to take an extended break due to their mounting success. When I think of KARA, which was certainly more popular in Japan than Korea, they too promoted non-stop in Japan. Goo Hara used to be one of the most active personalities participating not only in her group's activities but also in variety programs. After KARA disbanded, she revealed on the show "Ask Us Anything" that she was suffering from exhaustion and had to take a long break. One of JYP's points he made about JYP 2.0 was that he is concerned for the mental health of his artists and has arranged for timely evaluations by mental health experts, but it's easy to say that kind of stuff for PR. Mental health is rarely taken seriously until it is too late and it often left on the back burner. Anyhow, just some additional thoughts on your video. Great job Jason. I've read your text like I wrote yesterday. I think you're right about the statut of GG and his sub-unit, in reality it isn't really their debut and the people are supposed to know that (even if it's technically the case). I don't know what is the future of the band in popularity but I doubt they can recover their status also because Twice continue to be present everywhere and should continue their comebacks . If they don't mess around (or SM), the brand is strong and I even saw fandoms of others groups with the desire to support this comeback because they don't like Twice (some people don't want to recognize Twice as the NGG). The fandoms are weird, the groups have a lot more respect for each other. All the Twice members respect SNSD for their career and the groups of K-Pop respect Twice. That's ok, there is no problem. I don't have the feeling that all the groups want to be the first at all costs especially for them because they were already the best during some periods. But when you said _able to release virtually any type of song_ , I would say rather several type of Pop songs and concepts no ? Totally agree with the second paragraph. Well I don't know either, the community seems confident but there are some doubts about it. But the planning of the tasks seems on point. This makes me think that the show and the holidays are useful for the rest. It's as if they worked at their ease. I have the feeling that everything will be fine if the members stay serious and if there isn't any accident / unexpected event. I hope they have enough employees because creating at the chain is not good and also... BDZ was a try for the korean comeback ? Maybe. In the long term, it will be good to renew themselves without lose the identity but they can do it if JYP wants it. They tried a lot of concepts during the show and they're impressive. I'm not sure that it will be Ok... we'll see.

This is informative information to those who are new to Twice. They have accomplished a lot in less than three years. This level of success for a girl group is actually unprecedented even better than what GG have accomplished first three years. But I do have to mention that Twice did not debut out the gate running as they almost left the melon top 100 chart almost immediately after debut and took several weeks to slowly climb up the charts and after several months able to crack the high single digit and never won even one music show. Few months after their debut, they also was hit with a major Tzuyu scandal one of the dark time in Twice history. So unlike BP who actually debut fast and won fast, Twice had to build fan base initially and worked very hard their debut months even promoting at local schools and parks. I remember their early climb to fame as if it was yesterday and now just three short years, they have come far!

Not to mention that scandal could have threaten an end to the group or at least the end of Tzuyu as a member. Kind of reminiscent of SNSD's anti Black Ocean scandal. Which is probably one reason why people feel the similarity of Twice to SNSD.
So true about the dark time in Twice's history with the Tzuyu scandal. I felt I should have added that in, but felt it wasn't Tzuyu's fault at all, so I didn't want to open that topic. I do feel it's incredibly important to at least mention it though. Really wish TH-cam had a feature where you can edit or add clips in a video.

-Jeongyeon known as the 3rd best vocalist, her short hair (now long) that atracct attention, her own songs, being the 2nd tallest after Tzuyu, "YES or YES" center
-Momo, the Dacing Machine, japanese. She was given the dance breaks of "Like ooh ahh" and "Likey"
-Sana, she shines by herself without too many lines or center, people lool at her. She is a natural trendy maker, "shy shy shy" "cheese kimbap" or "ohyo ohyo ohyo" she is given the killing parts of the songs
-Mina, the 3rd with Most lines, center, known as the English Speaker of the group. She is usually given the intro of the songs "One more time" "What is Love?" "DNTA" and "YES or YES"
-Dahyun, she has the most center in TT, their most succesful song ever. She dyes her hair different colors (blonde, purple, blue) so she stands out. She is always smiling so that's important too, also her variety shows skills
-Chaeyoung, known as multitalend yet underrated, it makes her stans even more loyal to her. Now JYP is giving her time to shine with FANCY and she has been in the front line of their choreos most of the time
-Tzuyu. What can i say about her? She is extremely popular without help. She wasnt even supposed to be in Sixteen but was added due to a participant's leave. Even in the show she wasnt given enough screentime yet she atraccted a lot of people. She is the center and face of CFs and i'm waiting for the comeback when the spotlight is her. Anyways, she is also very funny and makes her popular on variety shows. The thing is, she doesnt try. She is honest and you can feel that.
I love how every member shines in their own way and they all shine brighter when they're together. TWICE is another kind of group. Besides of working together, they're a family. That makes them unique♡

not only was I never a fan of any band (I love a lot of musicians but I only buy their music for their music), I was never into pop music and definitely not into kpop music before I stumbled upon TWICE's Cheer Up in 2016. at first I didn't like the song, but there was something mesmerizing about the members, how different from each other they are and how everyone had a clear role in the group (Momo's dance break, rap line, Tzuyu's visuals, Jihyo's vocal, Nayeon's charisma, Jeongyon's girl-crushing coolness, Sana's clumsy charm, Mina's quiet elegance) that made me come back to see them again and again. and even though I'm one of the Once who loves them as a whole package and not only because they're funny, cute and pretty, it's clear that one of the reasons for their success is how different from each other they are and how they're a team regardless. they get along so well it's easy to cheer for them. JYP marketed them well as both a unit and and individuals and that's very important when it comes to big groups.
Tzuyu is from where I was from. I read about her competing in the show on line so I came here to look for clips. That was the beginning of me getting into kpop. I still have a hard time telling faces of many past and current GG members. But TWICE took no time for me when the final 9 was announced by JYP. He really hit the jackpot by assembling these 9 girls. They are not high beauty but they are uniquely pretty. They are not top talent in show biz but they work incredibly well as a team to elevate anything they touch. Call it magic or god ordained but no matter how beautiful and talented a girl can be, without that magical quality, she may never find a foothold in show biz. All 9 girls in TWICE has that magic. Together it is a gale force that takes over Kpop (not to mention JYPE’s share price) into its current global level.

I've never been a huge fan of girlgroups but TWICE just changed everything. They were the first girl group I've ever stanned. It all started with a growing curiosity about JYP's new survival show, and since I was an ahgase before, I wanted to know what JYP was up to. I found Sixteen very interesting and started to watch it. Before I knew it, I became quite attached to these nine girls and started to follow them. I waited until JYP would release their debut teaser photos and waited until they would eventually release the mv. Up until now, no girl group can replace TWICE in by heart. I've made a bet with my friends before and they said that I have to follow a particular girl group for a month and NOT watch twice for a month. I admit, it was interesting, but it tortured me at the same time. After I had consumed that single month, I told my friends that I was sorry and I didn't really get into that group. So here I am a 4 year old once who loves, will love and always love TWICE. I mean seriously, who can't love them? They're humble, down to earth, they're quirky, fun, and their individual personalities just mesh with one another, complimenting all their different personalities. Not to mention, I was already a massive JYP trash because of 2pm, Wonder girls and MIss A.... diving into GOT7 and TWICE just made me love JYP even more and all the groups he'll be debuting in the near future. Stray Kids, I've followed ever since their pre-debut. Boy Story, and ITZY. But TWICE will always be my ult. :))))))

twice had a mediocre debut - they even performed at a university classroom in front of ~50 students b/c they had nothing better to do.
twice succeeded because:
(1) awesome songs by black eyed pilseung (they composed loa, cheer up, tt, and likey - defining hits of twice/color pop),
(2) they used vlive and similar media to directly provide regular content to fans (literally hundreds of vlives over the last 3 years), and
(3) they are genuinely fun to watch, like a irl idol anime!
i think their shaky debut is why the group is particularly diligent and attentive to fans (and why onces can be so defensive).
jihyo said that their success is like a dream and she's afraid that it will disappear just like that.
each member is a multi-millionaire now, so they have enough wads of cash to soak up any tears.
True that they had a mediocre debut. I should have added that in the video. They did ramp up shortly after though, as I felt they came out of nowhere fast.
As for why Twice succeeded, strong points on why they did so. I liked #3, how they're like a IRL idol anime. I haven't had anyone say it like that before, but it does make a lot of sense.
I do like Jihyo's mindset that the idol success can disappear at any time. That's why I always believed that idols should transition towards TV shows and acting in movies and dramas when they hit their mid to late 20s. Being an idol is really like sports, where it favors the young and athletes have a expiration date. Same thing with singers.

They talk with us about serious issues, they show themselves without makeup on vlive, they share their thoughts with us (Tzuyu did it on twicetagram before FANCY) and i think that's one of their strongest points and what builds loyality. When people see you're honest with them, they stay.

It's what you mentioned in JYP 2.0, it's a system which took TWICE to this level. A month after their debut, TWICE did a Cheerleader cosplay on V App, the response was so good, that Cheerleader Stage Outfits were included after that and TWICE's Stage Outfits turned them into a Girl Next Door Group. It was probably at that point that the direction for their next comeback went toward Cheer Up, rather than keeping the same Concept as Like Ooh Ahh.
V App is also a factor, as it helped BTS, Got7 and TWICE grow their fandoms outside of South Korea which confirms your reasoning why 2015 was such an important year because that's when it was launched.

I found 9 Angels who make me happy like no other Kpop gg or any musical group period! I watch all of their vids, concerts and anything TTT. I used to be SONE, but I quitted the fandom after jessica left, as i dont trust their bond and personality anymore. Twice is the fandom that i followed now, not because they are similar to SNSD, it is indeed due to their sincerity, honesty, humble, in term of their personality. I love them indeed because of their strong bond & teamwork, personality,. charisma, sincerity. They always said they lack of , so they work so hard to achieve today's result. I admired them more than SNSD, and I believe they can achieve much more than SNSD (they already did with short period of time), and they can run and sustain for much longer than SNSD. The video is very good but it deserved to be more longer. I was going to write "a bit" longer but it isn't right (my feeling is that there is more to develop even if I loved your video).
I don't know exactly how some things are working, I'm not going to spend 2 days to write this text and make researchs but here what I think.
In my country we don't speak english so excuse me for the faults.
First there is a link between the MV and the lyrics for many songs and an hidden meaning but it's not much discussed. Maybe what it touches the unconscious is enough to have an impact ? It isn't always the case in the MV, probably half of the music videos (K & J) are simply good productions.
Twice can offer just something beautiful (visual and sound), the members talk about their videos like something enjoyful even if there are some interesting things in there. Even if the sense of something isn't well understood, Twice has never adds something weird in their universe so the beauty (in the general term) is enough.
A simple example with Like OOH-AHH. I've been triggered by people saying " _Kpop and zombie ? 2 things that people love. Let's put them together._ "
There is a story in the MV about the relationship between twice and fans (not just in terms of lyrics but also thanks to the events). The lyrics have a double meaning since they are addressed to the fans but also to a probable love. The clip does not forget to represent female persons / fans. It's a little fuzzy, are Twice members really talk to their future love or just talk to the fans ? After all, the lyrics show that they don't want a fake love but a relationship with people who trully love them.
There is more to say but what I feel is that the first MV was important to introduce the group to the people after Sixteen and Twice TV 1.
Between that and Cheer up, we had a lot of contents to know the young women (for me, Sixteen was a survival where the girls learned to become women)
In fact, I have the feeling that everything gathered together gives a consistency to the group but also to the individuality. A lot of MV of Twice have some meaning and gave interested to the video but like I said, I wonder if it's something unconscious that the fans feel or see partially.
I watch a lot of MV but at a time without knowing enough Twice and I didn't see the MV a lot of times, the fan theories were useful. Likey is interesting but I didn't see these details about the perspective the first times (like in cheer up). It's something that you see in many MV of Kpop but I didn't watch what offers "the industry" 1 year ago.
(Maybe I can't post the link but in _Likey_ , look at 44s the difference of the images between the reality and the camera of Jihyo. There are 2 state of minds if you read the lyrics)
The hardcore fans of Twice know or see much more than the others but the sensibility isn't the same for everyone. I think that there are multiple things that make that you become a fan and stay in the group. Everyone see that Twice is
- The most popular Girl group
- They're good in what they do / talented
- They're pretty
- They're funny
Ok but when you become a fan you know how hard it was, their friendship, the emotional moments and you watch a lot of private content or broadcasts (with special stages). Btw I have a lot to watch, I'm not done.
It's also for that reason that they can keep this statut, they're one of the group who is the most present in the medias and they always had a good mentality.
A good mentality... natural or it's a work on themselves ? I think both with the help of an happy career.
I'd like to talk about how the group was built in general :
There are 2 speechs of JYP that a lot of fans heard. In Sixteen episode 7 and the Twice TV 1 ep 5 we can see JYP explained how to be a good person, how to chose the leader, etc.
The members know each others since years before Sixteen, there were some groups of friends and/or it was more easy to be friends when Twice begin. JYPE seems like an healthy company in the industry (I don't say it's the best), Twice is living the dream, The coworkers are great, they have been well formed.
I don't know if it's only me but the idols are just impressive and help to keep a good mentality. It isn't just Twice, they all work so much and they don't complain. Just look at the ISAC, they train hard during 1 month or 2 and there is nothing important to win... some people were crying seriously ?
If you mix everything together, it's just impressive and crazy.
Well like JYP said : if they do like in the letters that they gave to him, they will be the best group. Of course, the other groups are great but twice is the most popular band and I tried to explain more or less the reasons in addition to this video.
Totally agree with you that this video could have been longer and perhaps more in-depth. I tried to keep it within 12 to 15 min long, but I think that the intellectual K-pop fans, as well as ONCEs, would have liked to see a more in-depth video.
Also agree with Twice's first MV set the tone for the group after Sixteen. The video was that first introduction to the girls. I also liked it how Twice learned to become women because of their early experiences and struggles entering the K-pop world.
If it's one thing I wished I expanded more, it would be adding a ONCE section. Like you said, there's a lot of reasons why hardcore ONCEs remain loyal to the group, like they're pretty, funny, etc.
I did know that during the 6Mix and Sixteen days, there were certain members that were close to each other even before the formation of Twice. I feel I could have mentioned that as well in the beginning.
I learned a lot more about Twice after your explantation. Thank you so much; I really appreciate your comment and know how to better improve my "The Rise Of..." series in the future.

Popsori , yeah it's complicated to explain everything and the video would be probably too long. A solution could be to make a second part if necessary but there is a passage in your video where you show briefly the link between Twice and the fans. You made a good video anyway.

... like I said, I think everybody knows that, Twice is impressive also regarding to the marketing aspect. We already say that but it's really impressive but Twice never failed to the task which make me think that everyone in JYPE should be happy that the employees did an excellent work and that they can invest in them with peace (it sounds cynical but I think it's a reality).
You talked about the lack of leaders on this market at this time and I agree with that too. A funny thing that we see is, jerome munoz talked a little about it, that in their debut we have some embarrassing moments but they let Twice grow with their audience. I'm born in the 80's and I'm not fan of the LOA era even if there are some good moments (even Twice TV2 isn't so good). Ah a lot of tracks (including the side tracks) have this feel of the 90's... some albums are really good. I don't like some songs but it's ok, there is already a real the discography, they even don't need to sing covers during a concert.

They cry so much, it's crazy. I don't watch K-Pop since a long time like I said but it's true if we say that the industry tried to show perfect idols no ? Maybe it's the influence of the J-Pop where the idols were more close to their audience ? They grow so well... they became really good and it's also for that reason that they are the Nation Girl's Group (I don't know if it will stay like that. It's just something everyone says). There was a poll recently and all the agencies told that Twice was the best Girl Group.
Like everyone agrees, they aren't here just thanks to their talent but we saw some impressive choreography and performance on live. I like others groups but I think they're in a good situation, it's not like they didn't have success because of Twice.

A great overview video on Twice's success! I think the video really ties in with your video on 'The best way to tell if a Kpop group is popular today in Korea' from a year ago. I just read a headline recently on The Korea times that Oh!GG's "Lil' Touch" has topped various music charts and has about 19m views of its MV only 3-4 days after its debut. Those statistics might seem to indicate that Girls Generation is still the #1 girl group in Korea, but we all know that is far from the truth. It is representative of the established marketing and brand of Girls Generation, however. Ever since their hit "Gee", they cemented themselves as a household name and had been able to release virtually any type of song and would chart extremely well regardless of quality. As you have clearly pointed out though, the real popular groups are the groups that are buzzing among teenagers and 20-somethings and that is clearly Twice.
A point that was not expanded upon in the video that I thought contributed greatly to Twice's success is JYP's careful marketing and management. A major highlight from his keynote address to investors about "JYP 2.0" from this past summer (th-cam.com/video/08257W8sdNs/w-d-xo.html) was his thought process behind consolidating management of his artists from multiple divisions based on function to 4 labels. In 2015, he revealed that his company's production quality and value had been hindered by the company's expansion. This lead to a cumbersome way of handling artists and being able to produce content. He was not able to keep up with production. To remedy the situation, he experimented with created a dedicated taskforce to directly handle one artist. Instead of having the artist interacts with many divisions of JYP Entertainment, the dedicated taskforce and artist would work closely together. He revealed that that artist was no other than Twice! I think the success of this taskforce is evident. Releasing 1 iconic hit song is something that most kpop groups would salivate over. Being able to release multiple, consecutive iconic hits definitely has roots that extend beyond the members of the group itself.
I also concur greatly with Rob Star's point that JYP is highly philosophical and methodical. From catching JYP's thought process from tidbits through KPop Star it is clear that he has the qualities of a competent CEO that is able to transmit his vision down to his subordinates. Time and time again JYP has shown that he cares more about how his artists live and train over the end result which is an indicator that he is a person that he is in it for the long run. I think Twice's success is a culmination of him learning from his failures and Twice reaped the benefits.
As you have alluded to in your video, I think the most concerning thing about Twice is how they are going to be able to maintain this type of promotion. I used to follow Girls Generation very closely and the one thing I learned from their BTS videos is that it takes a very long time for 9 girls to prep for the next comeback. Its likely that Twice's members have been unable to take an extended break due to their mounting success. When I think of KARA, which was certainly more popular in Japan than Korea, they too promoted non-stop in Japan. Goo Hara used to be one of the most active personalities participating not only in her group's activities but also in variety programs. After KARA disbanded, she revealed on the show "Ask Us Anything" that she was suffering from exhaustion and had to take a long break. One of JYP's points he made about JYP 2.0 was that he is concerned for the mental health of his artists and has arranged for timely evaluations by mental health experts, but it's easy to say that kind of stuff for PR. Mental health is rarely taken seriously until it is too late and it often left on the back burner.

I think you're right about the statut of GG and his sub-unit, in reality it isn't really their debut and the people are supposed to know that (even if it's technically the case). I don't know what is the future of the band in popularity but I doubt they can recover their status also because Twice continue to be present everywhere and should continue their comebacks .
If they don't mess around (or SM), the brand is strong and I even saw fandoms of others groups with the desire to support this comeback because they don't like Twice (some people don't want to recognize Twice as the NGG).
The fandoms are weird, the groups have a lot more respect for each other. All the Twice members respect SNSD for their career and the groups of K-Pop respect Twice.
That's ok, there is no problem. I don't have the feeling that all the groups want to be the first at all costs especially for them because they were already the best during some periods.

Well I don't know either, the community seems confident but there are some doubts about it. But the planning of the tasks seems on point. This makes me think that the show and the holidays are useful for the rest. It's as if they worked at their ease. I have the feeling that everything will be fine if the members stay serious and if there isn't any accident / unexpected event.
I hope they have enough employees because creating at the chain is not good and also... BDZ was a try for the korean comeback ? Maybe.
In the long term, it will be good to renew themselves without lose the identity but they can do it if JYP wants it. They tried a lot of concepts during the show and they're impressive.
