It was only a matter of time for CT to win! He's been on my radar for a while. Very consistent quality player who can shoot some numbers boy! Moving into world class territory quickly. His progression up the ranks is impressive. Former world #1 amateur who wins in his 4th tournament as a pro! Has managed to get into a US Open every two years since 2011 and an Open Championship! Damn! Then he gets a Web.com card via Qschool on the first try, then places 11th on the money list to secure his PGA Tour card. No stumbling blocks on paper. He'll win a major for sure now. Good on him!!!!
Yea Interesting dottie's comment about "well he spoke no english when he landed". You know, one might play that off as just normal banter, but I take it as, you are trying to minimize this guy's skill level, because he can't speak english or it's not his culture. I noticed they reference this sht a couple of times. Like him not being from here and having golf skills enough to win a match here, is somehow miraculous. What does this guy's nationality have anything to do with how he plays golf? Maybe I am making a big deal about it, but it just seems to have racist undertones.
I actually think they are underlying the fact that this young star had extra headwinds compare to others players that are not from another country and can speak the language and grew up eating American foods. If anything I think the undertones is that he’s a little tougher “mentally” than the rest of the field by overcoming all that and still perform the way C T did.
@@carefulsum what does that have to do with his golf game though. They always reference some of these minorities as being so when playing a high level sport ..like "he's not white...why is he winning"...but it's very subtle .it doesn't come out like that..you have to read between the lines...I am pretty sure everyone broadcasting would rather Dustin Johnson win or one of those guys. And if he doesn't..then they feel like it's not worthy
My take is that everyone loves an underdog story. A quick search showed that CT is among the shortest player to win on the PGA tour. Americans are very comfortable speaking English everywhere and it’s unnerving for them to imagine moving to another country where they cannot communicate with anyone. On both front, the immigration, the height disadvantage are both admirable and inspirational.
小潘,加油.台灣以你為榮.
C.T. Pan is from Taiwan. Well done !!
