Very inspiring! I have a plot of land I'm looking to build something similar on soon - been following your videos with anticipation. Keep up the great work!
it would be great if you showed how you're doing it. you just show that suddenly cross bracing appears, but no idea how you decided on how to cut it or how you fastened it.
Yes. We have thick steel brackets holding the main logs together. We also have been using foot long timber screws and foot long timber nails to tie everything together tightly!
Woodland Retreat appreciate the reply , thank you, have you found this method to be satisfactory?or would you change it?looking to do a carport and tiny house this way
matthew wood we believe that it is satisfactory for what we are building, however tendon and mortise timber framing methods are stronger. They are also far more complicated and take way more time and precision.
Awesome! Fellow BC resident in Nelson, wondering what kind of permitting process you went through for this? Did you go through the 'owner builder' process? What was that like? Looking forward to following the journey!
Good thing there is not a lot of earthquakes out that way cause that thing is just a house of sticks , those 2x8s you wedged under your rim joists , not great . And this is not timber framing boys, not in the least, pole construction maybe. admire the tenacity and spirit though.

Thanks! We are planning on staining the exterior logs and just sealing the interior logs with a clear sealer.

We are located in the Pacific Northwest
Did you use some kind of jig to make the half round cuts in posts?
No we actually just eyeballed the cuts for the most part haha a lot of test fitting and shaving
