    I’ll say it again: the prospect of being able to realistically retrofit existing trucks is a major thing. They’re ALL rolling on the same fifty or sixty major components, many from the same group of manufacturers across the brands. To be able to meet emissions standards without having to try and maintain these horrible systems would be great, and just think of all the deleted or non-functional (parked) trucks that have a fifteen to twenty year lifespan and are languishing at five or six years old with nothing more wrong than SCR and DPF systems that can’t complete even short trips without downtime. The governments will have to get on board, since their regulation has helped cause all of this in the first place.

    • @johne189
      @johne189 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If Edison could develop their own mid-ship (per Carl the truck) motor/generator that did all the things Edison likes, plus permit conventional mechanical drive... THAT would make a fantastic retrofit package and give Edison a competitive edge by their owning the drive design.

    I have a friend down here Texas that I had just turned on to you videos. He wanted to say that with it being a generator it is the perfect test bed for using hydrogen and using natural gas or propane as a main fuel because you still have range after fuel is accidently depleted due to inferstructre not being there to fill up.
    I don't know about all that but it seems to be another good way to get die hard environmentalists to look at the vehicles in a good light.
    I've converted a few pieces of equipment and a local driven teuck to mat gas. Fuel wise and cost wise for mpg or hrs per gallon were not great improvements if any were noted. But the maint dropped considerably. Oil change intervals, emissions....they have improved to a point that it is cost effective.

  • @franknedobity2757
    @franknedobity2757 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Slow or oil consuming ways to pre 1930 and we may be able to save this blue diamond. Edison Motors is an amazing idea and I’m 100% behind this. I worked in wind generation for years and have been driving truck for about 7 years. This is a well built machine. Less repairs, less parts replaced due to quality means less overall carbon footprint due to the emissions from replacement parts.

    Canadian politicians are so different than their US counterparts. One of my ex-managers brothers is an MP and it's so interesting to hear him interact so much more one-on-one with people and take interest in so much more diverse topics then our House and Congressional members tend to do. You almost never see them chasing sound bites or patronizing everyone they meet.

    Makes me happy to see the company doing so well. The big question is the future and will you sell out to big oil and let them control the future of the project. Hopefully you grow old and in control of the original concept and the adventures that you will all have. I unfortunately sold out a fantastic concept and idea to see it disappear…. Don’t have my regrets.

      Theres a couple spread around the US but politics isnt really a field you can succeed in unless you're on one the the two big teams and running the team plays. The ones like you describe arent given exposure for the work they are doing so it's hard to know even about them unless youre involved and in their area. Unfortunately I dont think thats gonna change without some without a major conflict. Plus the majority of the population is content with being on their pick of the two sides so theres not enough moment to change the situation in the first place.

    If Edison Motors continues to evolve the hybrid concept you might look into alternative fuel diesel engines. CNG is far "greener" then present diesel fuels and its known quantity. It requires a large line off the main and a compression station, many of which are installed in North America. Plus high pressure fuel tanks on your truck. Some municipalities have optioned for this approach for their bus fleets and garbage trucks.

    Your hood mascot, Topsy the heifer, I feel you should have done some thick lightning bolts for the legs with some 10mm down firing strobe LEDs running at 25% so that the highway bullies don't get upset at you then at shows crank then puppies up to 100% go time! Also keep the tusks as lightning bolts as well and put some 3 mm LEDs that fire strobes in there too. Just a thought I could render up a 3D file if you want one I also need 3D printing.

    • @soup2ru433
      @soup2ru433 ปีที่แล้ว

      After thought, you could also print this in pink tpu (rubber) and it would be more robust and the LEDs would still shine through and it would look normal then once fired up be a big reveal. Or just do the regular gray elephant with the frosted bolts for legs and tusks. Thanks for your time.

    Proud of you guys and have worked in the Canadian auto industry for over 25 years but you need to test test test. If one of these breaks or cant really do logging its game over. All I've seen it do is tow a tank around a parking lot for minutes, that isn't even close to enough. Test, break stuff, test, break stuff - and then make stuff break (toyota puts their automatic cars into reverse at highway speeds, then fixes it so nothing breaks when the customer does it). It has to be bullet proof, dont let the customers be the guinea pigs.
