    The atmosphere at old Trafford in those days was electric, full of noise and passion......such a different place these days, so quiet and subdued in comparison ......but we live in a different age now.......its just a money obsessed business , that's lost a lot of its real heart and soul, and the fans aren't valued as much as they used to be.

    They got the biggest average attendance figures in 1974/65 even playing in 2nd division, got manager having talk fans liked, lots of young players. Not winning much trophies (FA Cup in spring 77) but this Manchester United had real spirit, fierce fans with big heart behind them. It's so depressing to think about this current version of corporate brand, stupid "theatre of dreams". Hell not - it's a nightmare, so painfully boring.

      If they were bandwagon jumpers they would have supported Liverpool, They was winning everything back then. Utd was, is, and will forever be Britain`s best supported club, Get used to it.

    It was in the earlier Division One clash between the two teams at St Andrews (August 19 1975) that United's keeper Alex Stepney was carried off after dislocating his jaw shouting at his defence (prompting a question on 'They think it's all over' many years later. This happened early in the second half with the score at 0-0. Brian Greenhoff went in goal and I remember saying to my friend 'we'll be lucky to get a point now'. United went on to win 2-0 with both goals scored by Sammy McIlroy.

    How many teams, who havent won the European cup, have fielded 2 strikers who have scored European cup final goals for the winning side?

    • @d.c.harrison6656
      @d.c.harrison6656 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not the same - but in the '74 FA Cup final, Newcastle had Terry McDermott and Alan Kennedy in their team. Neither were strikers, but they both went on to score in European Cup finals for Liverpool. Frank Clark (later a EC winner with Forest) was also in the team.

    Archie Styles was a makeweight as part as the transfer that took Bob Latchford to Everton, we in turn got the majestic & influential Howard Kendall but sadly we also go this waster Archie Styles who was never part of Evertons plans anyway, once at Birmingham it became very clear why Everton threw him in as a makeweight, was he crap, I think he lasted one season then we shipped him out to some lower league team
