    Sounds like the orchestra from the movie, ‘Last of the Mohicans” when they were trying to get up the edge of the mountain to get away from “Magwa”. Love the soundtrack, but, love your painting better. Very nice, great Videos.

    First off I would like to say that the work you did on the tank and fenders was awesome.
    I want to do the exact same color on my 98. But I want to do it over a Black metallic. To get that deep dark dark red so dark that at night it looks black. I was wondering if you had ever sprayed this color over Black metallic ?

    • @troykane
      @troykane  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes over black will give you the dark look you are looking for. You can also thin the KBC down and apply less of the red color. This will give you more black.

      @@troykane I just finished painting a model car in a candy and basically the same thing happened to me, as well.. although, not with the edges, as I did those first but with the entire front bumper. I needed to paint it off the body, as other parts needed to be glued on after paint. Even though I did the same amount of coats, it came out a little bit lighter than the body. Guess my distance wasn't as close or I sprayed it lighter. I would love to paint full sized cars one day but man, the chance of errors stress me out at just the thought of it, haha.

    LOVED THE COLOR! Someone else did "similar "....zte/apple red over black.... everyone was saying, nice... but do it over SILVER. (He seems to do Everything over flat black!)
    My dream car is a 70 Chevelle.... and THIS is THE Color I'd want!!! Black interior w/stitching to match the paint.... black, sliver, white pin striping!

      Over black makes it darker. Like Black Cherry. You can spray it over White too. That will make it lighter. But the silver gives it a sparkle 😎

    If I was to spray 2 colors or do artwork requiring masking on the Orion Silver, should I spray a coat of SG 100 to protect the silver as not to pull any metallic from the Orion Silver?
    Or just mask directly over the silver, spray candy, then pull the tape off the Orion Silver?.

    Please can you tell me how the KBC01 factory pack single stage base coat compares to the silver base and brandywine concentrate over the top?

    • @troykane
      @troykane  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      KBC is a Kandy Base Coat. It is not a single stage. Single stage would be color only, no clear coat required. Single stage colors are usually require a hardener. KBC is a Base Coat that emulates a true Kandy. Kandy base coat is easy to spray and easy to repair. Kandy concentrate over the silver is a true Kandy. Kandy itself is translucent, you can see thru it. So when Kandy concetrate is applied over a silver metalic base, the base provides the metalic effect. You are looking thru the Kandy at the metalic base. The base color will change the effect and color. The amount of coats of concentrate applied also change the color. Therefore overlap areas are darker than areas not overlapped. This is where the difficulty comes in. It takes a lot of practice to get an even color with a true Kandy. Also if you have to repair an area it can be difficult to match the color. Hope this was helpful to you.

    Troy...Questions please. You might have said and if so, I totally missed it. 1. What size spray tip are you using here? I have a 1.7 but I can buy another one if needed. 2. What is the air pressure you are spraying with? 3. What is the cost of all the stuff you used in this video? I have a 2008 Goldwing that is the "black cherry" color and I want to repaint it. I am still pretty much a beginner on spraying, but I am learning and when I do spray, I am not racing thru it. Great video and I wrote everything down that you said on mixing. I need to go to your web site and look at all the other colors as I might just change the color of my Goldwing to something entirely different. Thank you again, Paul

    Can you apply house of color brandy wine paint on wood surfaces

    • @troykane

      Yes you can. Depending on the surface, a porous surface is going absorb a lot of material. A less porous surface would be preferred. Good Luck!

    What happens if you don't use the silver sealer or silver, and just basecoat/clearcoat directly over black epoxy primer?

  • @adamjohnson1502

    Love ya videos ! Thank you ! Have liked and subscribed… let me ask you, I’m spraying brandy wine and was wanting to do gold leaf and the bike will have gold/brass details throughout the bike… what would happen if I used a gold sealer and or gold instead of the Orion silver? Is it doable? What would the end color look like? And if it’s all good , could you refer a house of kolor gold or whatever tint you suggest? Thanks a lot man

    • @troykane
      @troykane  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I wouldn't recoment going over gold for what you are doing. Using Brandywine and Gold accents gives you an excellent contrast of colors. If you spray over gold, it's going to muddy the Brandywine and make it look less red

    Hi Troy,
    Love the video!
    I’m thinking of getting my Harley Tri Glide painted with this.
    I wanted some graphics done, and actually thinking of doing a “Marbleizing” done all over.
    Would I do a black sealer, then Orion Silver (with a slow reducer), then use plastic to get the marble texture… then cover 2-3 coats with the HOK KBC-01…. Then clear coat.
    What are your thoughts?
    I definitely want those metallics to help “pop” that color.
    Maybe a metallic added clear coat over the Brandywine first, Then full clear over all?
    Or will that Orion silver max be good enough?
    Your thoughts please?
    TIA.
    -Brett

    • @troykane
      @troykane  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your plan sounds good. I would go easy with adding metallic. You can always add a little sparkle to an additional clear coat application if you want more. But, you can't go back if you over do it.
      Good Luck

    Great presentation, I love it. Question! Between clear coats what’s the Pot life or do have to mix a new batch every time??

    • @troykane
      @troykane  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The pot life is in hours. So for a three coat application one batch is good. If you allow your clear to dry and sand it for a recoat, then of course you would need a new batch. Good Luck!

    • @jamescaneda9515
      @jamescaneda9515 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@troykane Thank you for responding quickly. When you say Recoat, is that what others are calling a Flow Coat? And is it a lighter and thinner coat. No one is explaining that method. I have not heard details of this process. I’ve always was in the understanding that sanding with 1500+ and buffing was the final step.

    • @troykane
      @troykane  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jamescaneda9515 Flow coating is a re-application of the clear coat. So sand the surface and re-clear the surface same as the first application. You can add additional reducer to the clear to get more "Flow". Thus "Flow Coating"

    What's a good psi while spraying this process

    • @troykane
      @troykane  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are using an HVLP gun I would spray at 25-30 PSI at the gauge on the gun inlet. Set it while you pull the trigger. This will give you 10-14 psi at the air cap. Good Luck

You can't find anyone that really knows how to do a black cherry paint anymore. Thanks for the video and any info you can give me. Do you have any tips or tricks for cleaning the guns? How to use minimal thinner to clean or possibly reuse the lacquer thinner for cleaning. Or is it something you just use once and purchase in bulk?

    • @troykane
      @troykane  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can't completely reuse the thinner. But you can conserve. Use a small amount to wash the gun first time. Use that batch to clean the mixing cup too. That batch is to be thrown away (properly). Then the next couple batches can be saved as it won't be too dirty. Use your own discretion. I usually keep some in a container with my paint sticks. Also use this gun cleaner. The Naked Gun amzn.to/3Rqre1h
      This stuff is great. Good luck.

      Make sure it's a scrape not a crack. A crack you need to use fiberglass from both sides. If is just a scrape, prime the area with Evercoat Featherfill. Allow to dry and block sanding should take care of it. good luck
