Arne Sorensen was maybe the best CEO I encountered in my career. He was an innovator, a n enabler and knew his business backwards and forwards. Cancer took him too young and deprived us of his brilliance. Marriott wouldn't have made the transition in buying Starwood and adding those brands without his vision and guidance. He left his mark that we still see today.
The thumbnail pic shows that woman with the exact same type of eyes as the villains in that super early episode of Star Trek where Kirk's middle name started with an R instead of a T and his best friend and the girl from the movie MASH got these type of eyes. Just frightening is all.
The brand integration has been a mixed bag. The level of service is steadily declining even in their premium brands as everything goes “Marriott”. Even at the Ritz and JW Marriott properties I have encountered incredibly horrible service and understaffed locations. They need to stop focusing on this corporate speak (just listen to this interview) and get back to focused, sincere customer service.
The aggressive devaluation of bonvoy points combined with lackluster “high end” offerings pushed me to primarily book at rosewood, four seasons, etc. They have higher standards and don’t generate any ill will with depreciating loyalty system. I only consider Marriott when it’s a rural setting and my only other option is a rundown motel.
2 years ago I would have said Marriott was the best. But recently I would say Hilton and IHG offer better value. Marriott is typically 20 percent more expensive.
her insights on Marriott's asset-light strategy are enlightening! This approach not only streamlines operations but also allows for adaptation to market changes, a good lesson for any business that aiming for a global expansion. 🌍
I admittedly may be missing something. But if they no longer owning the properties, that means they're renting them, and someone else is making a profit off of Marriott, which presumably eats into their margins. Sure, maybe they got a cash influx from selling those properties for more than they paid for them, and they're able to open more locations worldwide, but still seems like a poor long term strategy, unless they found a better way to boost margins that overcomes the profit loss of renting.
I don’t think they rent the properties. From my understanding, the properties that want to use “the brands” need to pay them fees, instead. I think the biz model is a win-win for both the property owners and Marriott.
Oh, more of a franchise model? But I think they owned the properties and sold them off. Either way, that’s an influx of cash now, but a loss of revenue later. So unless new revenue has better margins, it’s not necessarily a good future strategy. But I’m sure they’re working it so they do get better margins on franchising, I suppose.
@rokgod7 yeah but with asset lite they can focus on what they can do great eg the branding/customer experience. Building is a nightmare with huge risk. If management is focused if can be great for all. This model is very similar to NVR and I have some great articles if you want to know more. I don't own Marriott yet.
I have been following your recommendations for quite some time now and I can say with confidence that you are truly experts in the field of binary options. Big wins are an integral part of your channel.
Marriot was not the first hotel chain to embrace the franchise model. Pullman and FourSeasons did it before and honestly are better at it. Merriot is too big for its own good in my opinion
So I got 5 MORE MONTHS of this disgrace marriott. 150 days x 150.00 dollars a day.Thats $22,500 + the $22,500 I spent since Jan 2024. Where are my points????
New airline-refund rules won’t come in time for summer travel. Prepare accordingly: on.wsj.com/3ys5Ow1

She sounds like the traditional textbook exec with all her stuffy tired corporate jargon.

They bought Starwood. That's the answer.

Is this a re-upload?
Thanks for the great content 🎉❤
Ask her why no one is working at their hotels… sure profits are up but service is way down.
Great Brand.
Not really. Starwood was the brain child. 100% NO BLACKOUT.. The Bestest Loyalty Program in the world hands down

She is on point.
Is that Selena Gomez interviewing?!?
Is no one going to mention she's a day walker?

@@rokgod7 Yes, I think it’s something similar to franchising. However, it may differ a bit in detail.

The Marriott advocate is a great communicator who speaks very fluent and provide details about what is Marriott.
I have never heard a more corporate jargon soup than what this lady is spewing out
O_o
Maybe it’s just me, but she’s really clear and making perfect sense.

Why Does the U.S. Support and Fund Israel So Much? | WSJ
Why the DOJ doesn't sue Marriott for monopoly practices
So basically they want to be more like AirBnB.
I would be extremely disappointed at WSJ if they did this to me. Horrible lighting.
Have I been mispronouncing this hotel wrong all this time??
Why are blue eyes so beautiful?
It’s funny that the reporter is still employed by wsj. After being arrested for terrorism herself. Great to see the CFO. Glad she’s doing well.
It is all started with a Root beer shop. The owner undeterred.
She has those crazy eyes people talk about, sorry. Can never trust someone like her. 😅

U made the brand but not a good life for Marriott employees associate
Marriott is rubbish now. It ruined SPG. I miss SPG's excellence service quality.
Your franchise model is terrible....JW Marriott KL...a franchise of Marriott...🤦♂

Man, marriot is a freaking joke , where are my points? I'm missing 65 days x 150 bucks a day. What a joke.
That's over $10,000 dollars of my money and loyalty. Do they give a 💩 about loyalty and doing the right thing...think again

You need a lot of rooms when you have 10 wives.. plus the Mormon church private equity arm is a beast, needs to be.. 10 wives are expensive.
Save youself some time, its 11 minutes of corporate ramble with no new material.
