Weak era, medium era, strong era... Wouldn't matter. Peak Federer was perfected attacking tennis. That forehand was simply nuts. We saw this kind of tennis once in 2019 against Djokovic at the WTF Final, and Fed simply dismantled Novak. Imagine 4 years (2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007) of this insanity.
@bogdan Petrovic you're so full of spunk and righteousness. LOOved your response. But in all seriousness. Federer in his peak (05-09) lost to Novak 6 times with 12 wins. Everyone knows it. It actually got recorded in all of our timelines as historical fact that Federer lost to Novak during his peak. Once Fed crossed the 29 year old mark in 2010 and left his prime, he lost to Novak EVEN more. (WHAAAAAT!?!?) Isn't that insane? That a 30+ more inconsistent player would lose to one of the best of all times most of the time past his 30s? Mind blown. I'm actually even more surprised that Federer defeated Peak Novak 10 times since 2011. Only other player to do it was, you guessed it, RAFAEL NADAL.
2003-2009 insane stats for Federer. Not only his forehand was nuts but every shot including drop shots! 2006 was his best year and probably the greatest year for any male tennis player. 92-5 record 14 finals, 12 titles and of those titles they were successfully defended. Runner up to Nadal, once in Dubai and of course 3 losses in clay finals. check out www.ultimatetennisstatistics.com for reference.
Just passing through on my journey to watch every Federer match.
Fed in 2006 was an amazing clay court player. Such a footwork in those early years. He is everywhere!
Starace played some excellent tennis in this one.
Great find. Federer funhouse stuff

he almost defeat peak Nadal in five sets on clay... 2006 Federer is the best player ever. Only Nadal on clay is better
It wasn't the final it was the RR. And Federer was playing better in Miami that year.
It's crazy how he's still Top 3-5 in the world when he left his prime over a decade ago
2:20 Something you couldn't appreciate until you slow it down. Federer knew the shot he's gonna play but only switched to it at the last second.
Never saw that shot in highlight reels. Amazing rackethead control.
"bravo Poti/a/to,bravissimo Federer"😁pretty much sums it up
2:20 brillant
Roger Federer vs. Potato Starch, nice
Nice gem . What about Federer vs Zabaleta Miami 2005?
5:15 WUT.
Federer è lucidissimo è che i suoi avversari li lascia giocare ..se non avete capito questo è un po' grave da commentatori !!!!
