Info about the song:
"Radetzky March", Op. 228, is a march composed by Johann Strauss Sr. and dedicated to Field Marshal Joseph Radetzky von Radetz. First performed on 31 August 1848 in Vienna, it soon became popular among regimented marching soldiers. It has been noted that its tone is more celebratory than martial; Strauss was commissioned to write the piece to commemorate Radetzky's victory at the Battle of Custoza.

Probably the most famous march in honor of the Czech Marshal Count Radetzky of Radetz. It's a shame that the Czechs don't respect him. Honor the memory of the Central European warlord!

Count Josef Václav Radecký of Radče, Marshal of the Austrian Army, came from an ancient Bohemian noble family.
That chad Austrian general is called Joseph Radetzky and he is of Czech ancestry so basically song is about Slav.

My paternal grandfather was a sapper in the Austro-Hungarian army. After the war he soon found he lived in Poland because he had been on the losing side. (Most people where he lived were Ukrainians despite the new borders, and had been okay with being part of Austria-Hungary.)
I've always prefered the house of Habsburg over the Hohenzollern of Prussia. Probably because of the myth of the invincible Prussian/German army and prussian fanboys... And probably because i'm french xD

No, "kaiserreich" is a modern cringy word, while Kaisertum is the proper old word for empire and was adopted for the Austrian empire, it's the same as englis for "King-DOM"

Well, it was mostly the Hungarian revolutionaries that got beaten by Marschal von Radetzky. That is why Listz composed the Rakozy March in memory of one of the revolutionary leaders. The atrocities carried out in Hungary in 1848 in the name of a very young Frank Joseph took himself and Elisabeth (Sissi) nearly twenty years to repair.
