Promise and Theme of Laura are the best soundtracks ever.. Silent hill fans know how much emotions they garner. I think Lisa's theme is the only one that comes close
I’m playing it for the first time rn, I got into resident evil during the pandemic and now I’m going through silent hill. I was lucky enough to find a copy of silent hill 2 at my local retro store at the mall. Pure stroke of luck that they re-opened the same day I wen to go look around.
This is one of the better versions of the composition Yamaoka ever put together. I feel this song absolutely needs the melody line played on guitar to work; other versions that offload it on horn players just don't quite do it.

People are all like "OMFG what is this they ruined this song and i amma silent hill fan" While i am over here, thinking about how perfect this whole arrangement was even though the lead electric guitarist screwed up a few times. From a musician stand-point, i believe this achieves just about every goal a conductor and the orchestra could produce properly. The whole magic about Theme Of Laura was that it was a sad song played faster to become a more happier song for the -illusion- effect that Akira Yamaoka is known for when he makes the music and sounds for these games. The proper analogy for this song in general to me, is that you fall in love with your sadness. And eventually the emotional toll of sadness is something you just adapt to, and you do not even recognize it after a while. It is true that the only thing that is better then this and the Jazz variation they did with this song, is that it is not the Original cut from the game. But even then, i feel like this version would -and should- play better in the Credits of SH2. But only because it feels the same of when you enter a place where you remember everything that happened to you, and you go out of it feeling the same exact way but with a payoff that you are past it. Plus the Overdrive guitar in Theme of Laura gives me that sweet grungy 90's vibe that fits in place with the time and setting of the game that i love so very very much.

please don't. I'm asking you as a veteran SH2 fan. You can contribute in any other personal way, for instance I have a tattoo sleeve about Silent Hill. But movie - heck no. It is destined to be an amateur low-budget piece of crap. We just have to wait until someone with dedication AND funds does something like this, like with Warcraft movie. Until that time - just enjoy the game itself.

Thanks - I thought lots of people would disagree with me. It isn't a bad performance by any standards considering it is probably a piece of music that was probably only practiced enough to be recorded for the game though. I was just a little disappointed with the guitars in it as a player myself and as I really like Yamaoka's style.
