    Notable: vorenclex says “if you would put” and doubling season says “if an effect would put”. This difference means that vorenclex doesn’t care about the cost/effect difference. It will double the loyalty added to planeswalkers when you plus them.

    • @hiddenleaf414
      @hiddenleaf414 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Ahhhh thank you! As a newer player I was wondering why it was worded differently like that! The “you” vs “an effect” really confused me. I still thought it was an effect that gave the loyalty to a planeswalker when you plus them.

    • @RoastedPheasant
      @RoastedPheasant 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@hiddenleaf414 The reason it's different is because the planeswalker loyalty ability + and - are COSTS, rather than effects. That's why you can't ultimate a planeswalker immediately: you can't pay the cost! I know it's confusing to have "adding loyalty" as a cost, but thats the way it be.

    • @rowkingsbury945

      In brawl on arena, I managed to ult Basri Ket, but couldn't get rid of their commander, vorinclex. My commander enters the battlefield with 1 loyalty and can only +0 to make something indestructible for my turn. Then I go to combat and the emblem makes a soldier. It was rough.

    Kardur doesn't goad the creature on the battle field, it forces all opponents creatures to attack each combat if able until your next turn. the difference is that if an opponent casts a haste creature or turns a non creature into a creature before their combat phase but after Kardur's ability triggers it still has to attack. Goad affects creatures, Kardur's thing affects the game rules themselves.

    • @LogoMotive11

      @dapperparraper860 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That sounds good, but for a keyword that’s supposed to represent can’t be countered it comes off as a but narrow flavor wise since there are cards that instead of countering things return a target spell to your hand as you cast it, such as Narset’s reversal. To me inevitable would make more sense for something that basically has hexproof when being cast or literally cannot be stopped, but that’s just me. A way simpler solution maybe something along the lines of uncountarable or something like that even if it doesn’t sound as cool, pretty or epic as something like inevitable. However, I do think inevitable could be its own keyword with a few minor tweaks though.

    Few thoughts:
    1. Magda seems like a perfect inclusion to Depala, Pilot Exemplar. Depala is a dwarf that wants to be tapped, cares about dwarves, and uses vehicles (crewing based on power), which all synergizes with Magda (who can also tutor vehicles if you like). And Depala wants the mana Magda provides.
    2. Fynn looks like he opens up more comfortable use of infect creatures in Hapatra.

    I’ll update my comment at the end to see if you guys did a good job, but I really hope these cards are reviewed as possibilities for the 99 just as much as they are as commanders.
    Just because they ARE legendary doesn’t mean they should only be thought deeply about as commanders themselves.

    Orvar gonna be the kind of commander where he'll need to walk around with a sign saying his deck powerlevel because that dude has a wide variety of powerlevels you can pilot him at. Racing to infinite mana is a bit obvious but he seems like an absurdly fun "faf about" deck where you're just sitting there internally unlocking achievements for stuff like "how many archaeomancers in one game" or "whats the largest activation you can get on one myr battlesphere?"

    Orvar's my favorite and I agree that it's very powerful, but I still think that Koma is the most powerful because as soon as you play it, it's almost impossible to get rid of and the game is basically over or at least it subjected to a predictable ending. And green ramping to seven mana, pff, I sure there's a way to do it on turn 1 or 2.

    Varragoth is great for Alesha. She can bring him out and activate the boast. Tutor a card to the top. Next turn or on an extra combat, you cast a stitches suppliers type effect so the tutor card is in the graveyard available to be summoned. It's not top end, but it's still a tutor 🤷‍♂️

    I’ve played with sarulf as my commander a few times now and I’ve found a few things, 1) it’s harder to get counters on this than you’d think, 2) when you do get counters on him, the threat of the counter removal is a far more effective political tool than actually wiping is

      I didn't even think of that. Granted, the best mutate creatures seem to involve blue, so you can't use them in a Sarulf-headed deck.
      Also, Ashaya will protect all of your nontoken creatures.

    Hey, there is one deck firja would shine in, cleric tribal. Sense sure she is an angel but cleric too. The new white/black cleric card revives clerics from the graveyard so she will fuel your game plan.
    So very much a in the 99 for that specific deck.

    The infinite I run in my budget Orvar deck is Scholar of the Ages + Peregrine Drake with 2 target instants in hand/graveyard. This produces infinite tokens and infinite untaps. The way I win off of it is by having one of the those target spells be a cantrip, or have a draw etb creature on board and draw out my entire deck into Thassa's Oracle. I used to have Spark Double in my 99 as well (and other ways to produce the infinite draw + mana) but I removed them b/c my playgroup is much more casual and yet the deck still stomps. Being able to rampant growth for free or even just a single blue is absolutely busted.

    For vega you can just use murmuring mystic and talrand sky summoner so you can get 2/2 drake's and 1/1 flyers to go wide with. That's a pretty simple way to run azorius, and you can run azorius control for 10 of the cards in the deck for your interaction and it would be fairly efficient. Without fast Mana it's a bit more difficult though so making it fast will require quite the money sink.

    If I am not mistaken, Disrupt Decorum only goads creatures that are already on the battlefield. Kardur's effect should be a general effect that does not allow your opponents to attack you with their creatures as long there is another option, even if those creatures were just cast the following turn and have haste.

  • @Antare5

    I have a soft spot for Firja, judge of valor. I think the white weeny route is doable, given that you'll most likely spend your early turns vomiting tiny creatures onto the board until you can cast Firja, and then she helps you fill your card and card select to keep going, meanwhile using reanimator effects to get your creatures back. It seems like it could work
    It's also a color shifted Underrealm Lich in the command zone and that's a card I get a lot of use out of. I think this commander is worth a look.

    Toski tron is fun. Shadowspear, Embercleave, maybe some wings. An indestructible, flying lifelinker with trample doublestrike and vigillance. The spear comes out first. its cheap. They maybe think you have a fancy chumper to gain life. Give him a flying counter with vigilance, and hes an annoying utility chumper to take on flyers. Attack with toski, and three other creatures, cleave them out of nowhere. That is the art of the indistructible, flaming squirrel-blade.

    I think with Aegar and Niv Mizzet, each point of damage is individual on the stack, and so won’t be considered excess damage as the opponent’s creature won’t be around to see the excess (I hope that my thoughts came across correctly)
