      I’d recommend finding a 6x6 or 6x9 medium format film camera and use an adapter to use 35mm film with it. It’s a much cheaper way to get some panoramic-like shots

      @@ledheavy26 yeah i was about to say the same i got a horizon perfect for 250 which was in like new condition and apparently only used once but unfortunately out of 2 rolls i only got 4 pictures before the shutter stopped opening without me realising until i got the blank rolls back :(
      It's so unique and i absolutely love the few frames i got.. now i need to send it to get repaired by my local camera store they said it will cost around 500€ which is still cheaper than an actual widelux or buying another used one and risking it breaking too.

    There were a few swing-lens panoramic cameras that were made. The Horizon and Noblex do things much like the Widelux. Then, there's the Roundshot and the Lomo Spinner that do 360° photos. There was also the very old Kodak Panoram, but good luck finding film for this one.

      @fbocaj 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Some of the Kodak Panorams are easily adapted to 120, I have shot with one but despite producing huge negatives my images were often disappointingly soft. The Horizon 202 is a brilliant camera and often available new old stock.

    • @Socialmocracy
      @Socialmocracy 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@fbocaj I use a Panoram-Kodak No.1. When I received it I found the lens to not be in focus. I made a piece of transparency film with some scotch tape to use as a focusing screen. After adjusting the lenses focus I was getting sharper images from the camera. I have made a few posts with examples on both Reddit and Flickr.
      Let me know if you have any questions about getting yours working. It’s such a great camera once you do a little maintenance.

    I literally sourced a widelux F8 from france a week ago lol. I love Jeff Bridges photobooks so much i got both of his series. Its so great and inspirational. The "wide angle distorsion" is pretty interesting, and the ultra wide image is just something you can't get, even with a fisheye or xpan's 30mm lens.
    I read that these cameras suffer from banding, which is the panning motion becomes inconsistent causing different brightness in the image. which seems to be there in your photos? that might be why it need the massage?

      it's strange, but not as surprising when you think about how fast the lens would have to move back and fourth to get to a 500th or even a 1000th of a second lol

      insane, ngl i did not look up the price until after publishing this video. the 35mm ones are 900-$1300 though, the medium format ones are the really expensive ones.

    I’m waiting for people to realize this is far superior to the XPAN

    • @eatenbyopium
      @eatenbyopium 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s really not though lol. Xpan has interchangeable lenses, widelux does not, xpan does not Distort image. Widelux does. Xpan has 1/1000th shutter speed Widelux has up to 1/250th. How is it in ANY way superior? It’s not, you just felt like saying something.

      I can't speak on the XPAN because i've never used it but I think the swinging lens on the Widelux makes the images that much more beautiful. They feel like true panoramic photos lol

    screw this talk, about your time on set for Orion Sun, any cool techniques you've learned? cool lighting setups?
    nope just another camera youtube video - still cool camera

    • @linusandhiscamera
      @linusandhiscamera  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      My time on set with Orion was super special. 3 videos in two days all shot on 16mm, with practical very lighting, and I shot 13 rolls between my Mamiya RB67 and 35mm camera. The director and DP were familiar with my lighting based work and were happy to learn i'd be on set too as everything they were shooting and lighting was similar to the style of personal work I do already. The lighting setups were super basic and effective, things like one spotlight behind her head to creative a silhouette, two lights behind a tree + fog to creative an atmospheric scene with the tree turned completely into a shadow, and a single light through a window + a fog machine to light an old bathroom scene with perfectly golden light. I wouldn't say there were any cool techniques I leanred on those sets but it was really cool to see 3 videos shot on 16mm without having a video sync to previs the footage before getting the film back. A lot of trust for the director, dp/cinematographer, and film loader with something like that, and that was really cool to see in practice.
