Mvdp had no choice. They were in a bunch. If he swerved it could cause a crash. If he breaked it could cause a crash. The least dangerous option was to bunny hop. Safety first. There is nothing in the footage that would suggest something else.
Jumping onto sidewalks in some cases makes sense. With the number of dangerous crashes in the sport, the riders should be given room for maneuvers like this.
it is such a pleasure to watch your show, dan. there is so much going on... it's really hard to follow! (not to mention *other* sports as well). on the van der poel issue: it looked really cool jumping on the sidewalk for that move, it shouldn't be illegal. but if it is--which i just found out--then definitely he should get at least a fine or a few points deduction. the latvian federation is correct, in my view. it reminds me of the schumacher days in ferrari back in the early aughts. frankly, this sort of thing happens in life in general. from the most charming waiter never being sent home when it's slow to the popular artist always getting the front wall--and windows, if present--at the exhibition. we think sport should be an example but everything is run by humans. we do the same everywhere. it is what it is. thank you again for your work, dan! and, by the way, i've joined you in your health journey. more on that later. :)
GCN, we want one or a few Gcn episodes on Paris - Tours. When did ASO got it, and when did they turned it into an automne unpaved sectors race ? What are the crux and strategies of this race ? a legend or two ?
UCI should the remove the bunny hops from cycling for ever, just like the super tucks. C’mon Mvdp made what he could in that situation, if Toms Skujins would have been strong enough he would have won the sprint. Let us get real…
It shows how corrupt the morals in cycling are when you try to steal someone's medal because he jumped on a sidewalk without any advantage or anyone was hindered. Come on, you don't want to win a medaille like that.
Ummm, that was not a World Championship Grave course. It was more like urban bike path World Championships. UCI needs to try harder next time. The race needs to held in the USA on real gravel and at least 200 miles long. That World. Championship Gravel race was a joke.
I totally agree, Paris Tours was more of a gravel race than the [supposed] UCI Gravel Worlds. Seriously, the Gravel World Championships are a joke. Not taking anything away from Vos and Vander Poel, but to refer to that race as a gravel race, and especially the World Championships, is an embarrassment.
disqualification seems excessive, no? respecfully, i would say a strike system would be more appropriate. do it three times and *then* you're out... or something of that sort.
What did you think of this week's racing? 🤔 What do you make of Marianne Vos & Mathieu Van der Poel's performances at the Gravel World Champs? 🚴♂💨
UCI could hold it on any UK country road and call it gravel 😊
😂
Nice to know Vos would have won the WC RR if Vollering hadnt shafted her.
That wasn't a gravel race that was a bike path race.
Very nice show. Also, I have to say that the lighting and color grading are the best I've seen here in a long time. Very natural. Well done.

Vos is pushing 38 and still dominating, hard to believe. Almost like she's superhuman some how.
Thanks Dan and crew , great races ! Be well.

Dechatlon must really believe in Johannes Staune-Mittet though.
They actually did pay Visma Leasa-a-Bike to get him.
That is quite rare.
MVDP DID get away with it when other don't... but we should probably do away with some of these more "silly" rules in the first place.
¡Gracias!
Steve Cummings will be happy if Pidcock goes!
What’s the deal there? I don’t know the backstory.
I kinda got the feeling that Stuyven reaaalllllyyyy wanted to win that race.
It would be so cool if someday the UCI Gravel World Championship was...A GRAVEL RACE (thanks, I feel better).
GCN, we want one or a few Gcn episodes on Paris - Tours.

Holland is the country of "cycle paths" - so no wonder the take both titles
Paris-Tour was so much more gravely than Gravel World Champs that Eurosport decided to air it instead of GWC
anything that Marty McD commentates gets fast forwarded to the final 2 km.
The Coppa Agos stoney!😅
Selfie Lappartient is the curse of cycling, say no less.
Funny how wet the non gravel race and dirty everyones was and the gravel race nice and dry.
What’s with the camera angle and lighting?

A lot of other riders jumping curbs in the Worlds. Why single out MvDP? Cheap way to get a medal.
A number of other riders did get DQd for doing what VDP did. Why should he get away with it?
@@David-dw4iu Which riders were DQD? I've seen the DNFs.
do u think voss would have still won without the auto inflate gadget ?
Too good to be true . Armstrong 2.0
To be honest… it is getting boring
As they said then...and maybe now again...if it looks too good to be true...that's because it is...LOL...not.

One law for thee, another law for me 🤔

now you're talking.!
dq van der poel
UCI CULTURAL APPOPRIATION. these were not gravel races, most of these riders couldn't even complete a real gravel race!
I totally agree, Paris Tours was more of a gravel race than the [supposed] UCI Gravel Worlds. Seriously, the Gravel World Championships are a joke. Sadly, they need to punish Van der Poel for the road race and disqualify him. It is the proper thing to do.
why?
