  • Isaiah Ch. 15
Moab, originating from Lot’s incestuous relationship with his daughter, had a complicated history with Israel. Isaiah prophesied destruction upon Moab, paralleling Jeremiah's prophecy a century later. The downfall was attributed to Moab's arrogance and hostility towards Israel. Despite their destruction, Jeremiah foresaw Moab's eventual restoration.

This is such a useful lesson to be learned today as we see all the bloodshed in the Middle East. Develop a heart for even the people in Gaza & Lebanon who are suffering greatly even though they attacked Israel first. Love your enemy. Yes, even the everyday enemies in my personal life. Can my heart even comprehend this? Yes, only when Yeshua fills my heart. A valuable lesson from the OT even for a gentile believer.

Very nicely explained, Isaiah is wonderful! Neverthess, it is a pity no one is interested in really teaching about the PRIORITY, the Precepts of Love that GOD gaves us so we would KNOW how to conduct our persons. It is quite sad that there is this ongoing ASSUMPTION that because we can read+writte+have an IQ of100+, that we ACTUALLY KNOW the Commandements and can apply them to reality (the pharisees KNEW the Commandments but FAILED to apply them to their reality and prevented others from knowing them and how to do). In 21st century the attention span of the vast majority is sooo small that they might not even know more than 2 maybe 3 of the MOST IMPORTANT part of the OT and NT, the Commandments, the Words of Truth by Jesus CHRIST of Nazareth.
In real reality, we all KNOW/ARE AWARE that historical events have no value in this life, merely because they are GONE. All rulers + theirs kingdoms/empires are all DEAD, GONE (= NO LIFE).
It would be so wonderful if the Words of Truth from Jesus of Nazareth can KEEP being EMPHASISED (like the apostles did, repeat, repeat, practice helps the heart+mind to learn) instead of the mere historical bits of info in OT, that hold no life in them because such events are all gone, all finito and will save no soul (ONLY CHRIST's Loving Living Words of Truth SHALL SAVE).

God does not delight in the destruction of His enemies, but He devises ways that the despised person may not remain estranged from him.
"It is God's will that all men come to the knowledge of truth and be saved"...I pray this every day.

Amen. Jesus teaches us to love our enemies, to bless those who curse us, do good to those who hate us, and pray for those who wants to kill us.

Mathew 6:14-15 , you must forgive to be forgiven (paraphrased) I feel like most Christians forget about this one. That and Jesus saying "they will know you are my followers by the love you show".

The thing is we just have to know how much we are forgiven.. At the start of my following the Lord I only knew of my obvious sins... It's not until I desperately started to want to obey Him did I discover just how utterly wretched I am.. That rebellion & treason towards God was so deep rooted in me.. And then I cried to the Lord to save me from myself, utterly hating myself
This opened my eyes to just how precious Jesus Christ is, and how amazing God's mercy & grace is towards us!!
When one fixes their eyes on Jesus and ponders on God's love to us... It is difficult not to forgive..
      James 2 :13
For judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
      1 John 4:19
We love because He first loved us.

Why is it surprising that David turned to the Moabites for protection for his parents? It doesn’t seem odd to me since his grandmother was Ruth, the Moabitess.

You're a very good chemist and you should stick to that
Real history in the Bible begins with Judges, nothing before that has any historical basis. The Torah is the story of man's quest for a relationship with God, not a science or history textbook. End of story.
