- Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman recalled 1989 incident to target Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) governemt in Lok Sabha on August 10. Slamming DMK, she said, “I agree that women suffering anywhere - Manipur, Delhi, Rajasthan - will have to be taken seriously. No politics played. But I want to remind this entire House of one incident which happened on 25th March 1989 in Tamil Nadu Assembly. Then she hadn't become CM Jayalalithaa's saree was pulled in Tamil Nadu in the Assembly. She was the LoP. The DMK members who were seated there, heckled her and laughed at her. Has DMK forgotten Jayalalithaa? You pulled her saree, you demeaned her. That day Jayalalithaa took an oath that she will never come to the House unless she becomes the CM. Two years later, she returned as the CM of Tamil.

Just because we learn Hindi, we are and no true tamilian will ever disrespect Tamil, or will their standard be lowered. This is all controlling techniques done by your party. Former Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Selvi Ms Jayalalithaa was fluent in Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, English and very good in Hindi.
Now people in Tamilnadu have to depend on Politically run Tamil television and media channels to translate north or Hindi news. The translation is not done correctly also, it is done wrongly or changed in context to the political party advantage. So Tamil people who do not know Hindi get misinformation or wrong information.
Let Tamilnadu young generation and people learn to understand and speak Hindi so that they can understand the Hindi news or what is going on outside of Tamilnadu on their own. They have that right.
Marathi speaking Maharashtrians, Telugu speaking Andra Pradesh people, Bengali speaking West Bengal people, Bihari speaking Bihari people, understand and speak Hindi. So why not Tamil speaking tamilian people understand and speak Hindi. It is a great advantage to navigate through Bharath India and the world.
We go to UAE, Germany, France etc, foreign countries for professional and personal reasons, don't we learn the language?.
So we should understand and speak Hindi too. It is empowerment . Tamilnadu people stop being influenced, controlled and supressed by Political parties. These politicians children family know Hindi and live in luxury always.
