- The application process for stamp 4 has changed since November 2023.
Effective November 30, 2023, applicants for Stamp 4 immigration permission are no longer required to obtain a letter of support from the Department of Enterprise, Trade, and Employment (DETE). Stamp 4 applications and checks will be handled entirely by the Department of Justice.

Appointment wait times vary depending on immigration office
Card processing time : 2 weeks
When should you apply? Applications for renewal of permission can be submitted up to 12 weeks prior to the expiration of a current IRP card. However, only applications that meet the 21-month eligibility requirement will be processed.
If you are in Dublin, you can upload the documents online.
If you are in other counties, you need to make an appointment with the local immigration office by emailing them.
What is a Stamp 4 visa?
Stamp 4 indicates permission to stay in Ireland for a specified period, subject to conditions. Stamp 4 is reckoned as residence when applying for citizenship by naturalization. You can take up employment and are not required to hold an employment permit.

Sorry I have 2 questions; my IRP card stamp 1 expires in May yet I do not turn the 21 months until April.
But as you know I have to ask for the appointment here way in advance, at least during March so I get an appointment in May. could I also ask in the email for renewal and then the day I show up if i bring all the papers ask for a stamp change 4?
Or 2, if i renew my IRP card with stamp 1, must I wait until it expires again to ask for a stamp change? Or I could ask for another appointment in a couple of months just to change stamps?

Email them in advance, 3 months before your expiration date. You can opt for renewal and bring documents for stamp change on your appointment, which is what I did.

I really appreciate your video and how easily you explain how to apply for STAMP 4. I just have one question here. My wife has a stamp 1g (Dependent/Spouse), and I would like to understand what is the process for her? What visa she will be entitled?

I believe your wife need to stay on 1G for 4 years and then she can get her stamp 4, can follow same steps.
If all the documents are sent to Dublin for processing, it would be easier to provide online services for people who reside outside of Dublin 🤦♀🤭

Thank you for making the content. Does it mean as per current process in cork, we just need to bring those documents to cork immigration office and they will grant us stamp 4 IRP? The difficulty is just how do we ensure the appointment date is right after we completed 21 months 😅
You need an appointment in the immigration office and in cork, wait time is about 3-4 months so email them accordingly.

Some people said its based on the irp registration date and not on CSEP
Yes. Critical skills work permit. For general permit, it will take more than 2 years to obtain stamp 4.
Hi, One of my friend is working for a company more than 26 months on stamp 1 ( critical skills visa) but his employer is not ready to give a letter for stamp 4. the employer knew if he give a letter my friend won’t stay in that company after getting stamp 4
So could you tell me what he can do in this situation
He just needs a letter that says he is working there. The company doesn’t have to comment on the requirement.

In the documents required, the 5th point says "A letter from the employer/s, dated within the last 3 months, confirming the job title, location of employment, and dates of employment.".

No, they specifically ask for a reference letter from employer. Also it depends on who is attending you. Some of them might accept your offer letter but it’s better to be prepared right?

Does this reference letter from employer mean the last 21 months employment or future employment? One of my friend has exactly 21 months contract (hosting agreement). And hasn't got a new contract. Do they ask for new job contract or proof from employer?

Happy to hear the video helped. If you already have a stamp4 letter, you should be getting a stamp4 permission on your card. This means you can work or engage in business. You can email your immigration office and confirm if there was any mistake.

They didn’t ask for insurance details so I believe, there’s no need.

Immigration office where you get your IRP. Each county has different requirements. You will find your counties email in their website. Send them a query explaining the issue.
