Life of Gaddi Shepherds in Uttarakhand | उत्तराखंड के जंगलों में भेड़-पालकों का जीवन| The Young Monk

There are many shepherd communities in the Indian Himalayas. In Kashmir these shepherds are called Bakarwals, in Himachal and Uttarakhand Gaddi shepherds. These shepherds roam around the mountains with their flocks in search of grassland and meadows. They spend half the year in the mountains and the winter season in the forests of plains.

I travelled with Gaddi shepherd's in 1982. They are wonderful and amazing people. I have stayed in their chappars at several places for night camping
