Sheeesh I love that description for the flashing and tarnishing color. I just did my top end and I had the same exact coloration all over my piston and cylinder but the parts looked perfect and no wear on anything. I've been running maxima semi synthetic at 40:1 and it looked identical at 130 as well. Great video and thank you for giving me the peace of mind that my 250x is running as should even when getting very hot!
EDIT - What billet clutch basket did you end up going with?

the color is caused by the blowdown from the rings, if you see this it means that the ring have worn out pretty quicky, next time to avoid it don't do the mix oil/gas precisely at like 2%, do it a bit more, like 2.5% or even 3% if you know that the bike is pushed to the limit

I'm in need of advice. I have a stock 02 YZ125 that is more than enough power for me, except for in certain instances. I'd love more torque, and I am considering a 250F. However, I'm wondering if a YZ250X with a fly wheel weight and apex XC head, be tamed down enough and be easy to ride like a 4 stroke or would I be better off with a 250F? I'm old and out of shape, and don't get to ride to often..so when I do I wanna enjoy it! Thanks!

Use STRAIGHT PINE SOL NO WATER in the cleaner (the instructions will tell you u not too....it's fine...it's been done plenty). Throw your carb in there minus gaskets and It'll come out looking and working like new, and it's so easy a kid could do it. You can rinse with water after if you want but most just hang carb n let drip dry. Reinstall float n gaskets n hoses and your good to go. Cheap simple and you'll have the cleaner for life. @@TheAyoubh from stock? Yes. Also from the XC. You get more torque on bottom with higher compression, but less over Rev. That’s why the SX isn’t always great. Extremely snappy down low but kills a lot of top end. MX I’ve found to be the best compromise. XC is still great, it just doesn’t give me the lug ability that I want. More compression means more force on the crank which is more torque.
