    The winding machinery could be from the Royal Engineers, setting explosive charges? Apparently they blew up the buildings rather than pulling them down. With the exception of the church which was taken apart piece by piece

    I do hope visitors don't decide to take souvenirs from the village. Leave as is, in respect for those who lost their homes and village.

      Yes, there has been in the past that some people have taken thing and I find this disgusting, why can't they just leave things as they are and enjoy the past history. thanks Heath Eynon.
