I agree with you fully! The vilambit is so gradually speeded up that you hardly realise the increase in the tempo and the drut that follows is a treat for connoisseurs! BJ was a true gift of Bhagwan in us!
He has done better than this. Took him 18 mins to render this when the masters like Gauhar Jaan can wrap this up in less than 4 mins. Just larger ego or whatever you want to call this. Excellent piece but he had done better than this for sure while he was still humble and honest to music. Ego takes its toll on every one including the best of the best and worst of the worst like yours truly.
Thanks for this upload of BJ's Multani LP, Archisman Mozumder Saheb. For many years, several concert recordings of Multani by Bhimsen-jee were available on youtube, all of them marred by Bhimsen's traits ranging from indifference to playing to the gallery. And then there is this recording, now on YT thanks to you. Pure gold. Bhimsen at his mesmeric best.
@@ArchismanMozumder I think we have met. You came down to my place once with my classmate and our friend Ranojoy Chowdhury (Rana) sometime in 1992/93 probably to look at my collection of LPs. I used to live in an area off Hutton Road then. I live in Kolkata now though. Shuvam Ghosh // St.Vincent's/ICSE 1984 batch.
@@shuvamghosh81 I can only remember faintly about the visit. That is a bit surprising because I should not have forgotten visiting someone who had a large collection of LP-s. Ranojoy was a close friend. Our father's were colleagues in IISCO. We are still in touch.
@@ArchismanMozumder Faint recollection is fine! I can explain the faint part because my 'collection' as such was not very voluminous. I had a few which would be the envy of any classical music enthusiast but then, the number was not large. I remembered right away on seeing your photograph though! Ranojoy I was in touch with till about 7/8 years back - met him once maybe a decade back when he was visiting Kolkata but unfortunately have lost the trail since. Thanks for your reply and for the very enjoyable uploads.
I guess that the singer is Purushottam Kapila. I listened to this record a long time ago. I read his name on the in-card of the audio cassette. I had forgotten it in the meantime. I strained my memory and recalled it.
@@ketantamhankar3620 This is from Bhimsen-jee's LP release from 1966-1967, which has Yaman-kalyaan on one side and Multani on the other side. There is no vocal accompaniment on this, or any other, Bhimsen LP. In 1990s an audio cassette was released with a longer multani recital by BJ from 1950s. That recital had vocal support by Purushottam Kapila.
पंडित भीमसेन जोशी ह्यांना ऐकायचं म्हणजे एक पर्वणीच असते....खूप गोष्टी शिकायला मिळतात.....🎉
Very few singers can take on Raag Multani with so much ease and demonstrate its magnificence.
Pandit ji itne jaldi kyoun chale gaye bahut afsos hota hai such me.
Aise hi pandit ji ka shudh kalyan suno sab chati fat jayegi ....wah wah wah wah
2010 ला हा मुलतानी ऐकला होता...त्यानंतर आजच...
याच्या शोधात नऊ वर्षे गेले आणि आज अचानकच...
तुमचे शतश: आभार....
मनापासून धन्यवाद....

Simply mesmerising! I have listened to this at least 100 times... gives the same joy every time..
Chandrakant kamat....tabala...Eknath thakurdas... harmonium
Thanks, Archisman! I've heard the famous Harvallabh Festival performance, of course, but I had been looking for this one.

I find this to be one of Pt Bhimsen's finest pieces

Can anyone tell who the accompanying singer is?
