- The tiger shark was captured on video nearly overturning Scott Haraguchi's kayak while he was fishing off Kualoa in Hawaii on Friday.

At least 3 possibilities of the reason of this attack : (1) Fisherman states that the tiger shark mauled a sealine and thought that his kayak was the floundering seal. Possibly but this shark would know the differnce between the 2 most likely (2) Fisherman has a fish aboard his kayak as an object for the shark ( better possibility) or (3) TERRITORIAL ATTACK . In my opinion it is a territorial attack on the boat which the shark sees an animate living form competing for the sharks food supply. The shark wants this boat ( competitor ) out of the area away from the injured seal considered now the sharks catch and food. In any event a harrowing experience.

Anytime you are spearing, fishing, dumping meat, fish guts and blood or madly splashing/jumping into the water and there is a shark in the vicinity of any size that is hungry... you are on the menu.

Since sharks see contrast colors, anything that is very bright against lighter or darker skin can look like a bait fish to a shark. For this reason, he suggests swimmers avoid wearing yellow, white, or even bathing suits with contrasting colors, like black and white.
The Kyak is bright yellow prob why it attacked a recent study came out about this.

that shark was "tasting" the kayak. their taste buds are in their gums. that is the reason for exploratory bites, if to figure out if it is food.
between injured seal, freaked out fish on hook, shape of kayak, sharks sensory nerves lit, it's going to take that exploratory bite.
good thing it was the kayak and not this gentleman's leg that was in the water.

I like how they say ‘Shark attacks are incredibly rare’. No, they are not. Not anymore. Most aggression is short lived but if the shark would of accidentally grabbed his arm, he would be dead. Sharks and Orcas have amped up aggression towards humans.
Shark attracts are rare.many more people are now getting out on the sea, swimming,surfing.etc.we have more media output.our own camera gear,makes you wonder if he didn't film the attack,it wouldn't of made the news.there are studies going on, talking of changing the colour on bottom of canoes,surf boards etc.as the shark thinks it's another fish to eat.

The people attacked are rarely eaten. The story I saw on Sharks Happen 🦈 the shark bit off the divers head and one arm and they washed up the next day. Many attacks are territorial. About slowly moving away? Some hits are like being hit by a truck. You're literally knocked out of the water
@@spongemonkeysooz My first encounter with a great white shark was off the coast of Vancouver Canada, a large female bumped me from behind, I was spun around, she swam out, circled back, circled me slowly, then moved off. I have spent Every vacation since swimming with sharks, hand feeding, petting them. Of all the animals we encounter, bears, dogs, cats, sharks are the very least aggressive towards humans.
