Cornelia Parker's work is very, very clever, sensitive and insightful, but above all very clever. Unlike other conceptual artists, she is readily understandable, and I find her work always thought-provoking and deeply poetic. She is a master at her craft.
Excellent insight into the artistic process, turning the mundane and everyday into the magical. NOT boring at all. Please study the history of art if you feel like some of the commentators below.
1. If you need so much knowledge of art history to understand a piece, then that piece has failed on a very basic level. Art doesn't have to be simple but it should still be able to communicate with the audience. 2. Art is supposed to break boundaries, not reinforce the class system. If you studied art history you'd know how the academic study of art was (and somewhat still is) such a sexist, racist field that expecting your audience to know art history is expecting them to be majority white men.
@@ampz1466 You have clearly never studied art at any level. Why is art the only field of study where everyone thinks they are an expert with less than 30 seconds invested in the field; while others seem to find enough material to study a lifetime? Imagine that same approach to philosophy, maths, biology, religion, tennis, chess, music, film, politics, astronomy.... I think you get the point. Or rather, I would hope that you would have gotten the point. Remember that people see you when you announce your ignorance; no one ever thinks it's charming.
@@henrybemis9956 Actually I used to work as a gallery assistant and I'm currently in my third year studying towards a BA in Visual arts. My degree is mostly art history with a few practical modules.
Don't study the "history of art" if you want to appreciate beauty. That is and will always be the purpose of art. The more you "study" art the further from it's purpose and core you become.
Her worst enemies are workers doing their job and she humorously scolds them of doing something wrong. Filing cracks with metal? Wow, excuse me whilst I doze off.

Too many commercials. It ruins the flow.
This series should be called, what white rich middle class artists do all day..
If you look at her background and artistic history you would realise how much your remark does not relate in any way to Cornelia Parker.
What a pathetic comment!
