Brought here by Deborah Orr's book, 'Motherwell' about her upbringing in the town the 60's and 70's. What lovely broad, spacious streets in these films. Clearly prosperous.
@@tulipwindmill Aye , probably about 20 flats above the engine sheds , open landings and a courtyard/ drying green to the rear. The rabbit holes I’m disappearing down in lockdown 😱😉😷 A lot of the Firemen worked as delivery drivers for Bairds in Motherwell and Wishaw as they had HGV licenses and were ultra reliable.
@@tulipwindmill ahh, you missed the open days by about 10 years . They put bunting around the station and opened it for the kids to play with the engines etc once a year . A smashing bunch of chaps.
The swing park at 5.01 would be shut down in these days due to health and safety, loved these parks when i was young made you tough and knackered you out..(great vids so much has changed in the area and for the worst bring back Motherwell district council and dump N.L.C.
My mum was born in Motherwell in 1952...lived at coursington road.

My local was the Knowtop Bar ,right next to the Fire station.
Loved this. I remember the fire station being there. My mum used to work in the Primary Care office in Dalzell Drive.
The Firemen and their families used to live in flats above the station 😉😷
@@cyclesgoff9768 Did they,I never knew that.
