Oh I love that trick with the water pen to tear out a section of tissue paper. Coolness!
Okay, I should be exclaiming, with my long ears alert and my little pink nose twitching as I consult my pocket watch, “I’m late, I’m late, for a very important date!”. But even though I’m not caught up with the 52 weeks, I am having a darned good time with my journal and the gel prints I have made so far.
Robyn, you are absolutely The Superlative Artist. You can make any color scheme entrancingly lovely, as you did here. Your videos are wonderfully instructive, but also entertaining and interesting (somehow you breeze through an hour and fifteen minutes without ever running dry-and I know that is no easy thing to accomplish). I got on Patreon because I get so much out of your videos it simply seemed fair to pay you back, only to find I was eligible for even more fabulous videos! And I am so looking forward to your book.
I don’t know if it’s a seasonal thing, but in just the past weeks, I’ve slid from exploring teaming Golden’s transparent brown oxide (which is really the most bewitching brown) with various blues, to building a few layers of the sheered-out brown over coffee stained paper. (Getting low on my big tube of heavy bodied paint, I’ve tried to buy it in the fluid form, only to find it apparently isn’t made in fluid acrylic (!) so I settled for a big jar of the heavier paint.). Also, while my go to metallic is Golden’s bronze, lately I’ve been mixing it with Golden’s regular gold and copper to get a metallic that is a bit brighter, so maybe that’s influenced by spring . . .
Oh dear-this comment is supposed to be for the 15th Challenge video; the 16the must have sneaked in without me realizing the video changed. Oh well . . .

Thank you 🙏🏻 ❤ I haven’t heard about Boro but it was so interesting that I looked up… At least I bought some Boro fabric for my journal 🎎🪭🧧🎐🥰 on etsy and found a guy on TH-cam „sashiko stitching“ or sthg like this and he is from japan …? explained the difference between Boro & Sashiko and he pronounced it exactly like you 😘
I’m always curious about words - spelling, pronunciation, etc. - so I looked up boro, partly because an O is so rarely pronounced like a U. And the only thing I know about Japanese is that words are usually pronounced the way they are spelled. Sure enough, it’s not pronounced “burrow” but FORO, almost like saying the number 4 and the letter O. Yep, the B sounds like an F, which is unexpected! Both O’s are long. But don’t quote me 😱 since Robyn probably learned from the expert she mentioned in her comment!

I’m only repeating the western accepted version of the pronunciation as I’ve heard and actually we shorten it to one boro. They would say boroboro making the r’s sound like n’s however most westerners who have even heard this term just say boro as in (bow row).
Please share the source of your information and I’ll follow up!
I’m certain that the Japanese would pronounce it differently (from region to region pronunciation varies the same as a southerner vs a northerner in America) considering that they wouldn’t spell it like that either as kanji is a ideogram language that uses a standardized 46 forms complicated by At least four other derivations of the kanji to make up a total of over 1000 of these complex ideograms...lol
So it’s all a transliteration. Honestly Im no expert on this language I opt for what is commonly accepted

I didn't show the Boro stitch or (sashiko) this video in fact it never occurred to me as Boro means many things related to patching and little know is Boro Collage which I've taught in Patreon. Your discussion reminded me of the time I had a pair of thread bare jeans (way before distressing being a fashion statement) and I just wouldn’t give those jeans up. There were patches on top of patches on top of patches. I just kept stitching them up. 😊

I'm from Israel and this kind of materials are difficult to find if any at all also very very expensive, so I'd like to order it amazon but i'd like to know the name of the product and manufacture it is.
On amazon there is such a variety of materials and after being dissipated in the past from buying the wrong product I'm asking for a specific
recommendation this days :)

Now you are dealing with my world. Using fonts for letters that are symmetrical can make it easy to make mistakes. They look ok upside down. Creates a bad user experience.
Working with software developers who design so that people make mistakes is what I try to prevent.

I think I missed something - I was expecting to see stitching. But is this just about the effect you get, not actual stitching? Sorry to be confused.
I am so dissappointed. Here you said you were going to show something about "boro" stitching . Something relatively new to me. I have done sashiko , but was anxious to see this new thing. I thought I had missed it, so I watched the whole video again and there was no more information about the "boro" stitch was all about.
I believe that boro is the patching, and sashiko is the stitching.
Hi Carol, Oh my how can you be disappointed with my Gift to you and the YT community, by now you know I don't believe in right or wrong, it's all just a journey! :) Actually I never said that I was going to do Boro stitching I referred to it as the Art of Boro, which includes stitching but also Collage. Little known is something called Boro Collage. Additionally, these are prompts that don't always have a technique applied to them. These are concepts that we can develop our ideas with.
The whole point of this 52 weeks is to inspire and think outside of the box when it comes to our Art. It never occurred to show the boro stitch as it just a very simple running stitch, plus I really wanted to piece Text together in the style of Boro. Which so many people really wanted to learn.
As with much of the Japanese aesthetic the words are not specifics as with English, but create moods that one can take liberty with, like wabi sabi this term is used in so so many ways meaning perfection in imperfection boroboro means to piece together and that can be many things. Try not to be disappointed as I'm taking you on a journey that you should really have no expectations except for it will last for 52 weeks and we will focus on our Art journaling the rest is meant to be unexpected and stimulating.

@@sherenspilker140 Yes that is true, which is why this term has been applied to various artforms in Japan, as it is a culture of preservation ,or at least once was :)
