Love it how everyone yelled at Sheila to stop taking the poison, even Lauren and James who I think suffered the most, and Stephanie barely moved, and slightly opened her mouth as if to yell too in case anyone was looking at her. Love whenever Ridge does his voice like that when he said Sheila's name. Brooke "I care Sheila", Stephanie looking at her like "how dare you"!

Interesting to note that Sheila planned to die without telling about Bridget's paternity. This is a good quality about her, because at this time she really didn't want to hurt Brooke. She is good to those who are good to her.
When Brooke gives the “if you’re going to murder my family…take me with them” speech it felt like she was acting -thinking what would Taylor do? At this point she’s using this situation to win points. I don’t think she was ready to die for her family. It just sounded good. I don’t think she really thought Sheila would kill her.
I doubt she really thought it would come to it. Maybe she counted on being the last person in the room Sheila would want to see dead. Nevertheless, the fact that she did it at all is probably the _one_ selfless act I can think of that Brooke ever did (at least up until this point).
@@z-5reader939 you know, I also made a comment elsewhere that it felt like Brooke was shielding Steph for brownie points lol. The stock she was "selflessly" giving back, but is still holding to... The fact she was "selflessly" planning to tell Ridge about Taylor and now it seems like Ridge doesn't care that she hid it from him ... Excellent job Lauren. Only a genuine person can penetrate a wounded soul and a broken mind. Angel Trinidad West Indies. 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹

*Sheila’s “Death” and Sacrifice* We all know Sheila will return but the staging of what could’ve been her end here is interesting. First I’m glad to see that her relationship with Lauren is centered again. Unlike incompetent James, Lauren manages to psycho-analyze Sheila (“self-love”) in a way that really gets to her and gets her to drop the gun. Then Lauren figures out Sheila’s intention to drink poison and says, “Don’t do it!” Is this compassion from Lauren? Sheila seems skeptical (“as if you care”) and the viewer should be too given their history and the fact that Lauren just listed all the terrible things Sheila did to her. So what’s going on here? I’ve written before how Lauren seems to enjoy her feud with Sheila and takes pleasure in trying to upstage her (see episodes 1532 and 1662) - if Sheila ends her life, then Lauren doesn’t have that anymore. And there’s another element too. Sheila’s “death” can be seen as a sacrifice _in a storytelling sense_ where the writer uses a death to redeem a character. Scott’s death in Catalina operated this way (and Sheila called it a sacrifice) as his dying wish prevented Lauren from exposing Sheila and gave her another chance with Eric (see episode 1671). Such sacrifices always have Biblical allusions and Scott dying for Sheila’s sins was Christ-like. And now here we have Sheila, like Christ himself, dying only to be resurrected later (there’s even a Barabbas figure in Thorne, set free by the plot before the big sacrifice). Note all the redemptive elements: Sheila asks for and receives Eric’s forgiveness (from the patriarch like “Father, Forgive them”), she drops the gun and recognizes the goodness in her enemies, and then reveals a pure motive of reciprocal love. And the end of the episode is mournful - not the send-off for an unrepentant villain. There’s a sense that Sheila has been redeemed and perhaps _this_ is what Lauren was trying to avoid. She didn’t want Sheila to have the glory and redemption of a sacrificial death. She wants Sheila behind bars. And indeed when Sheila returns, she won’t spend a lifetime in prison like she should for her crimes, so it’s as if the slate has been wiped clean here, her sins “forgiven” by the writer. But how can sacrificing Sheila only redeem Sheila? Christ’s resurrection didn’t only save himself. Ah, but I would argue Sheila’s sacrifice also benefits _another_ character, one with whom she has been closely and narratively aligned: her friend Brooke. In episode 1671, I wrote how Brooke was redeemed by Caroline’s death and in episode 1921, I wrote how Brooke and Sheila are often on similar story trajectories. Now Brooke is being redeemed again, this time by the “end” of Sheila’s story and thus the removal of a character who did bad things on Brooke’s behalf that Brooke couldn’t do (like tampering with Bridget’s paternity). Note how saintly Brooke is portrayed here: Sheila identifies Brooke as the only one of the group who was kind to her, Brooke tries to martyr herself for Stephanie, and after Sheila dismisses Lauren’s “compassion” it’s Brooke’s, “I care Sheila, don’t do it!” that seems genuine. *Annie* has informed us that Brooke will become a Good Girl for a good year after this and in that case, this may have been the turn for her character. Brooke gets to be pure and good in this scene so she’s redeemed by Sheila’s sacrifice and indeed when Sheila returns, much of her initial storyline will be doing everything she can _for_ Brooke. To complete the Biblical allegory: just like the sinful woman who washes Jesus’ feet and is sanctified in Scripture, Brooke becomes a Good Girl in the Script at Sheila’s goodbye party.
I find it hard to believe Brooke as the "Good Girl",try as the writers might lol. But as usual this is a great analysis 👌🏽👌🏽 I've always said Sheila is the crazy, over the top version of Brooke, who could do the crazy things Brooke couldn't legitimately do. Brooke can only have leeway up to a certain level.
Brilliant analysis of how a death can be used in fiction as ceremonial redemption. Love the Biblical allusions like Thorne/Barabbas! And yes they really lay it on thick here to make Brooke look good. She gets to demonstrate traits we've never seen from her (kindness, compassion and selflessness). The funny thing is, some of Sheila's sins that Lauren listed are also true for Brooke.
@@TriniT21 Thanks *Trish* and *Jase.* Brooke exhibiting goodness in this scene feels like a turning point for her character. Like you said Trish, Sheila represents the darkest side of Brooke. So Sheila exiting the show is like the devil on Brooke's shoulder leaving and now the angel on her other shoulder takes over completely. That's part of the "ceremony" of this scene (to use Jase's word).
Beautiful writing and great analysis Nick. 👍👍 And it's notable that Brooke is part of the family gathering while Taylor isn't. (Thorne isn't either but that's par for the course)
Brooke standing in front of Stephanie, but when Sheila would say: O.K. it's you then, Brooke would say: Oh I didn't know it was that serious, in that case I'm out, Steph good luck.
No matter what Sheila has done, all she wanted was love. She just looked for it in all the wrong ways. Sadly, Lauren, Stephanie, Brooke, Ridge, Eric, and James didn’t fully see that. Even those who are not there like Thorne, Macy, Taylor, and Connor didn’t see it. If these people weren’t cruel, dismissive, or users, I wonder what Sheila would be as a person? Either way, it makes you think how this could’ve been. Now, the Maggie saga will be coming and Sheila will be back to being evil once again.
Sheila's party highlights the good acting and the bad. Brooke has had only one look on her face throughout the entire episode. She blinked maybe once! 😂
@@annieo6527 that is exactly what it felt like.. Sheila on stage. Because they just let her walk around talking at them long b4 she pulled out that gun. But she def commanded everyone's attention. And I love how KB is able to just switch from anger, to vulnerability, back to anger. I thought the "end" of Sheila wasn't so great tho.. So many better ways they could have amped that up, esp with some kind of actual show down between Steph and Sheila (a la Brooke vs Steph over Belief). It ended up being forced and a little comical to me... Like the writers were really trying hard to finally bring this story to an end.
I kinda love the scene with Burke at 5:00 - Burke's tone, when he tells the cops that these are not the suspects (they are waiting for)- and then his face at 5:12, when he tells Jessica how terrible sorry he is.
😂😂😂 Her character was so unimportant. Like I know bold and beautiful bring on people for just short stints, but I think this was the one character I couldn't wait for them to get off the show
And they are talking about Sheila getting the death penalty, without giving as much as a thought to poor Thorne who is _actually_ heading in that direction already.
If you take out the pointless Taylor and Jack scenes, this is actually one of the more solid 1995 episodes. A great temporary send-off for one of daytime's greatest psychopaths, and Sally, Gladys and Darla a delight. Even Jessica and Dylan had their moment. Had to laugh at Jessica's face when Lt Burke mentioned Sheila. Jessica was like "who?". Did she ever meet her uncle's wife?😂
If she only knew Sheila tried to run her out of town, do away with her hyperventilating self, and stole her formula from her computer... I wonder if she'd be her "friend" then. She only cares bc she saw Sheila as her ally against Steph.
So brooke offers her life for Stephanie???? 😂😂😂😂 Snd its so damn unrealistic, that nobody was in fear in front of sheila. And ridge, brooke and lauren are strong and offer their lives... So unrealistic and suddenly sheila breaks down and gives up....
So glaring how Eric and James remained in the background while everyone else stepped up to confront/oppose Sheila... while she was holding a gun. Even when Sheila first drew the gun, Ridge blocked Brooke and Lauren blocked James.
@@teligon was about to say at least James offered himself as a sacrifice in the previous episode. Then I remembered it was just before the gun came out
Good that Taylor already has decided to drop all pretend (all disguises) and to be Taylor Forrester again. Having Gladys as confidante would make it impossible to keep the charade up. Gladys from now on will use Taylor Forrester as reference for Glady's amazing hair and makeup job.
Funny. They have uploaded this episode some years ago and I watched it yesterday, but then they had cut out all of the scenes with the police and Jessica and Dylan.
(joke) The next time Gladys happily will help a fugitive Sheila to disguise herself to fool everyone including the police. And afterwards Gladys can then add Sheila Carter Forrester's name as another reference for Glady's amazing work. And if anyone doubts Gladys - just call Mike's apartment and ask him or Sheila, if Gladys is right.🤣
SF definitely seems detached. I read that she suffered from fibromyalgia which caused much pain. Not sure if her health was suffering in these last few episodes where she doesn’t seem quite like herself. Or, maybe the writers/director wanted her to lay low on purpose. Hard to know.
I would have like for once see Eric really facing the consequences of his doings and actions. Here would have been a great opportunity to have him face the fact, he is the one that married Sheila, put his and others life at risk and with his actions alignated her. Sheila should have been mad with only one person in this room and try to kill that person and that is Eric. None of those other owes Sheila anything. Only Eric. He is the one who made Sheilas life and their marriage difficult (plus she herselfhad responsiblity for it as well). He is the one that owes his wife a better treatment and loyalty. He was the husband from hell (like he is for everyone of his wives). Nobody else in this room has any oblications to Sheila, only Eric.
The cops have focused too much on the blue mustang and Jessica and Dylan. But it is strange that *Jessica* didn't enter the house to tell everyone about the mixup and how Dylan and Jessica had had cops pointing guns at them and had handcuffed them.
@@francescofabbri7454Nah, that's just another excuse for Brooke. Taylor wasn't shot when she tried to protect her! Too bad Taylor missed Bill, he didn't need protection! Anyway, I wish Taylor didn't save Brooke either, since she never appreciated it!😌

I know many would not like what I'm going to say. I find SF not so involved in these scese, yesteday and today, even if I understand the fact that Sheila hates Stephanie the most, and Not Eric (who knows how to be invisible) and her life is at stake here. Usually she is great even when she doesn't say anything. Probaly the script was focused on Sheila, but the other characters had more involvement than her.
I see SF as the kind of actor who commands the scene whether she is in the center of it or standing in the background. Not many actors have that skill. Look at James and Brooke how weak they are compared to the rest.
I wrote something similar. Yesterday lack of face by Sheilas berating her , I get and I like. But today, her lack of reaction at anything is interesting and I don't know if it was a choice of Susan or in the Script, to let Stephanie appear completely unfaced with anything that goes on. Maybe she letted others have the floor here and step back or the script was lackluster and she didn't care. I could imagine all of it or it is a acting choice, to let Stephanie not belief in Sheilas crys and analysing if it is an escape plan.
Gosh, Brooke must be delighted to be held at gunpoint with Ridge and Stephanie. She would be happy to rub it in Taylor's face: We had this amazing bonding experience and you diiiidnnnnn't🎉🎉🎉🎉!

I made a comment in an earlier epi that the Sheila farewell party was anti climactic to me. I actually like the Sheila character.. I think BB needed an actual evil villain and Sheila was a good one. However, the scene ended up falling flat... Compared to, for eg, Sheila holding Lauren and her mother in the farmhouse on YR. The writers dragged out Sheila holding James in a dungeon for far too long, esp since James is such a non entity character that neither the characters nor we the viewers missed his presence when he was not on screen. Now it feels like the writers are rushing the end of Sheila bc they took too long and made that story too ridiculous.

Interesting to note that Sheila planned to die without telling about Bridget's paternity. This is a good quality about her, because at this time she really didn't want to hurt Brooke. She is good to those who are good to her.
The writers want to use that gem of information in another storyline. This is dramatic enough.
If she died now she’d go down as Ridge’s wife. Take that Taylor! 😂
@@z-5reader939 you know, I also made a comment elsewhere that it felt like Brooke was shielding Steph for brownie points lol. She has a good thing going with Steph because of thwir "alliance" over Taylor. This would also add to it.
Also, all her attempts at being "selfless" have fallen pretty flat up to now.. The stock she was "selflessly" giving back, but is still holding to... The fact she was "selflessly" planning to tell Ridge about Taylor and now it seems like Ridge doesn't care that she hid it from him ...
Now I guess this is another attempt at being selfless, but as @AnnieO said.. She was counting on Sheila not shooting her anyway.
I guess Brooke & Ridge didn’t care if they died and left the children orphaned to protect Stephanie .😮
@@annieo6527 Brooke knows you're not _really_ Ridge's wife until you make him a widower. This is just another way of her competing with Caroline and Taylor. 🙃
🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹 Lauren sums up Sheila well!
The core of her problem is self loathing.
Her center is corrupted with fear.
Sheila fears that she cannot love he erself and by extension others, so she hides behind a mask of control which can only fall when the spoken truth penetrates from a vulnerable source of understanding and truth.
Excellent job Lauren.

At Last someone questions the speedy mariage of ridge and brooke
I've been questioning that for 37 years now😂😂
Thank u. When Ridge started yelling at Taylor about marrying Omar, she should have started yelling back at him about marrying Brooke so soon after the casket was barely in the ground.

*Sheila’s “Death” and Sacrifice*
We all know Sheila will return but the staging of what could’ve been her end here is interesting.
But as usual this is a great analysis 👌🏽👌🏽
I've always said Sheila is the crazy, over the top version of Brooke, who could do the crazy things Brooke couldn't legitimately do.
And it's notable that Brooke is part of the family gathering while Taylor isn't.

Why isn’t Burke checking the people inside the house to see how they are doing??? 🙄🙄🙄
She could've had unconditional love with Mike

I thought the "end" of Sheila wasn't so great tho.. So many better ways they could have amped that up, esp with some kind of actual show down between Steph and Sheila (a la Brooke vs Steph over Belief). It ended up being forced and a little comical to me... Like the writers were really trying hard to finally bring this story to an end.
I kinda love the scene with Burke at 5:00 - Burke's tone, when he tells the cops that these are not the suspects (they are waiting for)- and then his face at 5:12, when he tells Jessica how terrible sorry he is.
That was very irresponsible and dangerous of Sheila to drop the gun with the hammer still pulled back. It still could've went off by accident.

Had to laugh at Jessica's face when Lt Burke mentioned Sheila. Jessica was like "who?". Did she ever meet her uncle's wife?😂

So brooke offers her life for Stephanie???? 😂😂😂😂 Snd its so damn unrealistic, that nobody was in fear in front of sheila. And ridge, brooke and lauren are strong and offer their lives... So unrealistic and suddenly sheila breaks down and gives up....
Something Brooke would live to regret
No way was I letting Stephanie steal my camera angles and close-up. _That’s_ why I stepped in front of her. _I'm_ the star of this show!
So glaring how Eric and James remained in the background while everyone else stepped up to confront/oppose Sheila... while she was holding a gun.

And afterwards Gladys can then add Sheila Carter Forrester's name as another reference for Glady's amazing work. And if anyone doubts Gladys - just call Mike's apartment and ask him or Sheila, if Gladys is right.🤣
Now the police mentions the security guy? Why haven't they looked at Mike's apartment for Sheila?
There’s a lot of flaws with this police operation.
Back when Sally and Gladys' friendship began lol
SF definitely seems detached. I read that she suffered from fibromyalgia which caused much pain. Not sure if her health was suffering in these last few episodes where she doesn’t seem quite like herself. Or, maybe the writers/director wanted her to lay low on purpose. Hard to know.
She looks tired.

They've been under writing for Steph for a while now...
Sheila's last act should have been a scene between her and Steph alone.
