Top 10 easy and i dont think he is under appreciated. his talent is well known and enjoyed. but like he stated in the beginning he is a band drummer and not a solo set style. Shannon Larkin is synonymous with Neal Peart as far as talent.
That Wrathchild stuff is so technically demanding and here he is 25 years later playing it flawlessly. And he's so into it which is what makes it awesome. The insane hihat arm movements around the 9:00 mark show not only how technically adelpt he is but how in the zone he is playing. I had the opportunity to hang out with him for an evening back in 1993 and he was such a nice guy. Down to earth and humble. Wish he would be the drummer in my band.
Watching Shannon play old Wrathchild America tunes makes me so happy! I'm a guitarist but they are my number 1 influence as far as bands go. Shannon is one of the best out there.
Grew up in the Baltimore music scene with this guy. He pretty much set the bar for all of us who tried to give it a go...I remember telling people when he was around 16 playing in the clubs, one day he's gonna wind up going somewhere...Well,he did!
The Man; The Myth; The mother fucking Legend, Shannon Larkin. He is, by far, my favorite drummer. Not only is he a savage on the kit, he's a humble and nice guy. What more can you ask for?
Thanks for posting this Greg!!! Shannon is one of the biggest influences for me in drumming!!! I've followed him from his beginning w/ Wrathchild and continue to this day!!! I finally got to meet him back in 2012 and he was nothing but awesome!!! The Guitar Center's on the East Coast never have nothing cool like this!!!
Thanks for uploading the whole thing I was hoping someone would...Shannon Larkin is a fucking boss!! I found out of him because Godsmack is my favorite band so when he joined I immediately loved him!
I wasn't planning on watching this...but the first three minuteZ had me hooked 🥁 I've always loved Larkin...ever since my late wife made me take her to see them back in '03...I've been a huge fan since. God Rest Her Soul...she would have absolutely loved the new album
Hi Brian, thanks a lot for watching this video. I love Shannon Larkin too. He is a very nice and humble man and also the best rock drummer! Anyway, I edit the video with high-res quality, please see here: th-cam.com/video/-RIJYbL_I3w/w-d-xo.html Thanks again. Take care!
Hi Taylor, Thanks for your comment. I'm super happy and lucky had a change watching Shannon Larkin live. He was only 6 feet from my seat. He is an awesome drummer.. and he is a really nice guy.
WHAT THE..I'll be damned! Shannon is straight BEASTING on that YAMAHA. This is like a drug to me. Been loving this drummer for years. Like others, I caught him when he hit it with Godsmack. BIG ASS POCKET,Huge Groove,QUICK,CHOPS that fit in terms of what he's doing, fairly clean strokes. Phenomenal is really 1 description. His playing comes from within and pours out. Put your best headphones and listen to this drummer to really appreciate what he does for the music he plays. That's REAL DAMN SMACKDOWN rite there. Love ya Shannon!!
First of all, thank goodness for Sully and Godsmack because Shannon was about ready to give up music after his experience with past bands before he got to call that he was in.... Second of all, did you ever hear him talk about his crazy wild form of playing and who he modeled it after? He said he wanted to be more than just a dude behind the kit. That he wanted to be like Animal of the Muppets. A little wild and fun.
His original band was Wrathchild. After a court battle they became Wrathchild America. The 3 WC songs are Hernia,Prego,What's Your Pleasure ? First two are instrumental obviously. I've seen Wrathchild at least 20 times and had the honor/pleasure to open for them twice in the'90s.Shannon is phenomenal as a player and as a person. He's IMHO the best rock/metal drummer alive.
Shannon is an amazing drummer. I wish I could have been there. Oh well... At least I get to see him live again when Godsmack comes to Illinois this August.
Outstanding Greg, really appreciate you posting this, ive been looking for new content of Shannon... I can only imagine how great it must have been to be up close and personal, very cool dude...! I'm envious...ha
I LOVE how animated Shannon Larkin is when he's whaling on his drums! I used to go to the Wrathchild America & Souls at Zero shows all of the time back when I lived in Frederick, MD in the late 80's and early/mid 90's. They ALWAYS put on a great show!! For the life of me I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY WEREN'T MORE SUCESSFUL!!!?? Souls at Zero got shelved??, Brad Divens is now running sound for bands that can't even hold a candle to the raw metal that Shannon, Brad, Jay and Terry used to produce!!! And all of the GARBAGE they constantly play on the "rock" stations today... I just don't fucking get it!!!
They were simply just too fucking good for the industry and too far ahead of what most people could handle at the time....The industry was freaking scared to death those guys were going to foul up their master plan....Talk about being held back!
If I believed in an 'Idol' Shannon would be it! Def unmatched & untouchable by any drummer out there hands down. He is T Aldridge, T. Lee, & N. Peart (Rip) all in one, by Far "The Best" rock drummer we have today, maybe Ever
Im going to have to strongly disagree with this statement. While Larkin is a talented drummer, he is not even in the same paragraph as Neil Peart. No way, no how. And not even Neil Peart was the greatest - One of the greats, but there are way better still.
Alright hold up...He said at the beginning that he isn't a soloist. He said he's a 'band guy'. The thing is, anyone who can play the drums like this guy just did...I'll guarantee you, he's got a solo in there somewhere. Yeah, he can solo...he's just being modest...
A cool double wammy .... A lil piece of "checkin in" (Souls at Zero 1993) in a Ugly Kid Joe tune @12:21,,,,,,,, 14:34 and 14:44 TRUE Signature Larkin playin guitar on drums expressions.......
Darius..don't be so harsh man. I've known Shannon since we were 18. He first went on the road with Wrathchild when he was 14. He's been doing this full time since '83. He can play it all; jazz, funk, metal, ska, hip hop. Don't let this one video make you assume wrong presuppositions. He really is one of the best drummers in the world. Toni Iommi asked him to fill in on a couple Sabbath shows while Bill Ward was ill. He has countless respect in the industry and has played with many many well established Rock icons. So do a little more research on the guy and I am sure you will find more than just what you see here.
Unfortunately no =/ I live on the east coast and they are only doing dates over there...I wish they were coming here, I play guitar but I would go to that in a heartbeat
so years ago my friend played in a band for a minute with shannon. A label came to check out the band one night. The quote from the rep was "We're going to pass.....the band isn't so hot. But that fucking drummer is gonna go places."
Hey Greg... great vid man ! I've been watching Shannon play for almost 30 years, when Wrathchild was playing clubs in MD & DC. He truly is a beast. Wondering if you have any more vid from that clinic, or is what you posted all of it ? Thanks...
Hi Jack, sorry for taking long time answering your question. No, I don't have anymore video from that clinic. I have Shannon photos there if you want. He is the best rock drummer I've ever seen. So awesome! Thanks for your comments.

Such an under-appreciated drummer. He is ONE OF THE BEST of all time, EASY! Such a beast!
Hell yeah man! That's what I just said!
Top 10 easy and i dont think he is under appreciated. his talent is well known and enjoyed. but like he stated in the beginning he is a band drummer and not a solo set style. Shannon Larkin is synonymous with Neal Peart as far as talent.

I was there sitting right behind this guy! Shannon was so nice. I'm a fan for life!
My hero. Finally getting the recognition he so rightly deserves.
Love watching Shannon play the drums. So much energy and the expressions he has when he plays.
He's so epic and talented! I could watch him play for hours!
Watching Shannon play old Wrathchild America tunes makes me so happy! I'm a guitarist but they are my number 1 influence as far as bands go. Shannon is one of the best out there.
One of the best!
Grew up in the Baltimore music scene with this guy. He pretty much set the bar for all of us who tried to give it a go...I remember telling people when he was around 16 playing in the clubs, one day he's gonna wind up going somewhere...Well,he did!
I remember it well...my brother used to work for them...Hammerjacks was always fun. Those were the days
Holy shit, amazing! I could watch him play all day!
The Man; The Myth; The mother fucking Legend, Shannon Larkin. He is, by far, my favorite drummer. Not only is he a savage on the kit, he's a humble and nice guy. What more can you ask for?

Michael Sinanis You’re very welcome, bro. Shannon is the best rock drummer ever! I’m grateful I came to this event. Thanks a lot for your comments.

I too have always wished they wouldve done more. I only got to see SAZ one time, and it was one of my favorite concerts!!
Live in Brunswick been watching Shannon sense Wrathchild day. I'm sure you've seen them at Shiley Acres..lol
He said once in an interview he liked how animal moved while playing drums on sesame street. I see the similarities.
Hammerjacks, Baltimore Maryland- perhaps?!
If I believed in an 'Idol' Shannon would be it! Def unmatched & untouchable by any drummer out there hands down. He is T Aldridge, T. Lee, & N. Peart (Rip) all in one, by Far "The Best" rock drummer we have today, maybe Ever
He is really the Phenomenal Godly Drummer...Respect🙏🙏🙏
He's a beast!!
Thanks! Awesome!
Anyone know the song at 15:22? Immediately cuts off 5 seconds after it starts but it sounds good
Found it. No One Survives by Ugly Kid Joe
Shannon Larkin! The best drummer since Neil Peart! Thanks
Absolutely
agreed
Try archspire drummer Spencer prewett
I like how you guys think...🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻. Surely one the greatest..
Im going to have to strongly disagree with this statement.
While Larkin is a talented drummer, he is not even in the same paragraph as Neil Peart. No way, no how.
And not even Neil Peart was the greatest - One of the greats, but there are way better still.
The closest we'll ever get to that again , THANK YOU .
Es un capo. Si versatilidad es increíble uno no se aburre escuchqndolo
It's amazing how he can be so animated and only touch half of his kit! But, damn once he starts, I honestly don't think there's anyone better!
Wow! Just......wow! Very cool!
cool thank....going to see his blues band next week!
Legends have it that after the show the drum set caught on fire and burned to ash.
So true I've seen it
That double bass! The next Godsmack album should have a couple songs with that.
More power more sound , ♥
Alright hold up...He said at the beginning that he isn't a soloist. He said he's a 'band guy'. The thing is, anyone who can play the drums like this guy just did...I'll guarantee you, he's got a solo in there somewhere. Yeah, he can solo...he's just being modest...
Neil Pert and Shannon Larkin! Made in Heaven!!~
One of the better drummers that can back up the style he’s playing.
He was in a local band in Baltimore called Wrathchild America back in the 80's.
Sound's like .my basement, I miss walking upstairs, ear's ringing , feeling good 😆
Awesome 👏👏👏🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🇨🇦🇨🇦🥁
A cool double wammy .... A lil piece of "checkin in" (Souls at Zero 1993) in a Ugly Kid Joe tune @12:21,,,,,,,, 14:34 and 14:44 TRUE Signature Larkin playin guitar on drums expressions.......
What a Beast!
I guess he is the most groovy, heavy, touchy and underrated drummer in the world
BUT
my personal favourite one, with Dave Lombardo
Vinnie paul is the best groovy drummer 💪
The best drummer in the world hands down!!!
His drumming on Worship & Tribute by Glassjaw is incredible
does he play any of it in this video?
He is awsome
Very cool. It would have been cool to see the entire clinic tho...

Even with the crappy audio Shannon puts a smile on my face!
OMG THANK YOU!!!!!!! SHANNON IS THE FUCKING MAN!

Unfortunately no =/ I live on the east coast and they are only doing dates over there...I wish they were coming here, I play guitar but I would go to that in a heartbeat
He is Ross Robinsons go to guy if he needs a studio drummer. Great drummer
so years ago my friend played in a band for a minute with shannon. A label came to check out the band one night. The quote from the rep was "We're going to pass.....the band isn't so hot. But that fucking drummer is gonna go places."
The brother is a beast Straight Like That
Souls At Zero yeah! that's the band I started liking Shannon
Hey Greg... great vid man ! I've been watching Shannon play for almost 30 years, when Wrathchild was playing clubs in MD & DC. He truly is a beast. Wondering if you have any more vid from that clinic, or is what you posted all of it ? Thanks...
