Thank you for demonstrating this and showing me that I never want to do this. 😂 God speed.

What I think that all the comments forgot to talk about was your determination and I loved it. Of course I also learned from your video but for me your determination to do it was great. 👍🏼

At 23:21 I refer to using a socket, I inserted a small deep well socket into the fabric sleeve to assist in guiding the wire through the sleeve. Unfortunately, the clip showing this didn't turnout.

Thanks for posting this... I had found this OEM seat cover a while back and intended to order but had no idea what would be involved in installing it, now I know and I know to buy the hog rings and hog ring pliers in advance. I also need to do the seat back cover because it has the infamous hole that happens to all FJ Driver seats, just need to figure out the best way to cover up that piece of metal that sticks out of the foam and ultimately tears the seat back cover... I can see yours does not have the hole yet but it is not far off...

Thank you for posting this, but I must tell you and the viewers that the technique that you used to remove the hooked rods (you called them "stays") was wrong, hence all your difficulties with it. You are actually supposed to remove the rings (aka hog rings) and reinstall them using a tool called "hog ring pliers" - look it up, they cost between $11-15 online. It can be done with regular pliers also, albeit not as easily as with hog ring pliers, but still much easier than the way you did it.

Ditto on this comment. This job is a ton easier if you just cut the hog rings to remove them. The cover then comes off easily. Then you can put the new cover on with new hog rings using a hog ring tool. Easy peasy. No struggling.

The whole foam pad comes out of the seat frame. Cut the old sleeves to get the seat cover off. Then cut all the hog rings. Put the wires into the new upholstery sleeves and use hog rings to attach the cover over the foam. Then slide the covered foam into the seat frame and reattach the front, then sides then the rear clips.

yes i want to replace mine but the oem cloth is very expensive but also is the best upholstery and confortable i ever seen in a car ...they offer me to install leather for less than half of the price but its not water proof anymore and it looks ugly and cheap
