The master of high intensity training, Dorian Yates, has 7 exercises to give you a leg-up in the gym. Hamstrings, quads, calves - Dorian Yates leg workout will help you pack on slabs of leg muscle that you've never known before!
Dorian Yates' Blood Guts 6-Week Trainer
Created by legendary pro bodybuilder and six-time Mr. Olympia Dorian Yates, Blood & Guts is a classic, aggressive bodybuilding program for maximizing muscle growth. This six-week plan is built on Dorian's signature training style: high-intensity training, or HIT. And to demonstrate, he enlists renowned trainer and bodybuilder Kris Gethin as the victim.
Learn high-intensity training from the master
We're not talking about high-intensity interval training! HIT with one "I" is the muscle growth protocol Dorian Yates used to build his legendary bodybuilder physique and hold the Mr. Olympia title against all comers. Instead of racking up volume, you'll take one working set far beyond failure with extreme techniques like partial reps and extra negatives. If you've never tried HIT bodybuilding before, it'll shock your muscles into growth like nothing else.
Expert Instruction
In four instructional videos, Dorian Yates puts Kris Gethin through every workout in the plan, delivering expert coaching and pro tips along the way. Seeing is believing, and watching Dorian take someone through these workouts in the gym will help you understand the technique and intensity far better than simply reading a workout ever could.
Unreal Results
In addition to the plan itself, you get an exclusive video of Dorian Yates' own top 10 bodybuilding tips. In this must-watch video, Dorian lays out what he believes are the critical keys to building your best physique. He lays out his take on nutrition, supplementation, injury prevention, and more. Watch it before you get started in the gym so you can apply Dorian's wisdom to the full plan!

yates: "one more rep"
"ok last one"
"one more rep"
+batterycock I tell myself that all the time and it works, especially when i'm doing bench press with 54kg (120lbs) for 6 reps and 8 145kg (329lbs) regular deadlifts!!
Trey Myles That's a weak bench
Benedict San Diego
Stfu
If he’s a beginner his deadlift form is ass

You're a total scumbag.
leg training separates the men from the boys
You got that right nephew
Real shit

Dorian is my favorite body builder...he has a unique philosophy around body building...well done!!!
Maria Garozi Kai Green has some interesting approaches too if you like this, check him out
FilthyMcNastyAzz thanks...
Body building is quite simple. Thats why many people can't do it. Bc there really isn't a magic pull or workout. It's just pure dedication. And then great genetics as well if you want to win shows
Mike Mentzer had a unique approach to. Kind of similar to Dorian's but doing stuff really slow.
@@batman6540 Mike Mentzer train Dorian Yates
dorian yates is a legend, learned alot off him
Rumour has it Dorian is still stood there today asking for one more rep
Nothing beats a good hard leg workout to failure!!
It hurts me just to look at that guy on the leg press lock his knees with all that weight, it looks like his knees are bending in like about to break. I don't lock my knees , it keeps constant tension on the quads like that . But then again what do I know , this is 6 time mr O teaching. I did like the back workout from dorian yates.
Ritchie R u are correct ur not supposed to lock out ur knees on leg press. not because of constant tension or anything like that just because it isn't safe. I have seen someomes leg snap backwards that way
Ritchie R I was cringing so hard waiting for a snap lmao
you guys couldnt be more wrong.
@@isacelmgren3414 Watch the videos of legs snapping on fir leg press from locking out
Dr Mike Israetel spoke about this and how he feels locking the knees out under load (not excessively forcefully) is perfectly safe and is how the knee joint is designed to function.
He even references the woman who's knees snapped backwards on the leg press. If anyone wants to check it out, he talks about it in his leg press and hack squat videos I believe.
No 6 time Mr Olympia for no reason. And still healthy. Respect ❤️
I hope some poor beginner doesnt try this. They gonna have to call into work sick after one workout
People need to focus on squats. Really thats all you need. King of all exercises. And I find hack squats put lots of strain on the knees
Eh, most beginners don't have the upper body strength to get an adequate leg workout through squats.
When I do this program I switch out hack squats for regular back squats, find it way more effective
Indigo Blue if I remember corrctly from a magazine article from many years back, Dorian started training this way only after training the 'typical' way (i.e 3-4 work sets per exercise) for 10 years.
Even Mr. Olympia took 10 years of prior training.
@@roblyons2765 If you feel your knees by hack squatting you are doing sometihng wrong
I got amazing gains doing DY. Started at 135 lbs.. skinny ass kid. Worked out for 2 years and went up to 160 lbs. Love DY and KG
in the stretching part, CHECK IT OUT how the man is more flexible than the other 2, that are include younger. he still in a very very very good shape. a truly master
Dorian is an awesome trainer as well as champion! Not everyone can say that! Can’t wait to work with him at his camp in October
Wow man training with the man himself i'm jealous...
That knee lockout at 7:37 hurts my knees by just watching it
I like to see a former Mr. Olympia being such a friendly and good minded adviser to young athletes-always liked Yates-very likeable. The instructions given are very decent and solid and he is a good motivator for sure. AND I still have not seen better calfes on any bodybuilder since the days of his reign.
Hell yeah!! I love it, never trust a big guy. 2 more, one more, blast one out, 2 more, last one, one more ;-)) This is work, it's as much mental as physical, keep the body guessing. You never know what you can do until someone makes you do it. I am a Personal Trainer, results come from motivation to do hard work. Good video post , Thank you. Thanks to Mr Yates.
DY is one hell of a coach....
He made me do that in Temple gym... it was an awesome day
wish i could hire this guy to train me for a year!
I can't imagine myself training with Mr. Olympian... nice workout...
Lol, I like how Dorian tricks him during the leg press. "Last one up" (completes rep) "Alright, two more"
@MrSpenc3r barbell squats strengthen and thicken the core , where as hack squats, leg press, leg extensions and any machine add size to the legs but not the core. Bodybuilding is about a proportions , a small waist makes everything else look bigger and this also a 6 week program , when the 6 weeks are up you can change your work outs and add free weights , the diversity can actually help you grow , the body responds to change
Chris: Thank god! Im off this thing
Dorian: One more!
Chris: ......ok
jesus, those locked out knees on the leg press making me feel nauseous
One more!! One more,last one!!!
That;s three more :) Love it
I dont know how he makes that 1 set work without thinking drugs, and i respect the master Yates
kind of, so here is what you do. lay off any "failure" technique for a few weeks, anywhere from 4-8 weeks to give time for the body to adapt to regular training. during that time pick a weight that by the time you reach 10th-12th rep, you are somewhat struggling. then go ahead and use the failure technique after that time frame. hope that helps
i just started doing these leg workouts, and my legs are shot afterwards. i love it though.
Useful. Thanks, Dorian!
I would love to train with Dorian Yates
Dorian seems like an awesome trainer
A no nonsense no bull shit type of guy. That's what I like 😁
A lot of people want to say you can't build legs without squats. I do Squats and I still think I can build without them. Why? My will to succeed just like Dorian. No matter what you give Dorian I guarantee he would come out on top!
I'm a huge fan of both Chris and Dorian. Go on and hate trolls
That last rep of the clip was a good one!
Dorian commands respect ! Haha ,love the way he talks.
Best coach ever
Best part: “DRIIIVE DRIVE DRIVE DRIVE”
training to failure is like a "tool", and the great thing about our human body is that it is able to adapt. with that said, if you train to failure each and every single set and due to the body being able to adapt, it will be like "regular" training so nothing is special about it anymore. basically use the failure technique sparingly.
I'd be knackered after the warm up.
some lifters like it to feel the floor. the heel is lifted giving a stronger press and the sole is wider. giving stabilty
New to the gym but heard people have achieved great results from this routine. Legs are my particular weak point so would it be acceptable just to do these exercises instead of the video?
Squats
Leg press
Leg extensions
Hamstring curls seated and lying
Deadlift
Calve raises
@EricChinkLee Dorian's explained many times why he didn't do free squats. 1) His body gives out before his quads do 2) He's got long legs vs body, and geometrically this can be a problem with heavy weight.
world class traiining
Thanks for the post :)
@MrSpenc3r because for some of us, we where not built for the barbell squat....some of us cant put the tension on the quads while doing squats with the barbell.....thats why we do other squat variations, such as the hack squat or machine squats or front squats....think outside of the box! good mornings? good mornings....lunges? no need if you go to failure on your squat variation
It's cool seeing a young kris gethin
I believe Dorian to be without a doubt the most Intelligent body builder for his time and now in sarnies time it was Frank zane
he's doing legs, thats the best thing to wear.
This is what separated Dorian from most other bodybuilders
I love these videos the music is cool too
It also depends on what you train for. You can certainly traing legs for power successfully!
he is great.
Awesome workout , thanks
This gym looks amazing
@MrLozoz it is true that there are others with a physique better than him and that his form is really sloppy but i like his hard working personality
no need for knee-wraps if you don't lock out. Shouldn't be locking out anyway, takes the tension off the muscle
Absolutely torturing the boys... “alright that was quads, now on to hamstrings” - haha!
Never thought to hit legs in boots and cargo shorts lmao
lol I love the video description, specially because i do have toothpick sized legs :(
Its an individual thing. Some guys use the leg press for 30 years and don't get any problems. Others such as yourself may use proper form and still injure yourself with the exercise. It depends on the individual. The leg press won't necessarily give you tendinitis.
Dorian just one more Yates
Only 2-3 sets ?
dorian and kris have some funny moments in this training series
you can do a one legged horizontal leaping lunge if it wokrs for you
Leg Training - High Definition
Chest and Biceps - 240p shit quality
Bodybuilding.com is trolling us!
my gym dont have a hack squat machine so Im doing smith squats, I like them a lot more then regular one
the warm up looks insane ! lol
Some of the stretches are yoga stretches.
What is this song it's amasing !!??
TheSmrdla always wonder... fucking insane pump!
*amazing
Legs are made more for endurance rather than power. They carry you around all day long :)
Chris is a scary dude. is he a bodybuilder? not only hes strong, his form is way better than most of the bodybuilders.
@TheLeilisa in the heavier class, 202 + , id say the smallest is probably around 5'6" and the tallest is probably around 6'5"
@Nataliaa13B the best advice i can give it to you is check w/ the doctor. i have never heard something like this. always check with your doctor if something bizarre things happen. hope everything is ok
approx 5 hours ago, trained chest, did normal, incline and decline bench press and finished off with incline and normal flies and pullovers. Last time i trained legs was yesterday, did fron and back squats, then some leg extensions and curls and some calf raises. finished off with some step-squats(i dunno the english name for this excersise).
how bout ya?
I like how dorian gives you this false sense of hope that you've got 1 more rep to go then after that rep BAM! 1 MORE and then BAM another 1 after that. haha bait and switch. All jks aside great respect for the master of intensity
More. One more? See you then! Haha that was cool
The big nastttty
Leg training separates the men from Johnny Bravo
it has so few views it didn't even show up in the delts triceps sidebar. i had to search to find it ..
I would kill to have a training session with Dorian.
It’s far easier to pay 😂
I'm a little confused. So he's only doing 3 working sets for quads? Seems a little shallow to me?
Thats all you need .more doesn't mean getting big.
LOVE IT GREAT WORK💪💯👍♥LUCKY SOAL TO BE IN THE GYM WITH THE GREATEST WHO WHEN SAW HIM AND STUDIED HIS STORY IN MUSCLE &FITNESS IN 1 YEAR DOUBLED MY GAINS FROM HIS HIT WORK OUTS THANKS FOR SHARING TOP NOTCH WORK GOD BLESS YOU AND THE FAMILY FRIENDS AMD TEAM AMEN🙏💯👍💪🌟👊
Had a trainingpartner who did MMA and trained weights like crazy. He could keep up with me in the gym on every day... Then we did legs... After 5 exercises he told me to fuck off... Like Dorian said; Leg training seperates the men from the boys.
"Deep and BLOOOOOOOOOOOOW!" That's what she said.
4:28
@Beqpe
part 2 doesn't include leg presses. Only hamstrings and calves.
Didnt expect a bodybuilder to stretch like a sprinter or football player.
knut sent me here
@TheLeilisa awesome, im about 6ft....i was around 5'7 in high school then started doing deadlifts and squats, and boom i started growing! lol
Dorian is a fucking boss!
makes Me Want To Go Do Legs !
both actually
squats are a great exercise but i think dorian said he doesnt like them alot because they stress the lower back. Hack squats are a great exercise. i like them better then leg press and there probably about as good as regular squats. there also alot safer then regular squats because if you fail its not a big deal, you dont have 300 pounds crushing you into the ground
nice quarter reps on the leg press
@Sambo8000
You do what works for your body. You might be new at lifting weights which is when you can hit body parts more often, but when you are bigger and have more muscle, you will need longer to recover. I only do one body part a week. I tried doing my chest twice a week once and I wasn't making any gains and I didn't have anywhere near the same power as when I would just do it once a week. Hitting body parts once a week has been around for ages because it works. Back/chest same day.....?
Hack squats but no barbell squats - dorian has stated he has never been a huge advocate of traditional back squats because he feels they are too dangerous to go to complete failure on
Where is part 2
10 minutes....too much for you? love it! there is a reason why 10 and not 5! duh!
in my gym if i max on leg extension machine i get failure on 25 rep so should i do that ? if not what can i do insted of that please somebody answer me
till failure so if thats failure do it
Iam going to try this out definitly as I am finding really hard to go to gym everyday and failure each and every set.
why is he making them do only one failure set per exercise? I was told that every set should be failure or at least close to failure..Can anyone plz explain it to me>
