That first spot on himmols I actually use a lot for in clan wars and advances, put a cheiftian there and lol.
Also Steve about st-2 if you aim at your own tracks and angle the corner at the enemy is pretty good

You can indeed; not sure about other internal modules, but I have been ammo racked by fall damage before. It's not common, but is possible.
