I think they try to be strict in this tournament but not with consistency. It is bit frustrating to watch. I'd wish there are 1-2 warnings before penalty. That Alex toss is surely not straight but not the worst one in this watch.
The problem is the rule... Umpires are strict with the vertical toss because it's easy to spot for them, but it's not an advantage for the player to toss like that... But hidden serves can't be spotted as easily so they are not penalized, therefore they give a big advantage for the server It's good that umpires are more strict but now ITTF change those absurd rules..
Ok so throw might be at 35 degrees rather than the commonly accepted 30 degrees max. But then what does it change. He's not throwing his ball into his racket, he's not imparting spin with the free hand, not hiding the ball during the descent, ball contact is visible... those rules are just too complex to enforce and must change. Let's add some height to minimal throw so we ensure it's always globally thrown in upwards motion, even when it's not a straight launch. Enforce visibility of ball contact (which means having a ref, cam or ai system that can actually check the serve from the pov of the receiver). Use ai/tech to ensure ball is hit behind the baseline. Those shaky rules have created debate for too long
Walka była, ale Alexis kapitalnie był dysponowany. Parę razy świetnie przechodził z obrony do ataku.
The umpires are right. i really like alexis style etc, but to be true, the ball isnt thrown vertically enough.

Both great performance, but today Alexis was better, good job Miłosz ❤
There's much worse though. Many Asian players are hiding their serves. And then there's Ovtcharov, causing hindrance at nearly every stroke ...
1:10 what happened here?
He took revenge on Simon Gauzy. 😁
Alexis était pressé.
I said weak mental, throw blade in 2 set already omg
50% of Lebrun's serves were against the serving rules.
Faulted, then proceeds to do the same thing.
Tym razem Redzimski został spakowany
Zero walki. Deklasacja

@@Bartek2211r Ja to trochę inaczej widziałem.
