- Wearing the right mask matters now more than ever, and there’s good news - they can be worn longer than you might think. Dr. Jack Caravanos from NYU’s school of public health says an N95 mask offers the best protection against the Omicron variant, and can be worn about a week before disposing of it. KN95 masks are also good for five days of use, and even longer if you disinfect them with hot steam. But cloth masks aren’t going to offer much Omicron protection, according to a new study.
Well duh of course a medical grade mask is better than a cloth mask or a simple surgical mask

The pores in an N95 can block 95% of all particles 5mm and larger. The virus from SARS-COV2 measures in at 50-70 nanometers- smaller than millimeters. Do the math and save some lives. Our CDC is tripping! A 3-layer cloth mask (washable and reusable)
that is adjustable to close gaps (metal nose strip, adjustable ear tabs) under a face shield is best. The only better protection is to stay home!

How do you not believe mask don’t work? I legit wore a mask all of last year and when COVID broke and DID not get sick! Not a cold or anything! So they do work! I just got sick, but it was just a normal cold ( AZ weather change). But mask do work
The N95’s and KN95’s need to be prioritized for people working in health care. When Covid started, there was a shortage of them for doctors, and the prices for them went up. General public should just wear a good mask where they need it and go about their day, easy as that
there is an abundance of N95s and KN95s, more than enough for health care workers and citizens. it is no longer april 2020.
Do you know what the government should do? Mail masks to ALL of us, if it is required to wear them again. Also, the funny thing is, when the government was showing us what masks to wear, the directions on the surgical mask box that they said to wear specifically say "not to be used for pandemics or any virus." Omicron has ravaged through my area like crazy, my entire family, friends and workplaces have come down with it this last month, the doctor said 90% of his patients testing for covid have the omicron variant.. but I honestly I think this is a great thing, it’s much more mild so we should just let everyone get it to have immunity and then we can move on from this weird stage in life

Agreed. Everytime I breathe out through my nostrils, the air reflects back into my eyes. And when I close the entrance near my eyes by pinching the metal strap, I feel like I'm being suffocated by not taking much air in.

I've been working throughout the entire "pandemic " I never hear people bring up the fact that everyone you work with is constantly having to touch their mask to re-adjust, followed by touching surfaces that other workers touch (after adjusting their mask). Doesn't that pretty much facilitate mouth to mouth contact? Or am I crazy in pondering this?
Touching a mask isn’t the same as fingering your mouth.

Cupping your hands together can also hold water, therefore, you can cup your hands over your face holes in lieu of a N95 mask.

and I imagine you followed virus containment protocols much more stringently than 95% of the general public.

My brother tested positive for covid, but weird thing is even after helping him, playing video games with him, and eating with him, I tested negative. Thankfully he didn't have many symptoms. The vaccines have helped us, but I can't afford the good masks. I'll stick with the cheap ones lol.

Yup, same here. Dust filter under the n95 (its smaller so it fits in and acts as another layer of filtration) and sometimes ill put a surgical mask over all that, I wear disposeable gloves, dont pick up anything until after disinfecting, and still managed to get it

I support all the mask wearing but if water can’t penetrate them, not much oxygen will either.
I wear a kn95, 16hrs, 5-6days/wk for most of 2 yrs. My oxygen saturation is 99-100%, meaning my body is getting enough oxygen. I am on my feet most of the day and my breathing is fine. I only get winded when I try to talk too much, which I tend to be even without a mask. So I can assure you, you'll survive nicely.

Same here nobody in my family caught Covid in 2020 or 2021. We didn’t even believe it was that serious until I got it 2 days ago I got all the symptoms. Body aches, chills, headache, and a sore throat. Here me out when I say this this variant is coming for everyone especially if you live in LA it’s everywhere here I don’t even know where I got it from. I’m fully vaccinated really healthy young 24 years old thinking I will never get this virus. Then again I never wore a mask to work I learned my lesson the hard way. Mask up people
