Peter Davison has gone on record saying out of all the stories he filmed as the 5th doctor: this, The Visitation, and Caves of Androzani are his favorite
Peter Davison has also stated Earthshock is among his favourite stories during his tenure and he always said the dreaded Cybermen are his favourite enemies

Quite a coincidence as I’ve just watched this one in the last ninety mins! I’d not opened the blu ray season 19 set til a few days ago, still in its cellophane. But opened it this week, watched the previous stories, and some of the extras. So, earthshock this afternoon, and I thought it was as brilliant as it ever was. I set the optional FX too, but didn’t really notice them whilst watching, so I don’t know what was different. Perhaps it was just the beams from the guns. Well, perfectly paced four part story, what I loved was the true sense of jeopardy throughout. Threat after threat, and of course the shock ending too. For me personally, absolutely top twenty of all time dr who, perhaps even top ten. A real big hitter. ❤
“ You’ve checked for booby traps. I’m not in the mood to argue. “ “ The Earthlings have broken in. They are too late. “ “ How much longer before activation? One minute. “ “ Master detonator engaged. “ “ What’s happening? Our signal is being jammed. More powerrrrrrrr!! “ “ There was power in that circuit! “ “ Full power. We proceed towards the destruction of Earth. “

I wish he'd added Frontios. The characterisation of the Doctor was brilliant in that.
Such a tense yet simple scene and that’s why it shines.
This is absolute gold - which is unfortunate for Cybermen!
Saw what you did there
Mr. Fribble is very cross with you.
Earth Shock is dark. Very dark. But I do agree with most it's in the top 10 best Doctor Who stories of all time.
This is brilliant stuff! And Earthshock generally, brilliant! Top 3 Dr Who stories in my opinion, with The Caves of Androzani and Inferno.
Cyber leader playing with his hands so cute
What happen?
Somebody set up us the bomb...!
One of the best stories ever. Doc Five is awesome.
Back when The Doctor didn’t need the Sonic Screwdriver to save the day.
One of my favourite Doctor Who/Cybermen stories.
Anyone else notice that in a couple of shots of the bomb they forgot to remove the TARDIS tools?
yeah that's cutting in shots of it from later and either not noticing, or hoping we won't, that it's got that gear on it 😆

Davison is magnificent in this.
I love Earthshock
MORE POWER!!! HURRRRRY!!!
Brilliant story
WE PROCEED TOWARDS THE DESTRUCTION OF EARTH!! 💪
Earthshock was the first time audience saw a companion died poor Adric😥😥😥😥😥😥
First time was Katarina in The Daleks' Master Plan, over 16 years prior.
@@kurukurushuffle oh year I forgot about that thanks for reminding me 👍👍👍👍👍

it was the first time people enjoyed seeing a companion die ;)
What an insufferable git that character was ...

I like the doom laden music of this story.
