      I agree that it would be great to see her stick it to all of the jealous ones by leaving and plunging the WNBA back into obscurity, but I believe her deal with Nike is over the span of 8 years if I'm remembering right. I don't know what the contingencies of that deal is, or if she needs to remain in the WNBA for it. I don't know if the deal still stands if she moves to another league. Either way, we can probably safely assume that the deal is contingent upon her playing basketball throughout that timeframe or at least the majority of it. If anyone has more details on that, I'd be curious to know.

    Clarke is only averaging less than Sabrina and plum because her coach is holding her back from shooting her shot. Dictating her shots are wanting her to shoot long twos instead of the threes that she has known for. She’s trying to dictate the threes to be close to the line and Clarke is clearly more comfortable creating space out further than that.

    Diana Taurasi went to a college jam-packed with All Americans. It would be fair to say that UConn could've won the WNBA championship every year that they won the NCAA. Now there's no doubt that Diana Taurasi is a great player, but if she was on a team like Iowa, she wouldn't have gone to the Finals, especially two years in a row. The real problem with the WNBA is that women rarely support other women. They're usually too busy trying to tear them down. And, if they think that you are on top of the world, they get nastier.

    Sides is deliberately sabotaging Clarks game an her rookie year stats . Because she could break every record . If Sides let Clark play her game she would shoot more than 11 shots a game and would be fighting wilson for leagues top shooter.

    • @HungryH1951
      @HungryH1951 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sides cannot have that. She want's every player to have 10 pts. Equality. I wonder how Larry Bird would have liked playing for a coach like her.

    • @ShootinStrate
      @ShootinStrate 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Poor team chemistry. Sides appears to be tamping down Clark’s game to keep a gunner like Kelcy Mitchell and former #1 pick Boston happy. U of Iowa recognized that the team’s offense ran through Clark, and it was a team effort that landed them in the NCAA finals two years in a row with much less talent than many of their opponents. They embraced Caitlyn and rallied around her.
      The analogy of Larry Bird is a good one. He was drafted by a 20 win team. The coach allowing him to be Larry Bird, and teammates recognizing and accepting his greatness made them a 60 win team and NBA champions. The WNBA is a sad place. Grown women proving to the world every one of the stereotypes about jealousy, passive-aggressiveness, and bullying we witnessed in our middle school cafeteria, right there at the mean girls table. Show some character and class. Don’t tear down someone better than yourself. Trying to diminish the great ones does not make you one bit better. Work hard to elevate yourself to their level and see how good you really are.

    It is truly Unfortunate that one of the all-time great WNBA players, Diana Taurasi, a first-ballot Hall of Famer, will be remembered for making rather Self-Serving statements . . . which may get her into the WNBA Hall-of-Shame. The statistics in this video make clear that if play on the court is what qualifies members of the U.S. Olympic Team then Caitlin Clark is just as qualified as other members selected for the team. Taurasi's claim that her qualifications to be a member on her first Olympic Team was because she was a collegiate athlete that won 3 consecutive National Championships. True, but as you point out, she was in a program that would go on to win 11 National Championships . . . and was on a team with many other talented players, while Caitlin Clark took a team of unknown players to the Final Four twice, as well as last year's National Championship Game . . . while setting the All-Time Scoring Record in Collegiate Basketball surpassing "Pistol Pete" Maravich's 3667 points. Her statistics in college was better than Taurasi's, and is better at this point in the season. You would think that someone who already has 5 Olympic Gold Medals would give others an opportunity to represent their country . . . or, at least, be humble enough not to brag about her accomplishments or put another player, who is just trying to be the best WNBA professional she can be, down. I believe the Olympics started as an international peaceful competition among amatuer athletes to share goodwill amongst the different cultures of the world. When did this become just about winning? If we want to show our goodwill, sportsmanship, and cultural values to the rest of the world, I think Caitlin Clark has represented her city, state, and country as well as we would want all members of our entire U.S. Olympic Team to do. I join with the many other voices in the Country stating this was a lost opportunity . . . not only to grow women's basketball around the world, . . . the WNBA, . . . but to show all the young girls (and boys) in the world what can happen when you put in the hard work to follow your dreams. Diana Taurasi had that opportunity 5 times already. Caitlin Clark could have reached so many more this year. Who's to say she will have the same reach 4 years from now? That is the lost opportunity the WNBA, the U.S. Women's Olympic Basketball Team selection committee, and we as a Country are responsible for.

    Terasi: "There's a learning curve in the WNBA and Clark will find out."
    Clark standing at #2 in the league in rebounds, 4th in assists (3rd in APG), 1st in steals and 3rd in 3 pointers made.
    Fastest rookie in WNBA history to total 200 points, 75 rebounds, and 75 assists while, through her first 15 games in the WNBA, Clark has already faced off against 14 former All-Defensive players.
    Five 20-point, five-rebound, and five-assist games.
    All this while having all other players hate her, refs, her coach and teammates against her.
    ....Either she IS THAT good or the learning curve Terasi is talking about isn't that steep.

    Interesting that all players that have been on a championship team like to say “I won a national championship.” I thought a team was 5 players. Did she take the floor alone? A real comparison can only be made if they were both given the same team and circumstances. But since that can never happen, it’s all a bragging game. Did every player on the USA team win championships? Not saying CC should or shouldn’t have been on the team, but that “I won a championship” claim is bogus.

Caitlin Clarke has those and she is credited with raising Iowa's team to play in 2 nat'l title games. She is an asset that elevates the team's game. That's the kind of players need on team USA.

    The US has _never_ taken olympic basketball seriously at all. They think that they can send their second or third row and still get the gold - and for a long time this worked. But the field has gotten stronger and while the US is still a very strong contender, it's not an automatic gold anymore. Especially if you don't send your best.
    But I guess if you're "world champion" by beating the teams just in your league - why bother, right?

    0:38 In my last year of football, the coaches were recording our 40 yard dash times, an average of 3 attempts. They told us that anything under 5 seconds was top tier. I was a stocky linebacker, but I decided to put my all in that first dash and I actually got 4.89. The coaches were amazed. But I pulled something in my back trying to increase my strides, so the next two times were the lowest on the whole team and my average got destroyed, something like 5.6 seconds. I totally think Caitlin should be on the Team USA. She's great. BUT, comparing their averages is like comparing first run me, to final average me, no? Because the other one's average was measured over many more years?
