You could also do a one by one rib on the top bed by putting one needle out of action and doubling up on the length and folding it over. Less yarn too I guess . What do you think?
Will have a look. Could do that with four needles, use the loops to create surface texture with yarn like Aran. Use the latch tool crochet. Some of the shiny or glitter yarns are expensive. Working on the completed garment, will make it cheaper to use by inserting top yarns.

You could try eBay, depending on how old the machine is. China does make needles for the knitmaster and brother knitting machines. Research the make and check for any numbers. You may have to purchase another machine for needles. Like I say it depends on the make and how old it is. 😀
