Used to hate everything cartridge converter (it's my only exposure for starter pens), tried eye dropper and piston fillers (2yrs later) and I've now changed my tune and claim cartridge converters are the best fountain pens.

I know what you mean. I appreciate the easy cleaning of a converter, and I'm rarely too bothered about ink capacity

Yes,my tastes in pens has changed over the years. My affection for broader nibs has certainly grown.
There are so many avenues to explore in the pen world, one could spend a lifetime and loads of money refining one's preferences.
I share your feelings about demonstrator pens and could never see the interest in swirly, sparkly ,multi-colored materials.
Thank you for showing The Rosetta!
My tastes in pens are heavily influenced by pecuniary restraints.

I'll probably cover some other taste changes in future ramblings, such as nib grade etc. I'm sure I would have many more Onotos if I had a lottery win 😂

It's fascinating to me, how our preferences in fountain pens change over time. Nibs that we once thought were great, no longer seem to be that good of an experience. But that's true of any hobby or life activity. We grow and learn. I do love the 9019. That's a great writing pen. I'd rather the ink window be covered by the cap, as well. Does your Moonman have the Moonman or Bock nib? If you want to fall in love with a demonstrator, buy an Asvine V200. I once though I didn't care for demonstrator pens. Now I have nine of them; different brands.

I'll pick up the Asvine at some stage, I'm waiting for a price drop or an offer somewhere.
I got the Moonman with a Moonman nib, but it was garbage, so I put a Kaigelu nib in which is lovely

I share your opinions on demonstrators and the Jinhao 9019 and 9016 pens are okay as demonstrators because their cartridge converters are mammoth sized and have been tastefully trimmed to match the pen. The largest pen taste evolution I've had is with nibs. I started with medium nibs, migrated to extra fine and now find I favor fine nibs when they are wet writers. The only demonstrators I own are Chinese (or Taiwan)-made.

My nib taste has also changed over time....perhaps the subject of a future video
