    This is one of those rare substance-over-style reviews, simply fantastic! One thing I'd like to add, Grand i10 doesn't come with ISOFIX child seat mounts on any of the trims. Also, it needs a top-end auto trim like other cars in its segment but I guess it's too late for Hyundai now as the new gen (Grand) i10 will come next year.

    I do get around 13-14.5 kmpl , the lack of a dead pedal and ABS in the car is a glaring omission by Hyundai! I changed the headlight bulbs to Osram Nightbreaker LASER as the stock ones were pathetic. Just a few inputs from another owner.

    If there is any update on your Grand i10 AT, please make a video. Cost of transmission replacement done under warranty and the actual cost of transmission or parts changed. Time take to change the transmission. How is the car like to drive now etc. It will really help us make an informed decision before purchase. Thank you once again.

    • @SujoyShivde
      @SujoyShivde  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes. Car drives nice and smooth again, without any jerks. Enjoying the driving experience again. Transmission replaced under warranty, but had to push the company and dealership multiple times to process the same. Listed part cost is about Rs. 3.5 Lakh rupees as printed on the box and is imported from Korea. Transmission changed within a day.
      Mileage has improved since the last two months. Got 12 km/l on the last two tanks in mixed traffic conditions with AC on. Engine is nice and smooth with Fully Synthetic Oil I used last service.
      Steering still is moody. Sometimes perfect, sometimes too heavy and sometimes pulls. Working on a video to display this issue and few fixes.
      Current ODOMETER is 9699kms (17th November 2018)

    New Hyundai i10 grand nios is best in segment because it has more leg room at the rear passenger seat, good looking interior, it as more features than the other cars in this segment, engine is quiet refined and smooth. It has exciting features like wireless charging first in the segment, rear AC vents and many more. It is also the best city car and stable in highways. Value for money package.

    Well, some might may say I am crazy I i prefer driving pleasure over some not so necessary features.
    I am a previous Grand i10 owner but I seriously disliked its super light steering. NVH is just great upto 3000-3500 rpm, above that, The engine sounds very harsh.
    I had issues with the wipers, alignment and AC from the First week itself

    Hey champ, firstly, Great video. Well done.
    I was in dilemma buying an automatic mostly for city travel.
    Booked the santro sportz automatic - for 6.65 lkh on road last week.Add 15k rear sensor camera. Would be around 6.8 lkh.
    Was little let down by the lag. Found some slight lag/jerk in the first two gear transmissions.
    Found that there is an ongoing cashback for grand i10 sportz automatic. Would be 7.8 lkh on road. Test drove both back to back.
    Found some lag in santro during transmission. May be cos of the AMT. But the grand i10 was butter smooth. Really smooth transition that you don't feel any lag or jerks.
    Hence planning to go for it.
    i10 Vs santro : Found the seating in santro better. The turning radius is smaller in santro. But the driving pleasure is much better in grand i10.
    I am aware of the low fuel efficiency. And the wanting for more gears in highway. But considering I would drive less on a highway and at a speed of 80kmph( may be max at 95kmph on an empty lane) it may not be an issue.
    At this pricing, I do not see any other option I have? What are your views? Anything you would want me to be wary of? Any help appreciated.

    • @SujoyShivde
      @SujoyShivde  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So coincidentally I've driven the Grand for 560kms in the last few days and here's what I have to say! Both times I had 3-5 passengers on board and AC was always running high at 3-4 Speed.
      1. PUNE TO Mahabaleshwar - 120kms one way and includes two steep ghats.
      2. Pune to Alibag - 140ish Kms one way and includes one ghat and rest is an expresshighway.
      So the Grand i10 can comfortably be driven at 80km/h with a moderate foot. For test sake, I've been driving her at 110-120km/h and the ride was still very planted on straight line segments, with the engine idling at 3.5k RPM.
      Power never felt inadequate on flats but was occasionally inadequate in Ghats with AC running high. Using Tiptronic Manual mode helped a lot in Ghats and highways also! I always used it downhill and stayed in 3 for better pickup and results were great!
      Car did not brush anywhere when driven over bad breakers slowly and that was a great thing. Brakes were nice and firm throughout the journeys but sometimes the Pedal offers a different feel than other times (mine is a Non ABS car)
      Now mileage on these highways was 15.3 km/l when driven patiently at 80km/h. When driven aggressively it gave not more than 12km/l on ghat and highways respectively.
      The long journey gave me a slight lower back pain but it can be fixed with a small cushion.
      Coming to the city usage, gearbox is very smooth. No doubt. The AMT is no match for this gearbox hands down. City fuel Effiencies for me are about 9-11km/l but the drive is pretty comfortable.
      Just one strong observation, the steering wheel on my car seems to have a bad module and there are a few other members on sites like TEAM BHP which have had specific Grand i10 and Xcent Steering issues like Suddenly becoming heavier than normal, occasionally pulling left or right, even though tyre allignment has been deemed perfect. Other than that, I'd definitely recommend the Grand to you, it offers far more features compared to Sportz AMT like an Extra airbag, camera alloys and its overall a very stylish car! Any other questions welcome. :)

    Does it work seamlessly at uphill stop and go in auto mode. I m here at Bangalore and a little bit concerned that whether the vehicle will roll backwards as there are more uphill roads than any other major city in India

    • @SujoyShivde
      @SujoyShivde  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Works seamlessly as this is a Torque Converter Gearbox. Doesn't roll back at all on even 45° slopes and still the car wants to creep ahead.
      But it's always recommend to assist the transmission with the use of a handbrake if you have to face even steeper slopes.

    • @SujoyShivde
      @SujoyShivde  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sesham Anand Hello sir. The mileage on the Automatic is really low. What initially was between 10-11 Km/l is now realistically 9km/l in increased heavy traffic. Yes, comfort and convenience wise it's a very good car to take to office. It's a quiet cabin, good ac, safe enough in the city. But Low Mileage and Inconsistent Steering feedback are cons I cannot ignore about this Automatic car. For better city mileage and great driving expetience, I'd recommend you look at a CVT Automatic like Baleno which is available in Multiple Trims in CVT or the Jazz CVT, depending on your budget. More questions welcome doctor.

      @@SujoyShivde If reliability is a concern then nothing can beat an old school 4-speed Torque Converter. Jatco makes CVTs for Nissan, Suzuki and many other companies and they are definitely not as reliable as TC-ATs. Thank you very much for the insightful information. A really honest review. But as per your review any fully Automatic car is costly to maintain post warranty. But still TC-AT is a very reliable one in the Grand i10. You must watch this 👇🏻

I meant to imply a Fully Automatic Car would be tough and expensive to repair if something went wrong after the vehicle ran out of warranty as technical knowhow is very pathetic here in India and I experienced this right now when I had to convince Hyundai my gearbox was jerking and needed to be replaced. • @SujoyShivde
      @SujoyShivde  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've only briefly driven the new Swift but here's why I'd still buy an i10 over the Swift. :-
      1. i10 feels built heavier while Swift feels too light.
      2. i10's TC Gearbox is Buttersmooth Vs a Jerky and stuttering AMT in the Swift.
      Why I Could Possibly Choose Swift :-
      1. Better mileage since it's built lighter.
      2. Handling and driving dynamics of the Swift might be perceived better by some drivers.
      Some other points as today ODO stands on 12500 kilometres :-
      1. i10 Automatic isn't super quick but offered great stability on Expressways at even 120km/h with 4 Passengers on board.
      2. Mileages aren't that great, but there's no jerking that you'll feel in the gearbox, but the engine doesn't feel that smooth under heavy acceleration. City Mileages in the Automatic are 9-11 km/l considering traffic and upto 14km/l on highways with a very light foot.
      3. AC is a chiller but hisses.
      So bottom line for me would be to see what fits better in your budget and to choose your priorties. If you want mileage, hands down a Swift is better. If you want the comfort of a smooth gearbox and engine, then pick the i10 but mileage is a bit lower than the other vehicle. Do let me know if you have any queries.

    • @SujoyShivde
      @SujoyShivde  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sir the Ignis is also a good car for a first time buyer, but the features you get obvious depend on your budget and variant. Following are subjective good and bad points in my opinion :-
      The GOOD:-
      1. Very smooth and refined Petrol Engine.
      2. Fuel efficiency is good thanks to the AMT and light weight of the vehicle.
      3. Good space.
      4. Reliable service and maintenance.
      5. Has almost all necessary features depending on the variant.
      The BAD:-
      1. Build is lightweight and doesn't assure max safety.
      2. AMT transmission is a practical gearbox for higher efficiency but doesn't offer smooth and fun of driving.
      3. The Ignis Steering lacks feedback and feel in general and this is highlighted on highways.
      The Grand i10 Automatic is better in some of these aspects! Hope this helped.

      But buying the Tiago or Tigor AMT would definitely yield higher mileage. Build quality of recent Tata Cars has been pretty good too. Do assess your primary driving conditions and the features you're getting for the price and that'll help the purchase decision.

      FluidicJoy! Very true I was on the lookout for a diesel auto too cos I wanted to replace my fathers ageing 15 year old Santro and so was on the lookout for a car for him to drive essentially, as I work abroad. I reckoned an auto will be better for him to drive as he’s 77 now. But sadly no diesel auto. For me when I come to India, I have a lot of running so diesel was a must, so I was forced to go for a diesel manual, but after buying it I’m so happy. One particular run of 250 km the car gave me a whopping, unbelievable 29.4 kmpl. Imagine !!

    • @monishthomasp

      @monishthomasp 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      FluidicJoy! Also the Diesel engine displacement now stands at 1186 cc as against the earlier 1120 or something. It has bumped up the power to 75 from 70 and Torque from 160 to 190 - which doesn’t look like much on paper but the car goes like stink esp., when you want to overtake. It’s fun to drive in addition to being fuel efficient. All in all, a nice combination.

    Hey....nice video
    We are planning to buy grand i10 AT by end of this year And i have few questions?
    1 . Which is worth to buy magna/ sportz.
    2. Which is better dealer ? Pcmc or pmc?
    3. Do i hav another option in same segment? If i change my mind? Nissan micra or brio?
    4.Any other tips before you buy from dealer for discounts and things to check ?.

    • @SujoyShivde
      @SujoyShivde  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sir I believe the Sportz AT has almost everything you'd need in a city car most features prove to be a boon to me on daily basis :-
      1. High Quality Factory Fit Reverse Camera (HUGE saviour!)
      2. Android Auto and CarPlay are useful for highway trips.
      3. Style quotient of Sportz AT is higher than Magna AT and those alloy wheels and DRLs look amazing in this vehicle.
      4. But from a practical point of view, Magna AT has almost all of the safety and essential features minus some extra convenience features which the Sportz has.
      5. Do haggle the dealers for huge discounts as they are available and make buying the Grand a good choice.
      About dealership, I've had good experiences with almost all of Hyundai Dealers in Pune with good personal relations in all of these outlets. I purchased my vehicle from Sanjay Hyundai, as their Discounts and On-Road price was the cheaper by a good 15-20k when I bought my car, but their workshop seemed a little chaotic and far for me in Bhosari, and so I service my cars with Kothari Hyundai, with whom I have excellent experiences with both at Satara Road, Kharadi and Kondhwa. So, I'd say buy where you get the best deal, and servicing can be done at any dealer of your choice, without fear!
      My opinions about other options in this same price bracket :-
      1. Brio - Too outdated for 2018 and almost as expensive as the Grand, but offers substantially lower space and features, but is small and more fun to drive than the i10.
      2. Micra CVT - Again a better car to drive than the Grand i10. Very smooth gearbox and the top model XV(O) CVT has most of the essential features, but priced considerably higher than the Grand i10, yet Micra is smaller and reliability of the brand and after sales in India could be a concern.

    • @SujoyShivde
      @SujoyShivde  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, since Hyundai made changes to the Grand i10 multiple times in 2018, make sure you are getting all of the features mentioned in the owners manual and ensure you have a October or later manufactured Grand i10.
      If they offer you an older 2018 manufactured model, be sure to haggle for a HUGE discount and check what it doesn't have. E.g My 2017 car didn't have ABS, but I got DRLs. Then in early 2018, DRLs were discontinued but ABS was reinstated. Now again, DRLs are offered in Sportz model, so do check that you are offered the most recent product. Do a proper VIN number check :)

      Ignor has a 5 speed one unit and i10 has a 4 speed unit
      On highway it feels that 1 more gear would be better
      Better average than i10
      It only doesn't sell out i10 is bcoz of new design which Indian market doesn't like much
      It only likes "hexagonal grills" And not some new design language
