I watched this twice, not because I didn't understand it, but because I wanted this to sink into my head. It looks complicated , but its not. I will try it and see if I retained what I should. If not, I will watch it again. Its different and I like it.
Hi Ronda! This "Mixed Media Fabric, Lace, & Paper Journal 'How To' Video Part #1 {pages}" from 4-15-17, video is great! I loved watching as you collected your fabric scrapes to put together your page composition. { You have some great fabric stash there Ronda! I could spend half the day looking at all those nice fabrics, wonderful laces, etc. that you have there in your stash! Yes, I'm sure that I would really love doing that! } Your "collage" fabric and paper pieces worked so well together! I especially liked the addition of the sheet music to the mix. I also really liked the lace "flip" that you created! That is too cute! Very nicely done! It was cool to see how you attached your pages together with double sided tape to go into the signature of your journal. Thank you for showing us how to do these things for ourselves. This is a great video, and you do great work Ronda! TFS Happy Crafting & Happy Creating! Samantha
It always helps to watch a process come together. Thank you making this video....YES, it has helped me. Can't wait to get to my craft room and "play"!!!
When I first saw the video with the journal I thought to myself "that's it I give up. No way could I make anything even close." Then I watched this & I realized how it's not that difficult to make something so beautiful. So thank you so much for sharing your process. I am truly inspired.
Thank you Ronda...Absolutely loved your tutorial...I have been interested in doing mixed fabric and paper journals. and now is the time. thank you again.
Your work is exquisite! Just so beautiful, i hope one day to be able to make something like this. I am at the beginning of my crafting journey and at this stage still trying to build my stash of goodies, but one day......😃 thank you so much for sharing your craft.
Oooo! I love this! The Tyvek joiner strip is brilliant! I'd been wanting to do pages like this on canvas, but couldn't puzzle out the construction- now I have the missing link! Can't wait to see more from you!
Love, love, love what you have made here. It is simply marvelous and I have to make one or two. Who knows where it will take me? Thank you for the inspiration.
Hi Rhonda, new subbie here from New Zealand. I’m so happy to have found you, and have learnt so much just from this first video. Will be binge watching and creating along. Love your style, thanks for sharing. 😘
Beautiful pages ! Thanks for sharing your process. I just subscribed and gave you a thumbs up. Will be giving your process a try. Now let me get to watching more of your video's.
Wowza Ronda, this is such a beautiful idea and what a gorgeous creation, i manages to find some tyvek and im giving this a go to make a glue book full of gorgeous images and stuff that makes me happy 😊 thank you so much for sharing your creativity
Ronda Winstead You’re very welcome. Quick question for you: could this be done with heavier weight mixed media paper instead of the sandwich bag paper? Reason I ask is because I’ve got plenty of that & don’t want to spend money on something if I don’t have to. TIA
Of course it can! I have made these journals from brown paper bags, etc. I did a series on using brown paper bags...you might enjoy taking a peek...have a great day!
I just found your videos today and I have to say that you are amazing! I absolutely love your work! So simple yet beautiful and elegant at the same time. Love it!
Ronda, this is awesome, the pages are fabulous and such a informative video. I do make fabric books but I usually use glue but I must have a try at stitching. I luv the way you incorporate lace, material and paper., and it's great that you use bags for your base pages. Thank you so much for sharing, I really enjoyed watching you create your super pages, take care Ali xx
I really enjoyed seeing your process as well as your "lalalas", etc. Your joy spills over on your videos, love that! I am a new subscriber and look forward to seeing more, beautiful pages, TFS!
Very interesting, and inspiring. Looking for something/someone to spark some interest to ignite my muse. I have subscribed, and will be looking at some of your older videos. I am impressed with your bits of lace and trim, such gorgeousness! I have odds and ends of fabric. Would love to learn tatting myself, but have not found anyone that does it. Guess I need to check out sales to pick up some trim. Really liked your instruction and demonstration. Thank you. Peace
Thanks for the tutorial...it is very creative! I would love to buy one of your journal someday!!! I don't do journal crafts..since my timing wasn't allowed. Hopefully one day I can find the time!!
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 Amazing!!!!! I don't do journaling yet for my art projects will now know how to apply vintage/antique laces (expensive hobby), yet you can perform miracles with this tutorial.
Could you put a link or words to describe where you buy these great sacks, and also I would love for you to do a tutorial on doing the eyelets and elastic cording because I am new to journaling and that would be so helpful. Thank you so much for this tutorial. Your journal pages are beautiful, and you really have an eye for a pleasing arrangement of pieces.
Debbie, they're sold as white lunch sacks I believe...grocery outlet stores, or online. I will see what I can do regards the eyelets and elastic cording when I finish a couple of time sensitive projects. Thanks for watching!
Thank you very much for sharing your process, the finished journal is absolutely beautiful ... Will have to give this a try soon... Loved your stash container's, my eye's almost fell out of my head.. lol .. That's one awesome stash you have there.. :D
Having watched thousands of journal video's over the years I love your style, I have some small matching sample fabric I can now use together using your way of page layout, I couldn't bear to separate them lol, tfs 😁👍
This is the first video of yours that I have watched. Learning that you are a quilter was pleasing for me to hear, I have long stopped quilting but many aspects of that art form has helped me with my own Paper Journey! However, my question to you is about sewing on the pieces to the paper pocket. I would enjoy seeing how you manage to do that. My curiosity is do you actually attached by sewing ALL the pieces, or do you also sew the individual pieces by themselves then attach with with Scor tape and/or wet glue? I have found doing piecing on a whole cloth (paper) is very cumbersome, as well as nearly impossible in some cases due to the restriction of the space for the throat of the machine! Seeing you attach each piece in the manner that you do it would be of great help (and possible relief of stress) to me! Thank you for sharing your journal. I assure you I will be diving into what is left of my quilting stash and adding more cloth embellishments to my own albums and journals. Very nice tutorial. Now, off to view a few more!
I appreciate your comments GJ! You are right about the limited throat space, however as I am using plyable paper (though relatively strong) and my laces and additions are mostly plyable as well, I haven't had issues with the turning and such in the stitching process. That being said, I sometimes I will stitch embellishments on to other embellishments before stitching them to my background papers. I do NOT use a wet glue ever! Too much wrinkling and I only use stick glue to tack thing down before stitching. On rare occasions where stitching isn't an option, I will use scor tape as well. My pockets have all embellishments stitched on them before attaching them to the inside cover. I may at some point do a video on that process, but in the meantime, just experiment and see what works for you? As a quilter, you will easily be able to adapt. Good luck, and thank you for watching my video!!
I now have an idea how to do this. Was wondering what would be an easier assembly than what was going thru my feeble brain. Sometimes it works and sometimes it goes into vacation mode. Thanks a bunch. Luana Jarecki.
Hello Ronda, I am unable to find the bags, can I use parchment paper instead? Or wax paper , maybe card stock? Going to give it a try, but I need to find lots of supplies!, thanks for sharing, great tutorial.
You can purchase them online...I just googled and it came up with options, but of course you may use anything you want...I wouldn't recommend wax paper...not sturdy enough...parchment paper could work nicely I think...or if you could get a hold of roll ends that they use in doctor's offices? That could also work...good luck Francine!
Hi Rhonda, Giving this a try. So Beautiful. Please advise what kind of thread you use? Also was wondering how would this work with card stock since I have stashes of it. Where do I find the tape to united the pages? Thanks for sharing this.

Card stock will give you an entirely different look and feel to your journal...if you want it to look similar to mine, I wouldn't recommend card stock...the heavier the base paper, the heavier the layers will be and the more difficulty in stitching additional laces and fabrics, papers, etc. on will be. But this is YOUR journal, so you can do whatever you want! Happy stitching Carol!
My process isn't quick...it takes me at least 30 to 40 hrs to finish a journal...but I do everything custom...I'm not in a rush to get it done and want to make sure I do it well...
I just about gave up on journals.Try painting an all kinds of mix media stuff but just no good.i watch some of your videos and really like paper and fabrics.I am on fixed income but this is really affordable.I do enjoy putting threads on materials but does everything has to be sewn or can u glue on and with what. Will keep watching your how to videos.
Thanks for watching Sue! You may sew, you may glue, it just really depends upon what you're doing? The more layers you have it might work better if it's stitched, but sometimes glue works well too...just experiment! Have a great day!
Beautiful and very clever! Was wondering how you were going to be able to insert these in a journal. Do you use one of these for a journal yourself? You leave space but am wondering about trying to write atop all the lumpiness.
I have picked up all of my music from old thrift shops/garage sales/rummage sales, etc. You might even ask friends and family to keep an eye open for such goodies...happy hunting Monica!!
I bought my bags years ago from a grocery supply outlet? I assume you can also find them easily enough online through either Ebay or PaperMart or Uline. You can buy tyvek tape from a hardware store, or you can cut up a tyvek priority envelope from the post office...one envelope should supply many many pages. Thank you for watching!!!
Found the tyvek on ebay. I ordered the smallest amount. Cost 2.99 for a piece 12" by 9 ft. If you want, I can share a piece with you. I am Luana Jarecki on facebook.

@@PolishPrincess74 Thanks for the bags location information!
Also do you sew all your projects or can glue be used?
I us a tad bit of glue, but that's mainly to adhere things in place to stitch down...I enjoy stitching vs gluing...
I can not find the double-sided tape, where can I find it? thank you
Here is the USA, I buy it at Joann's or Michael's...I would google it...maybe scrapbooking tape, or double sided tape...good luck!
