    Jerry Jones is no doubt one of the greatest owners in sports history but he is also one of the dumbest and most stubborn. Elliott's contract was a huge mistake, Pollard is a better back and deserves to be the starter. I'm not even a fan of the cowboys.

      @brandynhenry7107 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pretty mind blowing so many people still latch on that they are stars and not disposable by- products of the offensive line and fitting the scheme. Last year's super bowl RB1 who most people here can't name got released by them and then cut by another team in training camp this year 4-5 years into his career. Imagine like 26yo starting QB on a super bowl winner getting released like "nah don't need you lmao" and then he gets cut in training camp on a worse team a few months year. That alone shows you how disposable they are

Always hope the best for him, he seems to be doing good this year!

      Tbh, Zeke hasn’t really been bad since the contract. But pollard is getting more and more Carries each season. Elliott still had at least 4.0 y/a each season since. It’s obvious that he isn’t as good as his 2018 self, but I feel like pollard being added hurt Elliott’s contact cause you’re almost obligated to give him more attempts with how he played. I think Elliott’s contact is an interesting subject because his contract would probably be considered “worth it” if they never drafted Pollard. It’s safe to say the contract wasn’t worth it, but it hasn’t been a horrible return either. I feel like 5 million less than his current contract would he a fine contract.

    The worst thing about zekes contract from my understanding is the way years are guaranteed. From listening to a cowboys podcast they explained that seasons became guaranteed a year in advance unlike typical contracts which become guaranteed in the offseason once finished with guaranteed part; for example the 2021 season became guaranteed at the start of the 2020 season, the 2022 season became fully guaranteed at the start of the 2021 season. The 2023 season became guaranteed back in august. They This made sure if you moved on early you were going to get around 30 million in dead money instead of just the remaining signing bonus. Their out is at the end of 2023 which will be 11 million in dead money.
    Horrific. He’s gotten around 50 million of his contract so far but more has been guaranteed because of how it’s structured. You could see with your eyes in 2018 he wasn’t the same guy even though the stats didn’t show it yet.

Some of these guys in college will enter the league being worth $10-20m. Get ready for supersized attitude and dog shit energy/desire to be more. I think the NIL is an amazing concept, but they should get a % allocated every year through college until they either graduate, or leave college for the NFL. WR's are going to start going the way of the RB's when it comes to big FA paydays. These days, with the rules favoring offenses the way they do, teams can pick up a decent to very good WR in rounds 1-3 and milk that rookie deal until it runs out. If the guy is a stud, lock him up. If he's simply average to good, let some other team overpay and draft his replacement. FA is fools gold most of the time anyway. Teams don't typically let their foundation players reach FA until it comes time for a third contract and by then their best years are in the rearview mirror.
    As for crap deals, I'm surprised Deshaun Watson didn't make this list. All that guaranteed money? That's going to keep Cleveland in salary cap hell for a long time. And what about Kyler Murray? I don't know how much of his deal is guaranteed but a five year deal worth 230 million for an immature QB who's under six feet tall? Goff looks like a bargain against those deals. I think Lamar Jackson is going to discover he has overvalued himself as well. He wants a ton of guaranteed money and it ain't gonna happen.
    FA's are finishing pieces. So far Brad Holmes has a done a nice job not offering long-term deals with my team the Lions. Pay your guys first, then see what you can afford and what you need right now. That's his philosophy and I agree with it. I think it will pay off in the next couple years. The Lions are coming, and it's damn well about time because they have been overdue since the 1970s.

    A lot of these contracts are just bad luck (for the teams). When a young player is an all pro and one of the best at an impact position, how can you justify not paying them? If the alternative is shipping out a guy who seems likely to keep producing, you just have to suck it up and pay the guy.
    You never know how any player will perform next year, but if Zeke Elliot walsk away and puts up 1600 yards per year then yeah, that's a huge mistake.
