Sure enjoy the videos Darren. I had a good year in southern Alberta. I ordered two packages. They really went to town. Picked up a swarm too. Bought my first appamaye hive and love it. The ladies produced 5 gallons that I harvested and left the hives really heavy. I’ve never harvested honey off first year bees before. Take care Darren.
Hey Rock. Glad to hear you did well. 5 gallons is a nice haul off of two new hives. You must have some good resources around. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thanks Darren! Dennis and I always love your videos!! I’m glad you’re going to NAHBE! We’ve been every year, had plans of going this year but we just bought a Cowan uncapper, Kelly 72 frame extractor(I think it was 72,huge anyway) I think 15 hives, 170 boxes with drawn comb or foundation, 2 honey pumps and I forget what else..but I’m not sure we’ll be able to eat this month😂😂😂so still thinking about NAHBE. It was a beekeeper that orig had 4000 hives with his dad, then went down to 200 when he came down from Michigan..and now he’s retiring so we nearly stole it! Too good to turn down. But I do hope we go and will be able to meet you!
Hey Meloney. Thanks for your enthusiasm. Sounds like you got the deal of a lifetime on that equipment. That's awesome. My cousin called me this week and told me to come and get all of my uncles equipment. He passed away last year and was a beekeeper. He made a lot of his own boxes and things, so it may be a little bit off standard. Anyway, I will put it to good use, or find someone who will. Yes, NAHBE will be exciting. Looking forward to it and hopefully we will cross paths. I'm going to take a journal for people to sign so I can keep track of everyone I meet and where they are from. Have fun setting up all that new stuff!
Darren, You might consider giving all of that propolis back to the girls. I see mine collecting it off of every piece of equipment lying around the apiary. If I have to scrape some off, I just drop it down into the hive to save them all of work. 👍
Hey BZ. There's a lot of it up by my red barn where all the old frames, I need to rework, are at. There's always a few around working on those frames getting the propolis. Thanks for watching.
Hey Nancy. Yeah, if you have the opportunity, go for it. If I have a super that has a bit of honey from a weaker hive, I will put it on top of a really strong hive and let them continue to work. It's really a good flavor. Totally different. Take care.
Darren, I hope your fall harvest taste just like you like it! I’ve got a lot of frames in the brood areas that they’ve filled about half full of honey and the cappings are a pale yellow. the golden rod has been onnthe exceptional side here this year. I don’t never harvest fall.
Hey Don. Yeah, it has excellent flavor. I've heard a lot of people comment about the abundance of golden rod this year. It was so dry here, I don't think it made any nectar. I didn't see many bees on it. They didn't get on the Asters either unttil we got that heavy rain.
Hey Darren, another great season for you! That dark honey is delicious, enjoy. I have a bunch of black honey from 2022 that I sent a pound to Penn state university for a study on honey due honey from the lantern fly. Sure enough it's mainly honey due with some aster and it doesn't crystallize. I didn't get much black honey this fall, half bucket. All the other fall honey is a dark amber color and delicious. The lantern flies were bad in 2022 but haven't been an issue since, pretty interesting stuff. Have a great fall!
Hey James. Yeah, this stuff tastes really good. So strong and robust flavored. Totally different than the summer honey. I have a lot of asters around, but I don't know about honey dew or not. Fortunately we haven't had lantern fly issues here. Thanks for watching and commenting.
It's ready. I'm selling it in pints for $20 each. Only have 12 of them, so it will go fast. Message me on facebook messenger - Jerome Bee Farm & Homestead or on facebook marketplace as Darren Jerome.
Talking about that dark Honey my customer love my dark Honey. I about think I could sale a tanker load a year . This year when I lost that yard of bees that yard was my main dark honey yard but I ended up still doing pretty well in it anyway from other yards . This has surely been a odd season for sure . I was doing inspections in Monday an on one of my other yards the first two colonies I checked both was with out a queen so tomorrow I will be combining some colonies to fix that problem but have two more to check an I hope those are ok. Well I have been thinking I think you may have set your brother-in- law up on those two pissed off colony’s . LOL LOL . Have a good weekend. Thanks for the update. Thanks
Hey Kathy. Yeah, I may resuper after harvest on some more strongert colonies next year. I don't like having to feed though - that seemd to work good with the strong hives though. They still had plenty even after pulling those in the Fall. Yeah, I have people coming out of the woodwork for that dark honey. Lucky you caught those queenless before the waxmoths did. lol Sheesh, I got wax moth slammed this year. Yeah, I may have not worried too much about those mean bees and the brother in law. LOLOL. Take care.
@@JeromeBeeFarm Hello In those two other colonies I checked one had a virgin queen an I am fairly sure she is not mated an will not be this late . The last colony had a mated queen but I watched her for probably 15 minutes an never saw her lay any eggs. I decided I would give those all one more week an recheck an those that are not good I will just combine how ever I can . Thanks have a good week. Thanks
Those late queen superceeds are tough. I suspect all of my hives have kicked the drones out, probably weeks ago. Not much you can do with it. Combine it if you can, or store it safe with some paramoth or freeze the frames, because they will eat it up.
👋Great result👍 ive got nectar streaming in the door but unfortunately for me it's not the nectar i want to see coming in😬😆 thyme is ramping up and my bee's are pretty much ignoring it to hit the sycamore boom flow 😂 ill be glad of it in autumn during weight gaining season but its making me grit my teeth right now, thyme is popping open all over the place and there's hardly a bee on it, theyre all up in the blasted trees. Thats beekeeping though, you plan all year and along comes nature with a surprise. Thanks for taking time to walk over to the camera and show us the frames too, thats above and beyond the call of duty for TH-cam videos but it's interesting to see what results you have, and man, i don't know how you make these videos, edit them and beekeep 👍😃 Great video 👍👋
Hey Manuherikia. Crazy that the bees aren't hitting the forage you want them to. They must like that Sycomore better. . Yeah, I only got about 3 gallons out of those. Oh well, I'm not out for a big Fall harvest anyway, it was just a bonus. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hey Jon. I remember those three supers being completely full, so they consumed some, at least half of it. Yeah, most of the state is terribly dry. I'm lucky I go those two hard rains. Good luck.
Hey Kajun. I had some from 2018 that was almost black like that. This year it wasn't near that dark. I suspect the dry conditions kept them from normal forage late and this was collected in July. Who knows.
Lovely opening to your videos Darren , was that a wood pecker , a lot different to Uk pecker . As for your opening most hives here are only 2inch so they can guard easily all year , some times a big opening can make your hive very aggressive because they have so much to guard and old beekeeper told me .
That coyote looked pretty healthy. I usually watch your channel from my other channel. I saw a pack of coyotes at the park last week didn’t get any video tho. I started keeping bees last year I got twelve jars. But I have had lots of bad luck and learning curve mistakes. Both hives absconded last year then I caught three swarms this spring. Check out my bobcat videos I get close to them.
Hey TimeFlies. Yeah, he had his winter coat coming in. AND it's still hitting the 90's on some days here. He's probably about to burn up. Twelve Jars your first year is just fine. Don't worry about honey til at least year 2. I don't think I got a decent honey harvest til my 5th or 6th year, where I would have over 50 lbs. I thought i had an infinite supply! LOL
Hey RTX. Yeah, that's a lot of extra time and work on the beekeeper too. I really don't need more honey. I do pretty good with what I have. Thanks for the comment.

Thx for the update. The fall honey looks nice and dark, I am sure it will taste great.
Hey Kennith. Yeah it tastes great. So thick and rich flavored.
Nice to get some fall honey. I have never got any. Enjoy.
Hey Russel. It's some really good flavored honey. I put a little back for me. It goes fast once I advertise it. Thanks for watching.
He's looking for a bite and he knows you are going to get the girls riled up. Thanks for sharing Darren, Blessed Days...
Hey DC. I think he thought he could take me out. He rared up showing me his bug fists. lol Thanks for watching.
One of these years I'll have to try a small fall harvest just to taste and see!

I definitely want some of this.

During this drought mine have consumed the honey from their supers. No fall harvest this year. Hope we get some rain soon in NEOK.

Thanks for the video like always. Bee Expo will be fun this year and I think it might be your first...hope your ready
I'm looking forward to it. Yup, my first. I haven't even been to my own State meetings. lol
Our fall honey is almost black, looks like cane syrup.
That shows, it's very ripe , having stay longer in the hive than expected,,,Am frm Kenya, & I like when
