      Hey Melvin. Yeah, this swooped in from the west. I think it went on west from here. It's about 80% melted away now. I bet the bees will fly a bit today if it can get close to 50 deg. Stay warm up there!

    Good plan for 2025.
    Thank you for posting. It looks like you have been busting your behind with all your projects. You have put sooo much work into your homestead. I'm glad you got some more honey supers since you were running short last summer. 2025 will be another bumper honey crop I'm sure. I sure liked Nathan's interview with you. Nathan is such a good guy also. Have a good week.

      Hey Russell. Yeah, I've been busy. Seems I dream up more than I can keep up with. lol I should have plenty of honey supers for 2025. Hopefully I don't jinx my harvest by having too many. Nathan is a cool cat, I really like him. Since he posted that, I've gone back and started watching his VLOG from the beginning. He has some great content, and there's a few that I've missed. I need to get about half as focused as Nathan is, and I'll be doing pretty good. LOL Good luck to you in 2025.

    I need to pick up a bunch of wooden ware between now and Spring, my colonies are doing pretty well this Winter. I think I finally figured out over Wintering here in SW WA a Roof, lol. I enjoyed the Walk and Talk, ya hadn't done one for a while. You give me some the the best ideas for my garden and coop plans. Thanks Darren, Blessed Days...

      Hey DC. Yep, you're right, I haven't done a walkabout in a while. The expo got me motivated. lol. A roof over the bees is a good thing. Helps keep them cool in the summer too. I need to take a break on the projects and focus on the bees in 2025. I couldn’t let that creek watering system go though. lol. Thanks for watching!

    Enjoyed the tour of your homestead, it’s very nice to see how organized it is. We are from Yukon, now living in East Texas, but Oklahoma will always be home. It is nice to be able to see the horizon, we are surrounded by tall pine and oak trees. My employer had me in Lakewood Colorado for about 9 years, when you showed your barn, first thing I thought was a grow operation and the smell.

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hey Humbledsparrows. Thanks, we try to keep things up around here, but it's a lot of work. I'd like to get my barn more organized. When we moved out here from Moore, everything got crammed in there and we just never have culled out all the unneeded stuff. Yeah, I was wondering if that was a weed grower myself. It's a possiblity. Usually those have the HVAC units on the sides and these are in the back. They have spent a lot of money making it nice, with a retaining wall etc. I'm hoping it's a personal use and not some business. We'll see. My little trees need to grow fast! LOL Thanks for watching!

    We have those type of ferns growing wild in our woods. We also got a lot of snow in Kentucky.

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hey Tracy. Yeah, ferns will grow where there's plenty of rain. We've found some in Arkansas back in the woods before, and my wife was out there digging them up. lol She says she's going to switch out all to that bigger variety. I'm like, great, where are we going to put them all! LOL They are very pretty though. It's a ritual, in and out multiple times with my two wheeler, avoiding the freezes and getting them some sun. I have some pretty powerful grow lights in there though, just need to be sure they don't get dry. Thanks for watching and take care.

    Use the dark wax on the walls of your swarm traps if you use them to attract bees.

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hey Bill. That's a good idea. I ran swarm traps around here a couple of years and they never went in them. I trapped more wax moths than swarms. lol So I gave up. But that is a good idea. Maybe I need to put them out again. I try to stay ahead of my swarms by splitting hives that are about to swarm and move the queens out, but occasionally, one gets out. Take care.

    Maybe the neighbor built their new barn to block the view of your creek water storage tanks... In the middle of the night you can sneak inside and build a false wall inside to carve out a little space for yourself and & add a door facing your property. Think of all the bee supers you could store in there. Enjoyed the walk around & the fly by of the hives. Any back flow prevention for redundancy in the cross connection between the creek & well potable water lines? Keith / STL

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hey mocarp. Yeah, the guy that owned that land was a naturalist and kept it wild and he lived in an old trailer that used to be on my land and he drug it over there when that guy died long time ago. He was actually a friend of Karen Silkwood back in the day fighting environmental polution and stuff, I learned that from his obituary. Anyway, he died about 6 years ago and his brother got his place and mowed it with a push mower for a couple years, then sold it. It got totally buldozed out of all trees and is ruined in my opinion. They didn't save any select trees or anything, just a big flat spot and they built that barn right at the edge. It's 100 x 40 looks like and looks to be 20' tall. There's two huge HVAC units on the back and a septic system. There's workers in and out of there all the time finishing it out. I have a security system on my barn to make sure anyone who crosses over and wants to pilfer my stuff will be on camera and let me know. It's pretty secluded back there. My city main line and irrigation lines have one connection where my sprinkler system is. So I can irrigate either out of my cistern pump, or city supply. I have a check valve going back to the city, but it is possible to pressure my house with cistern water if someone was to turn the valve combination that way. I have schematics and tables documenting what valve goes where and which combination of on/off does what. I have drip systems on all of my fruit trees and four, now eight hydrants down on the lower 5 acres of my west land (where the bees are). It's hard to get a tree started around here with the hot summers and clay soil. Thanks for watching.

    @donbearden1953 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    Hey Darren! You have water lines going every direction. You’ve put a lot of work into that! I remember when you had your well drilled and didn’t hit a major stream, did you have it fracked afterward, just wondering and can’t remember. Sometimes the fracking will open up the small stream where it flows more. It’s a gamble just like drilling and I know you probably wouldn’t be interested in that now because you capitalized on its production by installing the reservoir tank. My dad owned a well drilling company and his way to frack a well was a case of Hercules Dynamite. lol Most of the time that did the trick.. We got snow too and that’s rare here in central AL.

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hey Don, Yeah, in my mind that water project was a couple days work, and it's turned into an ordeal. lol My son in law's dad retired last year from a water well service and he had all that PVC left over and gave it to me, and he's the one I bought those 500' rolls of 12 gage single strand from. It was a mix of 1 1/4 and 1", so I pieced it all together, only had one leak I had to fix before I covered it up. That was a lot of work just getting all the pipe joined and the 4 hydrants and all the cutoff valves placed, and then pressure tested it. I was in a rush to get all the water lines covered up before the cold hit. Now I have a leak formed back on my irrigation main where I put one of those expansion joints in there three years ago. I've looked into fracking that well. I sent an inquiry to a company out of Tulsa, but they never responded. With this creek supply set up, it works pretty good, until it goes dry, which isn't for long usually. With the temp setup of 500' of extension cords and water hoses, it worked that way and I didn't have any water bills over $100 this last year. Prior year I had three around $300. Keeping those gardens watered in the heat of the summer, plus the wife's flower beds, it takes a lot. That well at 150 gal/day doesn't do much towards that. Last summer, I used the creek supply mostly for the gardens and the well for the house flower beds, and the well couldn't keep up with that. About once/week I'd pump creek water into the cistern to fill it up. I'd put some bleach in there when I did that. I also supplemented it with city water a couple times too. My house supply is total city water all the time, I never change that. Stay warm down there.

    You are like me concerning “neighbors” building crap right on top of you. We are fortunate to have 160 acres and a 21,000 acre ranch across the county road and no neighbors within a mile. We also have community water and a 24,000 gallon cistern plumbed to the house, with a check valve for the community water. Take care and Happy New Year.

      Yeah, idiot people, they are everywhere. That’s quite a water tank. You must have built it on site. Water is a very valuable thing and if you have good access, that’s a blessing. We were totally secluded until that joker showed up and bulldozed the entire place and ruined it. There was a nice line of trees providing privacy that they took out to place that eyesore there. That’s cool you have that much land. Thanks for watching.

    I hope to be running a buried water line for my livestock this summer. I've had to haul water for them during this deep freeze. I have a frost free hydrant, just didn't get it installed in time. It will be interesting to see how your management changes. Always interested in how people manage their livestock to improve productivity, no matter how large or small the livestock. 😜

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hi HHH. Water hydrants where you need them are wonderful. Putting them in, not so much. I put a cutoff valve on all of mine, because they are notorius for leaking and no fun to repair. Be sure you use a brass 3/4 fitting in the bottom of your hydrant and not the 3/4 pvc fitting. The pvc will crack easilly. (I've had to fix 3 of those). I use a 3/4 threaded brass to 3/4 pex, and crimp on about 18" of pex line that's flexible, so nothing can break if your hydrant gets bumped, and then 3/4 pex crimp to male 3/4 and then use a 3/4 female thread to 1" pvc adapter, and put my 1" cutoff valve right on the end of that. I use 4" pvc to go on top of those valves with a 4" cap, so you can reach down in there to turn it on and off. I also made a pvc valve tool out of 1 1/4 pipe that I can turn those valves with. Yeah, I'm going to try to change things up a bit this year. I'm also toing to try to grow some of my own queens. We'll see if I can get that accomplished! LOL Take care and good luck!

    • @HoneyHollowHomestead
      @HoneyHollowHomestead 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@JeromeBeeFarm Thanks for the tip on the brass fitting. This will be a direct line from the rain catchment tank, about 20' down hill to the trough. I already have a shut off valve on it. 👍

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That shouldn't be too hard. Since it's going to be low pressure, you might consider black poly line instead of PVC, will probably save you some money. Don't use anything smaller than 3/4" to keep your flow rate up.
