The XTs are the first set of strings I've bought where I actually noticed an improved difference of tone. I shared that observation with the guy that works on my guitars and he emphatically agreed. (And no, he wasn't the guy I or anyone else bought strings from.) Now XTs or Stringjoys are all I use.

I was going to stick with the XLs until the hi-gain chapter made me change my mind I will give them a try. Nice video, Cheers!

It's hard to say, could of just been my imagination. That said, for the most part, they sounded close to identical. Sometimes the XTs sounded a little darker, and maybe compressed. Whereas the the XLs consistently sounded "open". I use XLs myself and try to change strings as infrequently as possible, as I don't like excessive "highs" on new strings, and my strings seems to last a long time. I've never tried the XTs. Thanks

I moved to XTs when went down from 11s to 10s. So its hard to gauge the real difference. That said, I love them. Sound bright for a long time, never break and stay in tune.

I started playing guitar again after 30 years and with the XTs on three different guitars, none with stainless steel frets. I noticed a frets wear that seems excessive to me. It could be the xt's fault? Now I try the XL.

I've never noticed much of a tonal difference between XLs, NYXLs, or the XTs. XTs do seem to last the longest and stay "fresh" longer in my experience

The more I play this set, the more I think I might stick with the XTs. I have two nice electrics and I always just find myself grabbing the one with fresher strings. It’d be great to not have to worry about that quite as often.

Through these laptop speakers (not the best for judging audio) what I hear is truncated sustain, more muted tone, and decreased sustain from the XT variety versus the XL.

They both sound really good. I have used xl110 for ages and sometimes throw in a set of ghs boomers which I like as well. I’ve tried the nyxl and they work well too. I think since your playing outside, they will work well. I guess you will find out and see how long they last.

To clarify things, because D'Addario makes it confusing and everyone gets it wrong: D'Addario XT strings are _not_ coated, they are "treated". What does that mean? I don't know. Ask D'Addario. They won't answer, because it's proprietary. But they're not coated.
Also, the XT strings feature plain strings that use the same steel as their NYXL strings, but with the added XT treatment.
The wound XT strings feature NYXL cores with the same wrap wire used on D'Addario XL strings, but with the added XT treatment.
So basically, D'Addario XT strings are NYXL strings with XL rather than NYXL wrap wire on the wound strings, and with a proprietary XT treatment on the wrap wire and plain strings.
If you don't believe me, ask D'Addario employee Devin Hasenflue, because that's where this info comes from.

    Excellent video and great performance!
So: how you feeling after 9 months you made this video playing with the XT?
Do you like them?is the tone balance or neutral or is more brighter with a and mid bump like the Daddario NYXL ?
Do you try the compare the NYXL with the XL and the XT?
Thanks for the tips…and your TH-cam channel is awesome !😎 🔥🤘🏻🎸

The XT set sounded great when I put them on. As for the long life claim, I’m not sure they held up for what I do. After about two months they really lost clarity and began to feel weird under my fingers. I’ve always been happy with the XL set that I get about a month’s play out of. I’ll probably stick with that but it’s fun to try new things sometimes. Haven’t gotten to compare the NYXL set yet.

@@AlexPriceMusician Thanks for your reply ! I used NYXL and they are fantastic strings! Give it a try…the tension is a little stronger, the tone is a bit bright than the XT and I will say a hair of mid bump but not much…they last forever and they stay in tune like no one else…

The XT has a very Nice definition sound , but are skinner than other 10 46 strings. Like ernie ball, anda more skinny than NYXL. I necer usted XL, but i was thinkin tray it, i think has more body bass soundbfrome your sound test. What si You think? Wich strings are y using now? Hi!

I'm sticking with the XL set. Been playing them since 2010 and every time I've tried something else, I end up coming back.

I don’t hear any difference at all. I use the XL 10’s on my guitars and they’re just fine. I’ve tried the NYXL’s and they were also good, but I didn’t notice enough difference between the two to justify the more expensive strings. I’ve not tried the XT’s but I’m pretty happy with the XL’s.
Regardless of which set, they do last a long time.

@Domino maybe your ears just suck...maybe your monitors? bad room? tons of reasons you can't hear anything. Good luck in your tonal journey

Nice test, but no trace of any longer life... anywhere tested in this video at least...
