Very thorough review, Peta. Thank you. I had no clue there was a different printing for various countries and that the quality could vary. What a shame the Plume version isn't as nice as others.
Yaaaaaay! I was looking forward to this book just to see how you'd go about coloring it, and as usual you've blown me away with your talent. Thank you thank you thank you for sharing. Looking forward to your next video.
I would LOVE to see a video your artistry on the vampire and castle you mentioned. Do you celebrate Halloween in Australia? It would make for a wonderful Halloween series! We could see your concept, ink-in, and coloring. My jaw hit the floor when you said you'd filled in most of the butterflies. The mermaid scene with shark sneaking behind her, love it! Thank you for sharing your talent with us!
This was my first colouring book and I absolutely love it, this was a great information video and I loved your coloured pages. It always amazes me how everyone comes up with something different, can't wait to see more of yours. Tfs x
Thankyou so much for sharing your coloring book with us. I love this book and it is so great to see the different ways that people chose to color in this book. Your coloring is so detailed that I know you spent a lot of time on these pictures. Your final result was worth the effort. Again, thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day.
Your coloring is amazing Peta! I love what you've done with the dual rams, it is simply beautiful!! I've been enjoying your tips and have learned a bit of info from you that I can implement in my own projects. Great videos!!
I just love your channel is has taught me quite a bit about types of paper and coloring styles/ media. I will be ordering some Inktense pencils soon. And didn't know if this book was alright with them. And as suggested I found the UK version of Animorphia instead of the American one. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into your videos to help other artists. And your work is just amazing!
So loved this review, it's bumped this coloring book way up my not unsubstantial list of must have books. I can't draw for the life of me, but think the blank spaces in the book could be filled with poetry, either my own or favorites of others work which may complement the picture. Thanks again for yet another wonderful review :)
peta colors and draws so beautifully. i've seen so many other channels who do adult coloring and i become so fascinated on the amount of detail and time is put into it. i don't think i can color as beautiful as peta and the others. and how they choose colors that work extremely well together. i do adult coloring too but you'll notice that i color like a 10 year old.
Peta, thank you for another fabulous video! I learn so much from your how to videos and love your book reviews. I'd seen all the reviews here in the states and have looked at Animorphia several times but just couldn't bring myself to buy it with the see through (literally, can see through the paper) paper here. After seeing your video, I tracked down a UK printing on ebay and am waiting for that to arrive :-) I really appreciate all the time and knowledge you put into your videos!
+Tracy Knits Thanks Tracy. It's such a pity that the US publisher let Kerby down so badly. His books are brilliant fun to colour. Check out my tutorial for how I colour in his doodles in my next video which will be available shortly.
+Peta Hewitt I ordered a copy from the UK and then was in a bookstore last week and saw 2 copies of Animorphia (here in the U.S.) and one was NOTICEABLY thicker than the other - both were by Plume. Apparently they figured out why the book wasn't selling in the States and they've now put out a 2nd edition with paper the same as the UK version. So anyone looking for it here, might want to buy from a brick & mortar seller to ensure they get a copy with the higher quality paper.
Thank you SO much for this. You saved me from buying the US version and being very unhappy. I would much rather wait and buy the UK version and have it be bound properly and the paper be a better weight. I love you reviews and coloring and am learning tons from you.
Great review! I've been loving your videos. I just ordered the Alice book the other day after watching that video. I have this book and you have inspired me to colour some more pictures in it. Thanks for sharing! Hugs Ashley
I,ve ordered this book last week so i still wait after this amazing colouring Book so i'm more then happy when i saw your wonderful review of this book & the great tips yoy gave, can't wait to play on this book Peta and i have a Q. for you Peta, have you ever tought to make your hown coloring book because you are so talented on drawing Ge! i would love to buy one book from an amazing Master Artist like you so Please if one day you make a colouring book let me know!!! Thank you for this great video,i really enjoyed to seen your Fantastic Drawing & colouring pages you've made it's absolutely Wonderful!
Thank you for the review! I have got the Dutch version and the paper is indeed of excellent quality. In the beginning of May Imagimorphia will be published. They have to (English) versions, one by Plume which I will avoid after your review and one by Michael O' Mara Books Ltd. And later, in September, we will get the Dutch version (but who can wait until then??!!)
Great Review as usual! I would love to see a video of your completed works though I think it would be really interesting and informative to see your works and you could blurb each one a little bit?
I just started watching your videos. These pictures are intimidating with all the detail. But watching some of your video color along is very helpful. You are a very talented artist. I am loving your videos. You mentioned using grey marker on the rhino. I have the tombow markers. Haven't used them yet. I know using markers on larger areas can cause streaking. I'm wondering if you have any advise on covering larger areas with markers. I watch someone who uses acrylic paint on larger areas but I don't know if I will do that. I don't know if I want to use that much wet medium in the color books. I liked your video on using pastels for the background areas. Very pretty and soft. I was also wondering how you decide which medium to use in the different color books. For instance you used inktense in magical city. I think you said you just use inktense in magical city. I may order that book. That looked fun. Also I may want to make a copy of a page that I may want to redo in another color or another medium. What type of paper do you recommend using to make a copy on. Would sketch or drawing paper 60 - 70 pound work for colored pencil and would it take color pencil. Thank you.
I'm in the U.S. and the poor paper quality is exactly why I have skipped purchasing this book. I had no idea that the UK version used a different publisher (Michael O'Mara), of which I am familiar because I've purchased a few books from The Book Depository in the past and they are published by Michael O'Mara books. I will order from Amazon UK then after all. Thank you Peta for sharing this information and as always great video.
I'm about to give this hobby a try. I've ordered a few supplies, which should arrive next week. If I get hooked, I suspect I'll end up collecting all of Kerby Rosanes' books. I have a fondness for canids, especially wolves and dogs. This book would be a must have for the wolf spread alone. It's concerning to hear of the paper quality and alignment issues with the US version. Hopefully they've corrected those issues.
Hi, i was wondering, did you ever try maped color pencils? Are they any good? Where i live we dont have any of those color pencils and i cant buy expensive ones. Thank you and i love your videos
Thank you for sharing this book and the tips you gave. My copy of this book arrives this week. I'm really hoping it is the better quality book and not the US version. Thank you 😊
Excellent tutorial. Those interested in Rosanes art....there is now a third book out. I took the recommendation of an Amazon reviewer and purchased the UK LomArt published version....Much better printing quality. Just an FYI to fussy people like me.
I just loooooooove your rhino and antilopes, they are gorgeous! Have you seen the video by Craig Sparks(Colouring animorphia time lapse 1) yet? I tried to copy and paste the link, but YT won't let me, but that piece he's colouring looks stunning too.
Hi Peta. can I ask where I can order the version of this book that you have. I ordered through Amazon and I got the version that is printed in the United States and I cannot use my watercolor pencils or my Derwent inktense pencils with this book as it bleeds through and the paper buckles terribly. I would really appreciate if you could guide me to the same Source where you ordered your book from. Thank you in advance
Hi Peta, I just love your videos i have learned so much with you! Thank you for charing your knowlege with us! I would like to ask you if you can make a tutorial vídeo how to color with pens ( faber castell connector pens and others)? Love your work! Kisses
+Helena Santos Hi helen. I have a tutorial planned where i show how to colour with markers, specifically Sharpies, Bic Mark-Its and Tombows and how i add pencil over the top. It may be a while before it is finished, though.
Hi Peta! I always love your work and your videos! Do you always go over each item you color in with a colorless blending pencil (or something like this)? I'm a beginner and appreciate all your tips!
+Carla O I don't often use a colourless blender. I prefer to use the lightest colour of what I am blending or white to give it a lighter look. I will use the blender if I want to smooth out an area that I don't want any more colour on or if I'm going over light colouring with pastels to protect them from the pastels.
I have the American copy and they seem to have fixed the printing issues. The paper is still thinner, but the artwork lines up correctly and you can flatten the book enough to color close to the binding. So I don't feel too cheated....lol
Another superb video. Thank you. Out of books you've tried, which books perform best with alcohol markers? Some I've tried bleed outside the lines I'm colouring. X
+Dawn Heald Unfortunately alcohol markers are very bleedy and they will destroy the picture on the other side. I recommend them only for single sided books. As a general rule do better on smoother paper with less tooth. I find that the Amazon printed books and the Dover Creative Haven books tend to feather the colours so one must be very careful with going close to the lines. I have a couple of high quality single sided printed colouring books: 'Color the natural World' , 'Colouring In New Zealand' and 'Doctor Who' which handle my Copics quite well and i can get some blending and colour gradients with them. Look for smooth thicker paper but always keep a protective sheet behind your work as there will always be some degree of bleed through.
Thank you for the review, Peta! I have the US version, and like you said, the paper quality is terrible. The paper is so thin that the design on the following page is visible. I keep hoping that there will be a reprint with better quality paper.
Hi, Peta.. I've been loving all your works and reviews :) my first coloring books are Magical City and Enchanted Forest because I saw your beautiful colorings on them. I'm still a newbie here, and still using a student quality pencils, Faber Castell Classic. And so far, I love them. Can you do a tutorial or speed coloring video using a budget brand of pencils? I'd love to see how you blend and how you mix the colors. Pretty sure, that it would turn out just as beautiful as your other works with artist quality pencils :) Thanks for sharing :)
Hi. I love your videos. I find them mesmerising! I should have gone to work by now, but I watched this one instead! Oops. I find it very difficult to colour with the Staedtler Fine Liners. Unless the space is tiny. Do you have a tip for how to use them in a more effective way? I love the colours but they are so fine I just seem to get lots of, well, fine lines, rather than a block of colour. Am I doing something wrong? Or would you only use them for the finest of details?
+Sue Wilkinson Hi Sue. I have the same problem when colouring with these. It depends on the paper you are using and the limitations of working with water based markers. Small areas allow you to quickly complete the area before the ink has time to sink into the paper and dry while you can't avoid this with larger areas. Unfortunately you are going to be left with that 'over lapping darker splotchy look. I use the fineliners for detail areas only and move to larger nipped markers or other media for larger areas. I prefer Tombow markers for bigger areas but even they have limitations on how smooth a result you can get. An alternative I sometimes find effective is to colour in with the marker and then, when the paper has dried, go over the area with a similar coloured pencil to smooth it over. Experiment in a page of the book you are working in and see what works best.
Peta Hewitt Thank you. I tried my new Tombow's (Christmas present) in a pattern book last night. The paper seemed super absorbent so they left a lot of overlap lines too. I guess a coated paper might be better. Thanks for the ideas.
+MsBea100 yes, Kerby uses crosshatching and other line techniques to shade... he did the work for us! I use his shading as a guide to where to shade using lighter and darker colours on the big animals.
Where was this printed? I bought this from the UK on Book Depository (publisher is Michael O'Mara Books) hoping to get a better quality edition than the one available here in North America. Mine was printed in Italy and looking at your copy, it seems to be printed elsewhere (although I couldn't read it because it was blurry). Sadly my cover is defective. The shininess on the tiger and writing is misaligned and the peacock has been swallowed into the spine :( I'm very sad, and hoping to get a different copy, but I want to make sure I get your specific edition since it seems to be the best quality. Thank you!
+arizemariano Quick check: Mine was printed in Great Britain by Lom Art of London. They are an imprint of Michael O'Mara books. I don't know why they would have outsourced to Italy. :( My books ISBN number is: 978-1-91055-2-07-0. Check an above post by Tracy Atkinson. She contacted the Publisher and explained the problem and they are sending her out another book. It's worth a try.
+Roxanne Duty Your wish is my command. :) . I had to planned to do this... just awaiting for my review copy to arrive and then i need to prepare a few pictures, so maybe in about a month it will be up.
+Roxanne Duty - Roxanne - the Book Depository would be a good place to order from. I ordered my Animorphia book from them and the pages are much better. It takes about 8 days to get here, but it was worth the wait. The shipping is free and they ship around the world. I'm in the U.S.
+MsBea100 Thank you SO much for this information. I've been looking all over to try to find someone that sells the UK version of this book. The free shipping is an amazing feature! Thanks again! The Book Depository was a great recommendation!
Also MsBea100 I will thank you for your recommendation. Whish you would have an affiliate link on this here so that you really were rewarded for your great lead on this :-) They do actually have an affiliate program: affiliates.bookdepository.com/affiliates/
_More than happy to lose half the pages on the chants of the glorious alcohol bleeding thru..could never phil out an entire book anyhow although i paid so much eye kinda dont wanna use em..make cents of that one_
Very thorough review, Peta. Thank you. I had no clue there was a different printing for various countries and that the quality could vary. What a shame the Plume version isn't as nice as others.

CONGRADULATIONS on reaching 10,000 subs. I'm so happy for you, you defiantly deserve it. Thanx for all you do 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
+Nic Hawker Thank you! My hubby screen shot the 10,000 number for me. I'm going to post it on my blog.
What a great review! I appreciate the time you took to provide it and also using the different mediums and mentioning the publishing differences.

I like the option of add my own doodles, poetry, to colour in stamps on colour - in pages. I just dislike the printing that tells you to do that! ;-)

Sadly there is so much “Draw it yourself” space... I don’t do drawing so the pages would end up untouched. Imagimorphia is more my thing 😉
Great review! I've been loving your videos. I just ordered the Alice book the other day after watching that video. I have this book and you have inspired me to colour some more pictures in it. Thanks for sharing! Hugs Ashley

Shiiit Peta, you're a great artist/colourist
Another great video tutorial, keep 'em coming! Love your work and please keep talking & coloring in real time! 😉
As always a great video. I am a fan and so enjoy your artwork. Thank you for sharing your expertise. Diane

seen this book in the store the other day and it looked really neat but intimidating for me lol I'm still new at all of this
I really like you... Skimping on a $3 pack of old pencils. Proper lady. I probably would cry to sharpen them too!
Your butterflies look stunning! I thought they were apart of the colouring book!
Hi Peta. can I ask where I can order the version of this book that you have.
Can you do a video about coloring with marker like you did in this book?
Can you please also update us on what you have completed since this video thank you Tanya 😀
Did you know there is another new book out by this author. It is called Imagophoria, available at Amazon.
+Mark Harris yes! I believe it comes out in June. it's on my wish list. :)
I have that! It's awesome!
Hi Peta, can you please do a review on the can't sleep colouring book. I want to know whether to get it as it is my birthday soon.
Hi Peta! I always love your work and your videos! Do you always go over each item you color in with a colorless blending pencil (or something like this)? I'm a beginner and appreciate all your tips!

I have the American copy and they seem to have fixed the printing issues. The paper is still thinner, but the artwork lines up correctly and you can flatten the book enough to color close to the binding. So I don't feel too cheated....lol
Glad to hear that they have fixed that issue, Is a lovely book and a shame that the images did not line up originally in the US version
Hey Peta
Ever thought of doing a follow up for all your fans on how this book turned out?
Rebecca
Great review!
Thank you for the review, Peta! I have the US version, and like you said, the paper quality is terrible. The paper is so thin that the design on the following page is visible. I keep hoping that there will be a reprint with better quality paper.
Amazing 🤩 I need this 🙈🙈😊
Pretty sure, that it would turn out just as beautiful as your other works with artist quality pencils :)
Thanks for sharing :)
+karina natalie Tutorial coming right up. It's just being edited at the moment. :)
Great review thank you
Do you have any tips for a beginner colourer who isn't very good at it everyone else's pictures look amazing
Thanks for a great review. :-)
Does anyone know a website I can buy a good set of art utensils? I live in Northern Ireland so I don't have any art shops!

Thank you. I tried my new Tombow's (Christmas present) in a pattern book last night. The paper seemed super absorbent so they left a lot of overlap lines too. I guess a coated paper might be better.
Thanks for the ideas.
Adorable 😚🔴🟠🟡🟢🔵🟣
can you use marker in the imagophoria book without it bleeding to the back picture
When there is already shading on the picture - do you just color around it?
+MsBea100 yes, Kerby uses crosshatching and other line techniques to shade... he did the work for us! I use his shading as a guide to where to shade using lighter and darker colours on the big animals.

Hi, what country was you book printed in? i know its published by michael o mara but just wanted to know the country it was printed in. Thanks!

is there a way/place to order this version and not the american?
+Roxanne Duty - Roxanne - the Book Depository would be a good place to order from. I ordered my Animorphia book from them and the pages are much better. It takes about 8 days to get here, but it was worth the wait. The shipping is free and they ship around the world. I'm in the U.S.
Awesome. Thanks!
